So… I wanted to like this place so much bc I actually enjoyed my dish but… Let’s start off w the cons. 1. We had to sit outside bc the wait for the inside was about an hour. No biggie, they had heaters to keep us warm. Even with a host standing a few feet from us. We felt like we were forgotten quite a few times by our waitress. 2. My boyfriend ordered the red beans and rice and he hadn’t gotten half way through with his dish when he found a hair in his food. He told the waitress and she asked if he wanted for them to make a new plate for him. However by this time he had already lost his appetite. 3. Instead of taking that plate off of the tab. They just gave him dessert on the house. As much as I liked my food. I wasn’t satisfied with their service and the way they went about handling the situation with the hair in his food.

Me and My girls were referred to Louisiana Charlies and we were very happy and impressed with our orders. Between the three of us. We had Tri– tip, Fried red snapper, Fried Shrimp, collard greens, baked beans, candied yams, potato salad and green salad. In addition, we had 3 drinks… I huge fruity drink with smirnoff, 1 huge drink with strawberries and champagne and a non-alcoholic beverage(watermelon lemonade). The inside is rather small, but we were more than happy with the outside accommodations. The owner was rather nice and greeted us, the waitress was also cheerful and assisted us with everything. The food arrived on time and was great. The fried red snapper was excellent, fried to perfection(some would say a little too salty), but we liked it. The tri-tip sandwich was oh so filling, it was tender and had the right amount of tri-tip to satisfy any hunger. The sides were good too — greens(excellent) baked beans(excellent), potato salad(good) candied yams(excellent; but very sweet), green salad(hey its a salad). I would highly recommend this eating establishment. Between the four of us the bill was about $ 110.00 just make sure to ask about the price of drinks… I believe they range from $ 9.00-$ 15.00. All in all, I highly recommend this establishment to try.

What a great place to discover while visiting Parker’s Lighthouse. A nice young man named Caesar sold me on the cornbread. I ended up getting alligator legs. Great choice. Cornbread was good also. Shonda the owner and her team were cordial, food was great, and I left happy. Had a good time. Next time I am getting the hustle juice.

The food was delicious! I love the atmosphere as well as the view, waterfront and at night when the lighthouse lights up is amazing. The staff is nice and very professional but they’re all funny to boot. Really great restaurant.

I hate people that give 1-star reviews on Unilocal.I rarely give them unless an egregious offense has been suffered. I’ll let the readers of this review judge me as I have judged others. The server was friendly but perhaps a bit slow. I have to say I loved the food. I had the gumbo, my wife had the jambalaya, my daughter had the chicken strips, and we had cornbread. It was authentic and delicious. Sounds like a four-star review, but then my wife found a baby cockroach baked into the cornbread. I could have lost my mind, but I kept my cool and brought it up quietly to our server, who did the right thing and took the bug to her«boss». Her«boss» came back with the bug mixed in with some cajun spice, insisting that’s all it was. That may have worked on anyone who didn’t know that cornbread doesn’t contain cajun spice, or what’s more isn’t a field biologist trained in the identification of macroinvertebrates. I pointed out the anatomical proof: the hind legs, the abdomen with cerci, the prothorax, the head with eyes, one antenna remaining. I’m nauseous as I write this. The«boss» didn’t have anything to add. There was no apology and the check came moments later in the full amount, which was certainly overpriced at $ 75. I agree with another common complaint about this place voiced by fellow reviewers. The prices for the booze are not listed anywhere and are excessive. This place really bummed me out. I thought we’d found something good and left feeling sick to my stomach. I uploaded a photo of the offending insect in case you doubt the veracity of my taxomonic identification. I took the photo on the table cloth before handing it to the server.

The food is mediocre and they advertise flavored lemonade to you without telling you that their«fresh squeezed» lemonade with ratchet mango flavor costs 11 dollars! Almost as much as the actual food. My tri tip plate was $ 15 and the drink was nearly as much as the food! Such a scam. Booo

One of the best cajun/Louisiana restaurants in California. Plates are overly full, drinks are strong and set at a reasonable price. Service is amazing, fast, fun, friendly…

I love the food and it is delicious. Service is great. The only thing I dislike is the one person restroom. Overall I recommend the place.

The aroma coming from the grills outside is hypnotizing! That smell draws you in. The restaurant is a little on the smaller side but is full of plenty Louisiana decorations. Before deciding on what to order, I of course looked up the establishment on Unilocal. There were plenty of great reviews pertaining to the gumbo so I decided on that. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no taste. I’m not sure if this was just a bad batch, but even dumping half a bottle of red rooster in the bowl didn’t help. I sent my gumbo back and ordered the fried shrimp instead. That was absolutely delicious! Seasoned just right! And my waitress Shayla was absolutely amazing! If you ever visit here, hopefully you have the pleasure of having her help you. And one thing I can’t forget about are the drinks! They were simply amazing, they definitely didn’t disappoint in that area!

Deliciously reminds of Louisiana cuisine. About the only place I have found alligator! Pretty good! The crawfish etoufee was right on point. I read that this dish was spicy and its was not too spicy. But just enough in taste and portion. Takes a while for your food to come although they have appetizers they should offer a little bread or so! Overall pretty good, service was cool as well.

Fantastic view; slow but friendly service. Food is so-so. The price is a little bit high, but they give you generous portions. Four plate of food, one soft drink, sales tax plus 20% tip would cost you about $ 101

This is a complete SCAM by the business! WATCHOUT!!! My boyfriend and I have been to this restaurant twice before and enjoyed the food and service with no issue. However, we have never been on the weekend before. First of all there are no prices for any of the drinks in the menu. My boyfriend ordered a Strawberry Lemonade and it came in a huge glass with sweetener and fruits and a Martinelli’s Apple Juice bottle tipped into it. We were surprised and asked if it was correct as this is not how it was served before. They just looked at us and did not say a word. Therefore, we just thought it was something new on the menu. We enjoyed our dinner and enjoyed the food. However, when we got our bill the drink was $ 15. This is a non-alcoholic drink mind you. I’ve never had a drink before, non-alcoholic or alcoholic that cost this much. When we addressed the issue we were at first told that we’d have to pay for it as we had already drank it. Really!!! Then after fighting about it they brought the price down to $ 5. I no longer have a good feeling about the businesses credibility and will not be back. Just wanted to put this out there for others to BEWARE!!! Considering other complaints here on Unilocal about the same thing it appears they are trying to increase their gross sales by overcharging for drinks and putting it on the customers tab. While hoping you will pay it and not say anything. as most people do not want to make a seen.

If you like REAL Creole or Cajun food, this is the place! We ordered the BBQ Shrimp appetizer and the Alligator Sauce Picante and they were both AMAZING! Best down home recipes I have tasted in or out of Louisiana. Staff is super friendly and helpful… we will be regulars for sure.

Pros: –Amazing view outside –Drinks were tasty and gave me a good buzz on just one! –Gumbo was really good –staff was very friendly Cons: –drinks took about 15 – 20 mins to come –crawfish Poboy was a bit dry… I should’ve ordered something else(the guy at the next table got a bbq tip sandwich and it looked amazing) –they didn’t have anything to crack the crab legs with! –be ready to shell out as things add up quickly. 2 drinks, 2 entrees with a $ 63 bill(not including tip)

Hmmm. Looking through Unilocal pictures makes me wonder if maybe I ordered the wrong thing… I thought this place was okay. We had brunch here and I had a healthy omelette and some grits on the side. The omelette was typical as were the grits. Never was a huge fan of grits though… My family had the grits and shrimp. It was very cheesy thick and rich. Again I thought it was just okay… The service was slow, I think there was only one server taking orders for all of the tables outside. If I came here again, it would have to be for dinner since some of the pictures look amazing. Overall willing to give the place a second chance. :-) everything else for this experience was just okay.

I ate here for the first time this evening and it was delicious! I had the shrimp po-boy sandwich with cajun fries, my friend had the jambalaya, and we shared the peach cobbler. All very tasty!!! My shrimp was meaty and not over battered, nor was it oily or greasy… it was very yum! The fries were well seasoned with cajun seasoning as well. I had a taste of my friend’s jambalaya and it had a good kick with excellent spice and seasonings. The peach cobbler was good too. Our drinks were fun looking, but nothing spectacular taste wise. I had a «hard lemondade» type drink that was spiked with champagne and some other liquors. My girlfriend had a sweeter drink spiked with Smirnoff. Prices for everything are standard… under $ 20 for a meal. The only con is the place is small, and we were seated in front of the bar area where there was a lot of traffic. Every staff person I encountered was courteous and welcoming. I highly recommend you try it. I intend to eat here again!

Visited SoCal Memorial Day weekend & spent some time in Longbeach. What a nice surprise for food & service. My wife had the Gumbo & I had the Jumbalya. We both tried each others dishes. I liked both of them. The Jumbalya was too spicy for my wife to have a small spoonful. The Gumbo a a very slight amount to of heat. 3 choices of heat available. We ordered 2 cornbread muffins @ $ 1.50 each additional. 1 biscuit came with each meal. All fresh but the cornbread should have been an included item. We shared a warm Peach Cobbler in a small cassarol dish, ala mode. Outstanding! Wanted to lick the bowl.

February 14, 2015 Valentine’s Day stop before heading to Vegas on the same night. Such a romantic night with my loving boyfriend. Sadly, the food here wasn’t great. Food was over-salted and extremely dissatisfying. Too greasy and simply just awful. All the food that we wanted(BBQ ribs and such) were all apparently not available until after we ordered them. Totally disappointed! The boyfriend and I agreed that this place gets at most a 2 out of 5 rating. It can be a 1, but it’s Valentine’s Day.
