Meet the Manager

Manager

Shalom! My name is April Schafer and I am the Director of University Synagogue Early Childhood Learning Center. To say early childhood is my passion would be an understatement. Having the privilege of being part of the growth and development of children is rewarding and wonderful. I grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and attended Michigan State University. When I took my first child development class, it all clicked! I took every child related course I could get in to and graduated with a BS in Human Ecology with an emphasis on youth development. After graduation I moved to Chicago and began teaching pre-k while attending DePaul University for my M.Ed. I started as the director of a private preschool and after two years was presented with the opportunity to relocate to California to help open two new locations. My transition to UniSyn has been life changing. I feel so fortunate to be able to call this both my place of work and spiritual home. I look forward to meeting you soon!
