This place is no longer a HolidayInn Express and has been renamed the Queensboro Hotel. If you are looking for 4 or 5 star accomodations then you are looking in the wrong direction. However, if you are looking for something that is convenient to downtown Manhattan and LaGuardia Airport and AFFORDABLE then this is it. You get free wireless internet, breakfast in the morning, and parking which at this price level is huge in New York City. But you better know how to drive or drive a compact car because the parking lot is so small that you look for door and bumper dings in the morning. The coffee is amazingly good for what I expected and the egg and cheese omlette thingy was edible. You also have choice of biscuits, fresh waffles, sausages, cereals, muffins, bagels, and yogurts plus a selection of milk and juices. The room and hotel is nothing to write home about but it works. The bed is a little hard for my tastes and the pillows are on the cheap end. They still have tube TV’s; the carpet is old but not tattered, and the towels and linens are acceptable. The hotel is in a quiet part of town; doesn’t seem to be much to explore on foot close by; but then again, I really didn’t do more than a drive around the block. The staff that I dealt with were friendly by New York standards(at least my impression of NY standards). I was checked-in quickly. If you are driving and looking for an affordable place to stay centrally between the boroughs or closer to the lower end of Manhattan, this is a strong contender.
