Had an awesome experience with Golden State Tree Care.
Dave came out to bid a very big job, pruning back many large trees on our property. They wrote everything down and gave a firm quote for the job. We scheduled the work to take place a few weeks later on a day that worked for me.
They arrived on schedule that morning, bringing a crew of (I believe) 5 people. I heard them talking to eachother as they were up in the trees and in the lift bucket, giving guidance to eachother based on what they each saw from different angles. I felt they were very concerned for the safety of the crew and for making sure they got the right limbs and brought them down without damage to surrounding plants and structures (or windows!). They were very thorough.
At the end of the day, they cleaned up completely, leaving our property cleaner than when they got here. They even used their blower to clean all the old leaves off a balcony below where they had been working, even though most of those leaves had been there for months. They also did a walk-​through with me to go over everything they did. At that point, Dave noticed one more high branch that he thought they should quickly take down (he said «because if it were my house, it would bug me to see that branch there every day»), so he had one of his guys do so.
We couldn’t be more pleased with Dave and his crew. Very reliable and trustworthy. We will be using them again.

I have used Dave for several years. He and crew are top notch! Incredibly arbor-​culture talented! They advise and will do what is best for tree’s overall health. They are meticulous in all aspects, including final clean-​up! Rates are very reasonable for a TRULY QUALITY tree care service. (Dave has a guy named Chris working for him… engage him, he is an absolute crack up!). I highly recommend Golden State Tree Care!

During the recent storm and flooding in early December we had an extremely large, five-​trunk Live Oak split and half of it fell into our back yard. We called Dave and Sunny of Golden State Tree immediately. It was not more than an hour later that Dave showed up, while it was still pouring rain and much of our yard was flooding, to assess the damages. Since there was still half of a tree standing but its root system was obviously compromised thus posing a serious risk to our home itself, Dave brought his very professional crew out early the next morning to take it down; perhaps saving a portion of our home from being crushed.
We have been customers of Golden State Tree Care for nearly as long as they have been in town. Dave and Sunny have built a business and assembled a crew that is truly magnificent. Their ‘product knowledge’, fastidiousness, and attention to the smallest detail is truly uncommon today. Clean up for Dave’s crew is amazing, and the value they provide for their services is remarkable. As long as they are in business, I would never consider using anyone else.

Golden State Tree Care just removed a tree from my front yard. My experience with them was great from beginning to end:
–I initially looked at their web site and emailed them regarding information. They contacted me within 24 hours and setup an appointment for someone to come out and write a quote. I emailed several other tree care companies, but none responded.
–A few days after getting the quote I called to schedule the tree removal. I was initially surprised that I’d have a wait a few weeks for them to come out again, but I now know that they are usually booked out for a few weeks. These guys stay busy because they are that good. I was told that someone would come out in a few days to paint a circle on the ground around the tree so that the utility companies (PG&E, AT&T, etc.) would know which tree was being removed and where they should mark the ground around their buried utilities.
–A few days later the tree was marked. Over the next few days the utility companies marked the ground showing where electrical, gas, water, phone, and cable was buried near the tree. I’m not sure if this is a legal requirement since the last tree care company I used didn’t bother, but the buried utilities turned out to be very close to the tree and I like the idea of having it removed safely without a stump grinder knocking out my power/​phone/​gas water.
–Several days before the tree was to be removed I got call from Golden State Tree Care saying they had some schedule changes and asking if they could come a few days before the original date. I said yes, but they made it clear that the original date was good as well.
–When they came to remove the tree they were very quick and professional. It was a large tree and they were here for less than an hour. They did an excellent job grinding the stump below the surface, leveling out the ground where the tree used to, and cleaned everything up afterwards.
