Horrible service. They ignore everything and never get back to you. Even if you call them for a week straight and leave a few voicemails. Beyond frustrating.

I lived in my apartment for a year and a half and I never had any issues, they are great when it comes to getting repairs done.
It was when I was leaving my place and getting my deposit back that was the issue. TERRIBLE STAFF! I will never use them again for any lease. Nor will I recommend them to anyone.
I have had multiple rude instances with front office staff.

I have never encountered such a poorly ran property management company in all of my years until I rented from Pabst Kinney. Please please pay attention to previous reviews and the warnings. STAY AWAY from this company! They only care about the money and not you as a tenant. I will say that the only positives that I had in dealing with this company is that my on site property manager Daisy was amazing! The company definitely does not do enough to keep her informed of when folks were coming by to look at an apartment and they definitely take advantage of her. By far the best manager that I ever had though! When my daughter and I moved out of our apt I was given back my full deposit, but I made sure to stay on top of it in regards to getting my money back. Our first property manager,(I think her name was Erica) when we moved in was great, very good at returning calls, emails and keeping the communication open regarding our residence. We lived at our apartment for a little almost a year and a half and never had any problems up until November 2015 when the water heater went out at our complex. Our small complex (18 units) did not have access to hot water for around 12 consecutive days! No one was put up in a hotel, or offered to have other arrangements made by the company. We were told that we would be reimbursed financially (as we should by, law but not everyone was). We then had a new water heater replaced but then it smelled like a gas leak so then that had to be dealt with. Four weeks later (now it is Dec 2015) we had the same issue all over again. I’ll spare details but just know that the company was VERY slow in trying to get this issue resolved. The maintenance guy Jerry was also not very helpful in trying to get this resolved. There are kids that live at this property complex off of Magnolia and also a lot of Spanish speaking tenants and I feel that Pabst Kinney definitely took advantage of the lack of communication between tenant and most definitely the lack of knowledge that tenants have regarding their renters rights. My daughter and I also had a termite problem that was reported in Dec 2015 and was not taken care of until earlier this year (took them about 2 months to put a band aid over an open wound). They increased the rent on a less than 300 square foot studio apt from $ 695 to $ 895 which is ridiculous. We moved out in April and it’s truly been a blessing in disguise. We found a bigger place in a much better complex and hopefully will not have any issues. Very happy to not be with Pabst Kinney anymore, please beware if you are considering renting from them. If the consensus tends to reflect negative there is a good reason why.

My husband and my experience here was EXTREMELY poor. From a customer service perspective, the CUSTOMER is NOT taken care of, valued or respected.
It is evident their employees do not value or take pride in the work they are doing. As a company they are more worried about how many applicants they can stack against each other on a particular rental property. Then, they take your application payment, sensitive personal documents and the rest is history. Unless you are someone who has time to stay up on the process, follow up, demand feedback and communication… SADLY you will be left in the COMPLETE DARK by Pabst & Kinney. It is so unfortunate that respect and proper customer service for something someone had paid for is not valued by this company. Although if CONFRONTED, which I did… they will disagree and argue they really do value customer service. Well, the reviews on websites such as Unilocal and other social media sites say OTHERWISE. They do NOT train employees well and it completely shows. They even use software to evaluate credit, that reports inaccurate information! Then they make a decision on your application, without even looking at their internal processes to see if they are up to date with the 3 major credit reporting bureaus. That is UNACCEPTABLE in my book.
They are only getting 1 star because Sharon the office manager returned my application fee!
Other than that I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU STAY AWAY!

Don’t rent from them. Nick is so rude and they just love ignoring inquiries. Someone beat us to an apartment the same day and we weren’t issued a refund. We called about another apartment and Nick told us we could look at it even though someone beat us to that one as well. UNPROFESSIONAL ASSHOLES WORK THERE.

Me & my boyfriend rented an apartment from pabst and Kinney a cute 1 bedroom everything seemed great for a while until we realized our kitchen was roach infested… After multiple calls to our manager Mr. Keegan Pabst our manager we finally got terminators to spray the apartment which didn’t work after 3 times :/​. We had to invest a lot of our own money to keep up with keeping the bugs away. & when our year lease was finally over we only received $ 180 back from a $ 900 deposit. Honestly we didn’t do any damage to the apartment at all besides our bathroom sink being clogged which is an easy fix. We even spent one hole day cleaning it to make sure we would get the full deposit. So frustrating & unfortunate that they own half of all the lb properties or more! T

i should have listened to other Unilocalers. after completing an application for me and my wife. we submitted it together with the fees for two people. we were told that we would recieve a call from the property manager which we never got. i had to call.
after few days we wanted to use our application again for another property. guess what?! they lost our application! talk about not being organized! who has time to fill up another application? dont waste your money on this business.

We were owners of an apartment building and decided to have this company manage the units for us. We were dissatisfied with their service almost from the beginning. We finally decided to terminate the contract after several years. Four weeks after the contract ended, we called to inquire about when the distribution of our funds being held by them would be delivered. When talking to one of the owners of Pabst Kinney, we were told — they were happy to lose our business because we have been a «prick» from the start. We were shocked with his choice of words. It is nice now that we no longer need to deal with that company!

I wonder how they sleep at night knowing they rent out mold infested apartments. They use the cheapest watered down paint and you’re might as well off calling your own plumber than using that dipshit they have and charge you the fullest price they can and have their *ucking plumber talk shit to you at the same time. Good Luck Claudia Karma is a Bitch! You know all this shit goes on and don’t even have the balls to face tenants or even help! Good Job! P. S. the apartment owners are very greedy and racist themselves! Don’t be fooled by those ugly pink apartments across the street… MOLD INFESTED!!! My breathing is at 100% and the all of a sudden allergies that I «had» are No More.

After reading the other reviews I probably would not have bothered with this property management company. However, the apartment I wanted was too good to pass up. I have since accepted another apartment instead of the one with Pabst Kinney.
I paid $ 50 for my boyfriend and I to apply for an apartment. This was on a Friday. On the following Monday I received a phone call saying that the apartment we’d wanted had been rented, and that they could either run our credit for another place (since they hadn’t yet processed our applications), or they could issue us a refund. I decided on the refund. I picked it up this morning. I had no hassles with this place. Everything was as it should have been.
I will admit that the way that some of the women in the office dress is very off-​putting. I won’t mention any names because I think that’s a form of gossip, but I think there should be some sort of dress code. As I was waiting for my refund to be processed, a woman, somewhat on the heavy side, walked in wearing a very short dress, which didn’t look very professional. There were multiple other women who entered wearing considerably inappropriate garments (dresses that are too short for the office with heels that are too high).
All-​in-​all, not a bad experience.

I called to aquire information on the process of the rental application and in order to schedule an appointment for a walk through. Woman on the phone has no respect and interest and treats you like shit on the phone. Yells at you because you ask her more than two questions and she is too busy to answer all your questions. However she makes sure to mention that you need to send them the $ 25 paycheck for the application in order to be received as a serious candidate for an apartment. Haha! What a scam. I found out later through other Unilocal reviews that so many applicants paid and never received any call back for a walkthrough. I am so glad that the bad experience on the phone is saving me so much money and time to stay away from a dirty business like the Pabst Kinney Real Estate.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

This management company sucks! Tonight our building was on lock down for two hours because a murder suspect got into our garage at 1349 Ohio Abe because the doors are always busted! Nothing gets fixed! Ever! My kids are scared to live here now! Thanks assholes!!! This place is horrible! Don’t waste your money on these scam artists!!!

Zero stars if I could! I applied for an apartment recently and received a call back from Claudia Gomez within 3 – 5 business days as promised. I was also told that I was the top candidate and would hear back from Claudia to schedule a walk through. Well, it’s been over a month, and after numerous emails and phone calls, Claudia has been ghost. She, and Pabst Kinney, took my $ 25 application fee and dreams of moving into a gorgeous apartment. I’m questioning if the apartment was really even available for rent. I’m suspecting it was a bogus listing in an attempt to scam people out of money.
I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau because what they are doing to people are truly illegal and not to mention downright cruel. Shame on you Pabst Kinney!!!

I wish it could be a NO STAR! I have been trying to contact them regarding a specific house for over a month with 1 response. I only received a response after calling the main office over 5 times trying to get in touch with CLAUDIA GOMEZ (who is the property mgr), I tried her cell several times daily, emailed her several times with still no response until I complained repeatedly to the main office! And guess what … now the house is rented! Also, the main office is zero help, they could not give me any info regarding this house.

Something about their application contract saying they’ll get back to me in 3 – 5 business days and hearing back from them exactly 2 weeks after I turned in an application is very much going against them.

My wife and I are in the same boat with Pabst Kinney making up BS charges to keep most of your deposit. We were living in a one bedroom apartment and in the same building a 2 bedroom unit opened up. Wanting more space we decided to ask if we could move over to the 2 bedroom unit in the same complex. Even though we lived in an apartment in the same building for over a year and always paid rent on time they made us jump through so many hoops filling out another application, putting in a transfer request, etc to move into the bigger unit.
So many issues in our new place right off the bat-​the bathtub wouldn’t drain, the garbage disposal broke and flooded the kitchen with water, the toilet broke and flooded the bathroom. Not to mention when we moved in the fridge was covered in some sort of stain, blinds missing, huge scratches in the kitchen floor, and a big chunk of the stove missing! When I called Claudia to address these issues her reply was «oh I don’t know how we missed all that stuff» I don’t either! I noticed it within the first 5 minutes of moving things in.
After having so many issues within the first 4 months my wife and I decided to find a better place not owned by Pabst Kinney. We found a kick ass townhouse owned by a super sweet woman who in a month has already done so much more for us then PK ever did.
We got our deposit back yesterday with so many BS charges-​$ 400 to repaint, $ 380 to replace carpet padding-​we lived there for 4 months! I personally think because they to repair so much stuff for us in 4 months they’re trying to recoup the cost by scamming us with made up charges.
Save yourself a huge waste of time and headache and find someone that’s not Pabst Kinney to rent from.

fn racist company… We applied, everthing was updated credit good job history on point no evictions but i guess the owners did’nt want any blacks in his house that have been on the market for 2 whole months with No other applicants. So i guess they had to figure out a way to tell us that our app was’nt accepted cause they are racist bastards! Middle finger to Bixby knolls and all you racist as folks out there. Suck it!

Where to start. We had the misfortune to run into these shady people while looking for a house to rent in Long Beach.
We stated our credit score (as we knew it) and they told us they would have run the credit check only if we were among the «selected» ones; they ran it even if they had already a candidate who got the house. If you guys from this company read this, two days after we got a bigger house in a much nicer neighborhood. And this tine we got a copy of our credit report, not just a blemish! Thanks for nothing!

I don’t know why it has to be at least one star?
It should not be at all– the perfect Zero should be given to this property management.
Stay away from Pabst Kinney management if it’s possible.
Very unprofessional, Carla Caldwell is very rude, as soon as she got deposit in hand
She turned out unhelpful and I lost $ 700 because of her.
It was a very long story to describe but just keep in mind to stay away from this to avoid the trapped.

I am a professional, go to work every day, work hard, etc. Typical responsible American.
This «property management company» is about as low-​brow and shady as you can get.
They treat you like you are a criminal and charge for every little thing they can.
Greg who works there is a histrionic little guy with a napoleon complex. Stay well clear of him but everyone else who works there is just as bad. Obviously none of them want to be working there and it shows.
Ok — so is this just complaining? Well, if i had it to do all over i would never rent from «Pabst-​Crappy». And i didn’t. After my lease ran out i moved because of how bad and unresponsive they were. Now i am happy living in a peaceful upscale place without crazy anger-​control problem property management companies.
If you are a home/​apartment owner stay away from this company. They drive away quality tenants — just look at the rest of their Unilocal reviews.
