Reno Room

I used to come here all the time when I turned 23 and 2^nd Street started playing terrible music… all that rave stuff is only enjoyable at… A RAVE! Anyway, I LOVE this bar. I’m 25 now and I’ve started coming here again in the company of my closest male friend, which can make it hard to talk to other guys cuz they think he’s my boyfriend… buy anyway… Bartenders are super nice and if you’re not an a**hole and tip well… they’ll serve you good drinks. Plus the pool table isn’t always flooded. Love it.

Great dive bar! Reasonably priced and also serves a great burrito! Staff wash amazing. Cherylin was super sweet and attentive. First time here and will definately be back. Also, we got to play all our favorite music on the jukebox. Would recommend to all my friends!

I love coming here for a nice stiff drink and great Mexican food. There’s always an open table or stool at the bar and since it’s mostly locals, you don’t hafta worry about drunk youngins acting stupid and falling all over you like any place on 2^nd Street after 8pm.

Tacos and whiskey cokes. Yes! A neighborhood favorite.

The bonus for this gem is that Coco Reno is right next door, so get drunk at the Reno Room and order some amazing Mexican food right next door. Or you can just eat on the bar side, sometimes there is not enough room in Coco Renos so the waitresses do work on the bar side.

The other night I was here for the first time with a bunch of friends when I happened to notice that there was no music playing. «Great,» I thought to myself, «I’ll go choose some tunes!»
Sitting near the jukebox was a group of four or so overweight girls.
I paid for 12 credits and was punching in some songs when I happened to hear the girls talking amongst themselves–
Girl 1: «Oh my god, that person better not choose s*itty music»
Girl 2: «Don’t worry, if she does, I’ll just skip it»
Girl 3: «I love yoouuuuuuuu»
Now, of course I shrugged this nonsense talk off because I recognized it for what it was– the sad ramblings of drunk bar girls who feel catty after knocking back a few cosmos or jack and cokes or whatever other swill it was they were drinking. I chose a bunch of punk songs and went back to sit down and pretty much forgot they even existed, until I happened to notice that one of the girls– the one who said she’d skip any music she didn’t like (an asian girl with glasses)– actually worked there at the bar.
Gross. Zero stars for customer service, Reno Room. I made sure to tell the people buying my group’s drinks not to tip that girl in particular and I won’t be back.
There are better jukeboxes and much nicer bartenders pretty much anywhere else in Long Beach.

Small dive bar in Long Beach with a few pool tables, modern juke box, and some comfortable seating areas. Drinks are inexpensive and the bartenders are nice. They gave us free chips and salas when we ordered some food. The crowd is interesting but my kind cup of tea. Overall, it’s a chill bar. Just don’t come with high expectations.

The bartenders and drinks are great but don’t come in until the restaurant is closed otherwise you end up smelling like fried Mexican food. They need better ventilation.

One of the great Long Beach dive bar institutions. I’ve had many good times in this places. And, the food is amazing. Any time, day or night, this place is always on point.

This place has so much potential. I really do like the Reno Room & since it’s right down the street from our house, we’ve stopped in a few times. It is a Long Beach institution, so I get that it’s a dive bar, but the whole place is sticky. It gets too rowdy on the weekends. The food is okay. I think if they cleaned the place & made higher quality food I would be here every weekend.

Pretty cool bar. Everything is black on the outside (looking very private), you don’t see the inside. Once you step inside, the place is lively and well lite. Servers are very friendly and welcoming. Very relax atmosphere, everyone was paying attention to the games. They had on baseball and football games on its many TV screens. Mostly street parking around here. Price is reasonable.

If I could put a negative amount of stars I totally would. The bartenders tonight were extremely rude and gave off nothing but negative energy. I had 1 drink and left because it was almost like I forced them to make me a drink. I wish I knew their names so that I could single them out. I’m a local and I will never come here again.

Reno room. What can I say? As a world traveller… one of my favorite bars in the world.

Great place to go for cheap tacos AND a dive bar is attached to it. Good vegetarian selection. Tofu tacos are kinda crispy. Great chips and salsa. The rice is some of my favorite. Super soft and good flavor. Margaritas are good. Word of warning: If you sit in the restaurant be prepared to smell like greasy chips and tacos. From your clothes to your hair. It’s a small place with an open kitchen so you will leave smelly. Sit in the bar if you want to avoid this because they will serve you there. All in all, I definitely recommend.

Reno Room is a Long Beach dive bar institution. Did a little research and found out it’s been around since 1950! Well I’m not surprised; it’s been around as long as I can remember, that’s for sure. It’s actually pretty spacious for a dive bar and it gets hoppin’ on the weekends. I like to go midweek, though, for a more relaxed vibe. Friendly bartenders, a juke box, pool tables, and even food from the adjacent Coco Reno’s – it’s a good place to grab a drink and hang with friends.

Pretty cool bar with a restaurant attached. They have pool tables and although on a Wednesday night it wasn’t too bad, I’m sure this place an get packed. My brother (not a helper) says that they have decent food. If it’s anything like the drinks, I believe it. Is a decent local bar with a decent mix of people. Worth a look if you’re in the neighborhood.

I ordered a chicken taco and a shredded beef taco. I ate the beef taco first and thought it was pretty good but my chicken tacos had about 3 to 4 small tiny bones in it. My girlfriend ordered two chicken tacos in which they also had bones in them.
I am all for authentic tacos but I do not appreciate bones in my meat.
Thank goodness for the chips and guacamole they saved us! The guacamole is great!

Classic Dive Bar in Long Beach that opens every day at 6am. Laura is my favorite bartender here, working the essential 6am-​12pm shift Thursday through Sunday. Beside her wonderfulness a few things to note:
CaLottery — Playing a little Hot Spot and watching the screens while you hang out is cool.
Has TouchTunes jukebox.
9 big screens
Most seating is at the horseshoe shaped bar but there are 5 booths as well and an space with 2 pool tables (75 cents a game)
The other half of the bar is known as «Coco Reno’s» and has it’s own Unilocal page. It’s run as a seperate business which means you get better food then most dives but you will get a seperate server and a seperate bill from them.
You can carry your drinks from the bar to the Coco Reno’s side if you want to eat at there instead of the bar.

Taco Tuesday 11am to 11 pm: $ 1.50 Tacos, $ 3 Modelo Draft and $ 3 margaritas.
Happy Hour is 6am through 11am and 3pm through 7pm Monday through Friday. $ 3 well and domestic bottles with a $ 2 «super happy hour» from 4pm to 5pm.
Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas are $ 3.50 Saturday and Sunday 6am to Noon.

I’d rather not have my bartender say really trans-​phobic sh* when I’m having a beer.

Almost everyone in Long Beach knows about The Reno Room. I’ve lived in Long Beach most of my life and have been to The Reno Room before, but not for many years. I’m not really a bar person, but a friend of mine is a bar fly and she’s been opening my eyes to the charms of dive bars.
In this case, I was with my mom and we were looking for a place to have a quick bite and a drink after 10pm, as everything closes at 11pm in long beach. My mom suggested Coco Reno’s/The Reno Room because it’s close to her house and the restaurant side is open until 1am.
The bar is located on the corner of Redondo and Broadway so parking is automatically going to suck. The Reno Room does have a small parking lot in the back so if you can park there, great, otherwise you’re hunting for a street space.
It was a Saturday night so the place was busy as it should be. We went straight to the Coco Reno’s side and were able to grab a table. Our waiter, Daniel, was very nice and attentive. My mom is a wine drinker and she ALWAYS has to sample two or three wines before she decides what she wants. Daniel was very accommodating and helped my mom pick a wine that she liked. I got a regular margarita on the rocks with salt. The bartender didn’t skimp on the tequila which I am not mad at. I was very happy with my drink.
The menu at Coco Reno’s is simple but tasty. I don’t think there was anything over $ 10, and they have a lot of vegetarian/​vegan options which is nice for those who don’t eat meat. I’m a meat eater so I got the two taco combination plate with one chicken and one beef taco, black beans, and rice. IT WAS SO GOOD. After my disastrous and overpriced lunch at The Cheesecake Factory earlier that day, I was cranky and hungry so the tacos really hit the spot. Both the chicken and beef had a bit of spice to them which I enjoyed, and they didn’t skimp on the meat. My mom got the fish tacos a la carte and we shared my rice and beans. All of it was delicious! With drinks included, everything was under $ 30.
The Coco Reno’s side will likely be a regular hang out for me and my mom. My mom also likes to drink so we’ll likely frequent the bar side as well.
Overall Coco Reno’s/ The Reno Room is affordable and satisfying. If you’re looking for a place with a causal vibe that stays open late and has great food and drinks, I highly recommend The Reno Room.
