A new, exciting way to learn music for growing musicians in and near Long Beach. Professional musicians teach all levels of Voice, Guitar, Bass, Drums, and Piano/​Keyboards. Using natural, instinctive methods, we teach students current, classic and original songs. Private lessons and guided band rehearsals lead to more fun — playing live shows for family and friends at real local music venues. It’s social, inspiring, and much faster.

Toddlers, pre-​school and elementary children participate in developmental music enrichment classes along with their guardians.

A variety of other programs include songwriting, recording, and artist development, and conservatory level training for more skilled players and singers. Facilities have a professional studio feel with quality instruments, cutting-​edge digital sound, record-​ready practice studios, and stage lighting to create a real on stage learning experience.

Really enjoy learning and playing music right away. From the very beginning, students can use what they learn (in their private lesson), to actually play music together in a band/​rehearsal setting. It’s much more fun than just sitting alone at home practicing by yourself. Everyone is a star, as much as they want. When students are ready, we feature them. But before then, everyone can love just being part of a band. No pressure. Easy-​to-​learn parts sound great when we all play them together.

History

Established in 2014.

Founder Bill McRae brought together a school of great professional musicians/​teachers starting in 2014 to make music fun. Everyone learns to play music right away. No sitting around for weeks before you can enjoy yourself.

McRae has done this for years — breaking down barriers to enjoying playing music. His background includes a degree in music composition and theory, a career in film & tv music, years of teaching, playing, recording and producing. He now brings all that to the Long Beach community, streamlined for every person.

We designed facilities like my recording studio from my composing days. It’s wholly new, built for teaching and rehearsing. With voice, electric and acoustic instruments, we bring the music dream right to you, just the way I wanted growing up.

Business Owner

Bill McRae, Director, is the founder of On Stage Music Academy. Originally from music rich Louisiana, he became a Film & TV composer and music business executive after studying at UC Boulder and USC. He followed that act as a classroom teacher in both regular and music education. Bill plays keys, guitars, bass, sings, and is a songwriter. This is where his passion for music meets his love of teaching.
