Dr. Nishida-​Eugenio is an optometrist who provides a wide range of eyecare services including in-​depth testing for learning-​related vision problems, vision therapy for adults and children, specialty contact lens fitting as well as the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases such as glaucoma. She is a 1992 graduate of the State University of New York College of Optometry and received her Fellowship in Developmental Optometry from the College of Optometrists in Vision Development in 2007.

In addition to running her own clinic, Dr. Nishida-​Eugenio volunteers her time serving on the Board for the San Fernando Valley Optometric Society for the past eight years. She is the Immediate Past-​President and the first female President of the Society. She is a member in good standing of the San Fernando Valley Optometric Society, the California Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for vision therapy, giving educational seminars to parent groups, healthcare professionals and schools. Dr. Nishida-​Eugenio is also active in her community, managing to find time to volunteer her services at Lion’s Club Vision Screenings and local Health Fairs.

Dr. Nishida-​Eugenio is married to her high school sweetheart and has four beautiful children. She attributes her professional success to her wonderful and supportive family and God’s grace…

Last week I had an appointment for my yearly eye exam. The exam was quick and pleasant. The office manager took her time to find eye glasses that suits me and she was able to stick within my budget. Overall it was a great experience there.

So – There is a common thread in reviews: Dr. Nashida is amazing, but some of the office operations are a little clumsy. That was my experience, too.
My time with Dr. Nashida was great — she is kind, smart, patient and a total professional. The office management and sales part was a little clunky… but ultimately I got what I needed and am happy with the results.

Dr. Nishida is highly recommended. Her knowledge and experience is extensive. Since my daughter began Vision Therapy she has made tremendous progress in her eduacation.
Dr. Nishida is patient and has expirience working with special needs kids.
We are lucky to have found her.

Lisa at the front desk is both awesome on the phone and in person! The doctor was also a delight, she is thorough and her explanations made perfect sense. She spends a fair amount of time with you, she is very professional and you do not feel rushed. I would normally give these experiences 5 stars, but unfortunately the «sales» side of the office was not very impressive. I should state that «designer anything» does not impress me. Apparently that is «offensive». All I wanted was plain black glasses and instead I am getting the ugliest pair of brown/​multicolor glasses on the planet. I have never had to purchase glasses before, I was not aware that I could have had a script written which would have allowed me to go get something «non-​designer» elsewhere. After I pick up these hideous things, I won’t ever return to this office. When did a medical appointment become more about sales and commissions as opposed to customer service?

Dr. Nishida and her staff are not only professional but caring, knowledgeable and attentive.
I highly recommend them. The doctor thoroughly took her time to explain and relate to my son and his eye problem, and then explain to me what he is going through and how it affects him. I also received a follow up call from the doctor herself.

My boyfriend and I have now had two annual appointments each at BOC and we couldn’t be happier. The Techs are always friendly and knowledgeable; eager to answer questions. There’s never too much of a wait and their paperwork system is done with re-​usable forms, which I appreciate.
I love that they offer Saturday appointments, which allow my boyfriend and I took book back to back slots and get it all over at once.
Between the two of us, we now have four sets of glasses/​sunglasses from BOC for all of our various needs (sports, driving, office, etc.). I would certainly recommend them to anyone choosing an eye doctor in Burbank.

After seeing some of the reviews here, we are definitely not going back. From the first moment we walked in one of the receptionist approached us to greet us only to find out if we had insurance or not. Her attitude changed from slightly annoyed to suddenly very interested after telling her what insurance we had. She then asked Suzie to help us, since it was our first visit. Suzie was very nice when attending us but the only problem was she couldn’t give us a direct quote, even after telling her what procedures and/​or options we were going to need since we’ve had glasses before. Therefore making my husband and I feel very skeptical about their pricing.

Made an appointment at this location a week early. Received follow up call to make sure I knew about my appointment. When I arrived my information was ready to go (I filled out the patient info online). Signed a couple more little forms and straight into my exam I went. The receptionist was super friendly and inviting. I think her name is Lisa (sorry!). Then I was greeted by the tech (never did catch her name) also really friendly and knowledgable. Dr Fang was friendly too! She had great suggestions for my eye care and always kept her composure. I can be stubborn! ;) Looking forward to making this place my regular yearly visit!

I went to the Burbank Optometric center in December of 2014. I’d waited until the very last minute and was grateful that they fit me in. I was examined by a very pregnant doctor (I don’t remember her name) she was professional and thorough. I have extremely dry eyes and wanted to try a new brand of daily disposable contacts. My first trial lenses were not good. I called and was frustrated that the doctor didn’t call me back until I learned that she had been in an automobile accident and was on leave. That’s when I met Dr. Nishida. She is my new favorite. I wear what are called progressive lenses with one lens for distance and one for reading. I took several visits to get the right prescription and we finally did. I’m happy with my new lenses. My eyes are no longer red and dry after 12 long hours of wear and everything is right with the world! I would recommend Dr. Nishida. She is warm and patient. Her staff has treated me with respect and kindness and that’s all I ask. Burbank Optometric is just great!!!

I have never had such a complicated and unprofessional experience with a optometry center. I will start off by saying that the optometrist I met with (Dr Nishida-​Eugenio) was great. I felt I was in good hands with her as I had my eye exam. The support staff however? A disorganized mess. During my pre-​exam tests the optician helping me had no idea how to use their machines, or how to do anything for that matter. She was asking for help every step of the way, it was very unprofessional. After 20 minutes of looking into a light and being told not to blink while she tried to learn how to use the machine I started to get more and more furious.
The nightmare really started when it came to billing. They did not bill me properly which resulted in a three month long battle between them and my insurance broker. They are incredibly vague in the bill breakdown and do not voice cheaper alternatives unless you ask. I did not feel they were looking out for their patients as much as they were looking for loopholes to make themselves a quick buck. You would think that for how much they charge they would adjust your glasses to make sure they fit your face perfectly? They didn’t even offer. I was so disappointed, I had high hopes for this place and it ended up being an awful experience. You couldn’t pay me to go back to this facility.

The service I had at BOC was acceptable and the staff very nice. However, the cost of the eye exam was out of control. Over the phone, I was quoted a price of around $ 200 for the eye exam. I told them that I was coming in to renew my contact lens prescription. After the exam, I was told that I on top of the $ 200 fee, there was an additional fee of $ 150 for the contact lens fitting. Outrageous! I called other optometry centers, and not one of them charged even half of that for contact lens fittings. Others also had packages that were more affordable. I now have to go back in a week to get my prescription because they wouldn’t give it to me until my follow-​up visit. Very disappointing. I will not be a repeat customer.
As a follow up, the doctor called me tonight and heard my thoughts on the visit. She waived the contact lens fitting charge. I was very impressed by her dedication to her business and customer satisfaction.

We were with Dr. Simms for many years when he retired we thought we would go to Facey. Big mistake! We went back to the Burbank Optometric Center, saw Dr. Joyce Wei and now have a OD for many years!

I love this place. I’ve been coming here for years. I love how the doctor writes my interests in my chart and asks me about them and how work is every time I come in. I’ve never had a problem with having to wait or with any contacts/​glasses I’ve received. I would recommend Dr. Nishida to any of my friends. Also, for glasses wearers, they offered to look up online frames for me if I didn’t find the ones I wanted there. But, in the end, I found the perfect ones.

Err… I’m not quite sure… my first experience here was with Dr. Simms and I really was confident that I found an optometrist who cared about you and knew what he was doing. Fast forward to a few years later, and the practice has changed completely. They try to sell you medicine for your eyes that should help prevent it from getting worse (for $ 60 for a three-​months supply), and extra tests for «only $ 35!» … I don’t quite know how I feel about this place anymore…

I saw Dr. Veal for the first time today. She’s wonderful. More thorough than any ophthalmologist I’ve ever seen before, and exceedingly patient with all of my many questions.
I wish the optician department had a few more eyeglasses for guys with big heads like me (I’m serious, I’ve got a cantaloupe for a head), but the optician helped me find a great pair of glasses.
All in all, I couldn’t recommend these folks highly enough. I’ve found my ophthalmologist.

I’ve been going here my whole life. Dr. Sowbe was the original Owner/​Doctor and I was fan and a friend. (RIP)
Awhile back he sold his practice over to Dr. Nishida and retired. This was a sad time for the business, and things just fell apart. Customer service was terrible, communication and follow up was horrific. I swore I would never, ever go back again.
Well I was wrong. I recently decided to go back to «test» their facility after hearing things had changed for the better. I was pleasantly surprised! 99% of the staff had been replaced, and the apparently business started with a clean slate. Thank goodness, the ships sailing again!
I saw Dr. Bill (?) and she was awesome. She was very thorough and nailed my perspiration right on the money. She got it better then they ever had previously.
Kudos Dr. Bill, I’m a fan. I’ll be back every year. (Don’t go anywhere else)
