I was having problems with my car alarm and lock system, so I went to see these guys. Turns out my electronic car keys were both dead and just needed new batteries. They helped me figure that out for free, and were nice about it the whole time (didn’t make me feel like an idiot). Got out of there w/​o paying them anything, only cost me $ 10 at Radioshack. They could have been less honest/​helpful and just charged me to try other fixes but didn’t. Seems like a good, honest, competent shop, would def recommend them to others.

A few years ago, I had automatic locks installed on my corolla. The place I got it installed at always gave me attitude when I would go back to get their device fixed. When the remote completely corroded, I decided not to go back. Went to AL and Ed’s where Bobby took care of me and gave me a warranty on their work. So far, so good. Only been a day, but a much better experience already

He was extremely Professional and Provided a good deal with great discount. He is Extremely Knowledgeable and I give him 10 out of 10. I would recommend anyone looking for such system to meet him if you are near this location.
Other Guy’s at Store (Beto & Store Owner) were also cool. They don’t try to oversell and suggests what’s best for you.

Let me just start off by saying that Paul A. really worked some serious magic for me today. I have an IID in my car and have been having issues with it starting for the past two weeks. The company (Low Cost Interlock) was going to make me wait another day before even shipping a new unit, despite me not being able to start my car to even move it out of the Al & Ed’s parking lot. The shop was slammed today and Paul took the time out to make sure I was taken care of, he spoke with LCI to make sure the situation was fixed, and off I went without any further problems! I can’t thank him enough for somehow managing to make time to help me. Go see him for your car installation needs, you will probably not find service like his anywhere else and you will not be disappointed!

While I always get the feeling Paul is trying to up-​sell me, it was hard to argue with him once I heard the results. The new setup sounds absolutely fantastic with new Focal speakers he had recommended and a brand new Alpine PDX-​V9. The team there do a fantastic job of making sure you get the best possible results for your money. The quality and level of service is excellent. There were several times when I felt they went above and beyond, like when they helped fit my tweeters into a custom enclosure, or when they found a fuse that was blown, and replaced it. Would highly recommend.

I love this place. They’re so fair and honest with you it’s crazy. I came in because my AUX input wasn’t working. Instead of suggesting buy a whole new system, they were able to fix it for a small fee. Highly recommend.

I think the best way to evaluate a business is by how professionally they address an issue. I recently brought my car in to have a Bluetooth system retrofitted. Max (as in «Maximum Service») knew exactly what was needed and how to retrofit my particular model. Unfortunately – due to no fault of Al & Ed’s – the system ordered was faulty, but Max persevered and made each attempt at resolving the issue an exercise in grace, patience and goodwill. My car’s issue was ultimately fixed, thanks to Max and his team. Al & Ed may as well be More & Schlomore on a headstone by now, but Max is alive and well, working on the corner of SM & La Cienega. Kudos to professionalism… A rare art practiced in business today.

Thanks Paul for a 1st time after-​market modifier, I had a creative and exciting experience with PAUL and my brand new TESLA. I was able to use the app to see when it was moved and track it during it’s stay. We blacked out the aluminum, tinted windows, created custom carpets and added a gorgeous satin black to the wheels and red to the «T».

I just replaced my Bluetooth system as the old one died. Bobby at the 2025 S La Cienega Blvd location was the best.
He knows his stuff. He is confident and is not an over seller. He will sell you what you need and they install it like it’s their own car.
Bobby gave me options and was even at the point of telling me not to install one of the options if I hadn’t come to the decision myself.
When it came to updates and pricing, they called when promised and updated when needed. He gets my vote and return business down the road.

I really have to commend Bobby, Juan & Paul on their customer service and making sure the job was done right on my car. As I’ve stated before, I trust only a select few with my car. It’s old but it’s my baby. I had dealt with Bobby before when he was working at another location so I knew my car was in good hands. The issue I was having was my right side speakers were starting to make a crackling sound. I had coaxial speakers of a high quality installed but it was many ages ago. I prepared myself for the worst. Bobby assured me he’d get to the root of the problem. He at first thought the speakers were blown as it sounded like they were. He wanted to make sure it wasnt the amplifier I had (also ancient, but solid). He checked out the amp and ruled that out. He wanted to check one more thing and see if the rca cables were faulty. Boom! That’s what it was. That’s ALL it was… The rca cables. Unreal. Bobby not only saved me money but he saved me from a headache I wasnt ready for. I cant thank him enough.
When we initially thought it was the speakers, I was brought to the showroom and shown the latest and greatest speakers from Focal & Alpine. It was impressive and the sound quality was great. Paul gave me some good info as what I thought was the industry standard, no longer was. Rest assured when these speakers I have now run their course, I will be purchasing some top of the line Focals. Bobby is also gonna help me find replacements for my subs in the custom enclosure I have. Cant wait to hear it thump.
Another thing Bobby helped me with was installing a usb port for the Alpine head unit I bought from him a few years ago. Now I have limitless options as far as music selection goes. Im siked! The installer Juan along with Bobby also helped me get some paneling under my dashboard flush and looking on point. I thank them for that.
I’ve informed my car friends about the good people at West LA Al & Ed’s. Some of them have classic mercedes that need their original Becker radios installed and they will be taking their business there. They know their rides will be taken care of… Thanks guys!

I did NOT want to have someone else install the stereo on my old Mercedes. I do basic mechanical work and my other older cars all have radios I’ve installed, but when I read up on the process it seems the radio setup for these old M-B’s wasn’t simple. (Shocking, I know). Call it advancing age or impatience, I decided this was worth having someone with better electrical knowledge deal with it. The best reviews I’d seen online in my area was for this store, so I went on a Saturday to talk to them. and I see why people have such good things to say.
Long story short, Juan and Bobby did it right, did it for a good price, did it in less time than quoted. and not only got the details right, but did more than reasonably expected. The radio installation was clean. They explained why they placed the microphone for the bluetooth phone operation in the best place for clean audio. All what you hope for, so that could have been it.
Then. they fixed the loose wood trim for the ashtray while they were there. Which had been loose for about a month before I ever walked in their place of business. THEN they showed me why the replacement wood console around the transmission shifter that I had installed wasn’t fitting correctly — the bracket holding it in place was slightly different than the original item. NONE of that had anything to do with the work they were doing, they just wanted to fix it (and my, uh, shoddy work damn them!) since they were there.
I prefer going to guys who not only know what they’re doing, but enjoy what they do, it makes it so much easier to do business. If that sounds good give these guys a try.

Paul was fantastic! I went in for a GPS installation, which was put in in about 15 minutes. He got in the car with me, to show me how to use it. As it turns out, I and purchased a unit that was WAY over my head to operate. He recognized this fact and recommended a Garmin unit that was half the price, and had all the features I was looking for. He DIDN’T charge me for the second installation, showed the simplified features, and even tried to help me return the Cobra piece of junk I originally purchased.
Paul goes WAY, WAY beyond the call of duty, is honest, and pleasant to work with. I couldn’t recommend him more highly. He is simply THE BEST!!!
