History

Established in 1993.

In 1974, David Tunkl stood in front of Goya’s «Execution on the 3rd Day of May.» His central nervous system was electrocuted, his blood began to cook, and his stomach metamorphosized into a thousand fluttering butterflies. It was in that millisecond that David knew art would somehow stylize the rest of his life. Business Owner

David’s earliest days in the art business centered around placing classified advertisements in the L.A. Times, selling limited edition prints by Dali, Chagall and Picasso. His clients consisted of doctors, lawyers, and a myriad of young professionals, decorating their offices, and in some cases, their first homes. During these early days, forging a career in selling art, David attended UCLA and received a degree in Philosophy in 1977. As his knowledge of art history grew, and his passion for 20th century art erupted, it was a natural progression for him to leave the print world and start selling original paintings and sculpture.

In 1985, David moved to Zurich and successfully began his journey in acquiring and selling important original works by Pablo Picasso, Constantin Brancusi, Francis Bacon, and Jackson Pollock, just to name a few. At this time it became apparent to David, that he felt most comfortable selling art as a private dealer.
