Worldwide Moving Systems

I used Worldwide northAmerican to move from Colorado to California. I stored my boxes and furniture at their storage unit in Longmont for about a month until I found a place to live. It was an easy move and was a light load. Another company in Los Angeles associated with northAmerican delivered my belongings to my new home.
As I was unpacking, I discovered I was missing at least two boxes, possibly three. The contents of those missing boxes contained my complete set of cookware, pots, pans, skillets and lids, misc. cooking utensils, knives, pastry board, and expensive large serving platters and all of my serving bowls. I was sick to my stomach knowing I would never see my belongings again. As I started cooking meals, I discovered I was missing even more things from my kitchen.
I filed a claim. I received a letter from northAmerican telling me my claim had been denied. From what I could tell from the letter, I was denied because I could not prove they had lost my boxes. Basically, they were calling me a liar. I had bought extra insurance to cover such circumstances like this. This situation comes about when the movers are not trained well, and they use the «no proof» answer as an excuse to deny claims.
The person I was in contact with during the move was Darlene in Longmont. She was very friendly and we got along well. She kept me informed of the schedule. I am pretty sure she knows I am not lying about the missing boxes. I think the company in California lost my boxes. BUT I HAVE NO PROOF! It doesn’t really matter who is responsible because I will not be compensated for my loss.
I asked for $ 1300 in my claim which I believe was a fair amount. If I had been compensated for even half that amount, I would have been satisfied. My load was light compared with people moving a whole house. northAmerican doesn’t take responsibility and they get away with it.

DO NOT USE!!! They packed my entire house… I was there when they packed up a box of all my leathers… and then to unpack on the other end and WOW it is not there! Like I would not miss this very SPECIFIC item!

* Moving is a very stressful time and pre-​planning is critical. If you want to ensure that you do not increase your stress load during a move, do NOT use this moving company.

If I could have rated them zero stars, I would have. We had Worldwide movers come out and provide us with a bid to move us. Leon the sales rep came out and provided us with a bid and told us at that time that he could not schedule us on the 10^th as we had originally requested, but that he could get us in on the 9^th if we let him know right away. We discussed it and called him back within 10 minutes to tell him that we would like to schedule for the 9^th. He confirmed.
At that time, Leon also told us that we could go by their offices and pick up some wardrobe boxes. We called on July 3^rd to get the boxes, however, they were closed for the 4^th of July holiday. We phoned Leon and he indicated that someone would be in the office on Saturday and to call then. We phoned at the time he indicated and no one answered the phone. So we called Leon directly again. He informed us at that time that we could either pick the boxes up on Monday, or they will just bring them with them on the day of the move and we could pack them as they move stuff out. So that was two conversations we had with Leon after confirmation of our move on the 9^th.
Monday morning of the 6^th rolled around and we received a call from Leon telling us that when he went to put us in the system it was booked and he was unable to get us in. He also indicated at that time that he phoned us last week to tell us (he claimed he left a message). My fiancé and I both checked our phones and we had no missed calls from him, nor a message. In addition to that, we had 2 other conversations with him. Leon informed us that they could squeeze us in on the 11^th, which is on a weekend and would cost us $ 10.00 more per hour, per laborer. Of course I requested that they charge us the same rate they would have charged us when we were originally scheduled and he indicated that he could not do that. He began yelling at me on the phone and told me there was nothing he could do. Never once did he accept responsibility for not putting us on the schedule when he told us he did, and never once did he apologize. I then asked to speak with his manager (Scott). Scott spoke with me on the phone and was much more professional. He indicated that he would see what they could do to accommodate me and he would call me back right away. 6 hours later I received and phone call from him. At that point, I was fortunate enough to have found another moving company that could squeeze us in at such short notice.
The bottom line is that Leon is a representative for their company and he represented them extremely poorly. Moving is a very stressful time and work schedules have to be moved around, etc. etc. Having movers that are going to be honest, timely and reputable is absolutely key. If you want to ensure that you do not increase your stress load during your move, do NOT use this company.

This summer I moved from Colorado to Florida. I did my research about moving and decided to go with one of the big moving companies. I received quotes from North American, Mayflower and United. North American sent their sales rep (Tim) to my home. He did a thorough job of walking around the home and taking an accurate inventory. Tim assured me he would be my point of contact every step of the way, and that he would be present on the day of packing. He also told me to only use a big named moving company because «moving brokers», who are cheaper, would show up with random box trucks and move my stuff to a warehouse where it would wait for another shipment going in my same direction and that they could change the price on me.
The day of the move arrives and Tim is no where to be seen. One small North American box truck shows up with a LIQUOR box truck. My belongings headed off NOT to FL but to a warehouse to wait for a driver going in that direction… hmmm sounds exactly like what Tim said would happen if I used a broker. Thankfully my price didn’t change although it was never weighed in front of me? I made it to FL driving before my belongings had even left CO. I placed several calls to Tim, no return call, so much for being with me every step of the way. Darlene at the office was the only person who helped me. I even asked for the general manager of World Wide’s name, Katznestein, guess what… she never returned my phone call! I wanted someone to be held accountable for the promises made in the sales pitch. Ironically, in Tim’s sales pitch he never mentioned the window of time North American was «allowed» to be delayed without reimbursing me. THAT MY FRIENDS IS THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION TO ASK ANY MOVER. My stuff arrived, nothing missing not too much broken (1 knob on a dresser, a croc pot… I feel lucky). But man the guys who unloaded the truck… geesh thats another review (had they not taken so many smoke breaks it may have taken them less than 12 hours to unload and had they not put a plastic chair mat on my grass I may not STILL have a dead spot!)
I was reimbursed for 3 days even though my stuff came about 7 days (I can’t remember exact dates) after I was expecting it.
This review became long winded but my original intention was to express my dissatisfaction with the customer service I received from World Wide Moving Systems, when I dealt directly with North American with questions they were honest and straight forward.
