Palm’s Thai Restaurant

The stereotypical «you know it’s good because the restaurant is filled with people of the same race/​country/​culture as the restaurant» kind of place.
The place is big, bright, and clean. The food follows suit. Great flavors. Very fresh tasting food. And very inexpensive considering the food quality and atmosphere. The staff is very professional and the food comes out quickly.
Everything I’ve had on the menu is good. Egg Rolls, wontons, coconut soup, fried chicken, BEEF LARB, all the stir frys, all the currys. Just go here and and it’ll be your go-​to Thai place after one visit. The only thing i’m not a huge fan of is their peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce, but to be fair, other people I’ve gone with love them.
The live music is a huge bonus that puts it over the top and they’re open late. Just know that when you ask for «hot» for your spice level it comes out «Thai hot» not American hot, so beware.

We were in the area and wanted some good thai food. I hadn’t been to this place since it moved to its current location. I just remembered that it was good. We arrived on MOnday night at around 8pm and found the place pretty empty.
Ambiance: Typical thai restaurant in Thai town in that it has a laid back chill vibe. Very open setting. Able to accommodate large groups. I didn’t see any private room. There appears to be a stage to one side for entertainment. Restrooms weren’t the cleanest. The urinal was out of order in the Men’s.
Service: Lots of servers walking around with headsets. They would radio your order in. Water was brought out right away and always refilled. Food came out at a decent pace. There was a good size gaps in between dishes. But very attentive servers. They would pack your togo for you as well.
Food: Here is where things really shine. We are use to «americanized» thai food, so it was refreshing to see variety on the menu. We started with the Tom Ka kai soup (med spicy). IT was nice and creamy with lots of chicken. Next came the thai BBQ chicken. Great portion with lots of meat (no scrawny chicken here). Loved the flavoring and sauce that came with it. The star of the night was the steamed whole fish in lime juice. Good size fish that was cooked perfectly. But I fell in love with the broth. Nice blend of garlic, lime, and cliantro flavors. I also like that they gave you extra broth to pour on top. The chili sauce that came with it was also nice and spicy. I would definitely order this again. The Pahd Thai and Pahd see ew were also really really good. I didn’t try it, but my boys are chicken fried rice experts and said this was one of the best.
Value: Just because the food is good doesn’t mean that the prices have to be high. And this place sticks to that notion. The steam fish was $ 18 but well worth it.
I would definitely return.

My family loves this place, there’s usually a long wait. They have an Asian Elvis singing on weekends haha. I like the atmosphere and it’s not far from the Hollywood strip.
I just hate the long wait time and there’s no self parking. You gotta pay to park in their parking garage and tip!

I have been coming here often. I have never a waited, good customer service, and most importantly, their food is just good and the price for the portion is well balanced.
I always get one of their curry, and pad-​thai or See Ew. I have gotten other dishes there, and they were all good.
Decoration is little funky though. It kind of reminds me of a dining hall or cafeteria. Super relaxed and casual.
So, their food is Solid.

Whenever I’m in Hollywood, I stop by Palm’s Thai food because they have the best Pad Thai and Thai BBQ chicken, hands down. This time around, I opted for the shrimp pad thai which came with extra large shrimp that is cooked to perfection, moist and tender. The noodles have the right amount of chewiness and the pad thai sauce is not overly sweet. The bean sprouts and carrots are also fresh and crunchy.
The Thai BBQ chicken is moist and cooked right, not burnt like other places. The chicken is accompanied with white rice, some Thai bbq sauce with a subtle spicyness at the tail end, and two fried won tons.
If you come at night, you can watch Thai Elvis perform too. Good food and entertainment…

Excellent soups and very good food at a reasonable price. Great for large groups that are up to share.

Cool local resturant. About 10 mins from W Hollywood hotel by foot. The restaurant is simple on the inside. Waiters very attentive. The food was awesome! Had garlic pepper pork-​loved it. Stuffed Chicken wings-​double loved them and would have ordered more if I didn’t already have an entrée ordered. Thai tea-​perfect not to sweet just right and had the crunchy ice that reminds you of what is in slushies. The portions are huge so a good place to order a few items and share them.

The food here is incredible, with most anything on the menu offered as a vegetarian or vegan option. $ 8-​$ 10 for massive entrée portions (seriously, enough food for two people). My Pad See Ew was one of the best I’ve had in Thai Town, with a slightly sweeter dark soy sauce than I’m used to. So flavorful without being too salty or oily. My $ 4 Singha was the perfect compliment.
This place is huge with TONS of seating. They have a live singer most nights, which adds to the chaotic yet homey vibe. The service was friendly but very slow-​over 30 minutes to get my single entrée. However, Palms still gets 5 stars from me. I legitimately enjoyed sitting here for over an hour, sipping beer, listening to this Thai lady belt out Ricky Martin covers.

i love the food here it has become my monthly spot, cheap parking and they have Mr. Cool singing on Sundays.

Solid tasty Thai food and various levels of spice thats authentic and cheap too! I Seating is cafeteria style and its order, eat and leave. But thats okay because all you really want to do here, is just concentrate and EAT.
Quality is consistent, great for groups and service is on point as well. LOVE !

Late dinner on Friday

I came here to have late night dinner with my freinds after we watched the musical, «Kinky Boots.» There were still people coming in and having meals around 10:30 pm. Because the size of the restaurant is huge, we were able to be seated right away. We ordered four dishes (pad seew, naked srimp, red curry and grilled BBQ), their portions were perfect and paid $ 13 per person including tips. We asked to order a sticky mango rice, but the waiter recommended us to order it later because it is a dessert, not a meal. We ended up not having it because we were too full and it was too late to digest them all. The servers were nice and they seem like they have a live performance because there is a stage on the left side of the restaurant. I will definitely come back to try other dishes if I have a chance!

Thai town doesn’t fail to impress!
For those of you who think thai places are all tiny, dingy establishments that value taste over appearance, I dare you to try this place for a change.
If you want street parking, I usually park to the east of here along Hollywood Blvd. Also try to the left after the 101 bridge. (You’ll pass by this crazy church that looks like a nightclub.)
Anyway, the interior is huge! Rows and rows of tables are packed into here with a stage for performances on the left as well. The ambiance totally reminded me of a chinese restaruant. After the initial shock, we quickly got seated down that Friday evening since the restaurant had enough seats to fill everyone.
We ordered the pad thai and – since I wanted to try something new – the house thai noodles. The waiter rudely was taken aback by my order and preceded to admonish me that it isn’t something people usually order and I might not like it. Calm down, sir. That is precisely why I ordered it.
The pad thai was solid – actually more than solid in my opinion. I wouldn’t mind going there to get the pad thai again. However, the real kicker was the thai noodles. I loved them! It was refreshing to eat something new for a change at a thai place. The noodles consisted of a sort of soy sauce like base with flat noodles and a bunch of minced meats scattered on top. I never ate anything like that specifically before. Definitely not too «wild» or out of my taste palate as the waiter suggested. Please.
There was a lady singing on the stage in thai – couldn’t really understand her but I appreciated the vibe it gave. I felt bad that no one was really paying attention to her though.
All in all, a pretty decent thai place if you want a change in scenery.

Came here with a group of 9 for dinner on a Sunday evening. We were able to get reservations but it wasn’t too busy when we got there around 7.
Location:
Right on Hollywood Blvd. There is street parking nearby but they do have a private valet lot. The restaurant has a big sign, green, and can be easily spotted at the corner.
Restaurant Ambiance:
The restaurant is pretty spacious. Casual and good for groups. They have a salt water tank and some typical Thai décor. They even have stage for performers and a giant Elvis statue.
Food:
Started off with a Papaya salad. It opened up our appetites. We ordered a chicken pad see ew, red duck curry, spicy fried rice, chicken satay, and the BBQ Beef. Dessert was mango sticky rice of course. My favorite for the evening was probably the BBQ Beef, that was something I haven’t tried at a Thai place before. I appreciated the grilled taste as well as the sauce that came with it. The mango sticky rice came in a close second. The mango was perfectly ripe and rice was perfectly seasoned.
Service:
Fast and pleasant. They were very quick with all of our requests.
This spot may be pricier than what I’m used to in East LA but I would be open to coming back.

This restaurant is one of my favorite Thai dining establishments in Los Angeles. I love Thai food, and I think a lot of restaurants do a really good job at making authentic great dishes, so it is hard to distinguish one place from the other based on food alone. Palms stands out to me because of the great upbeat environment which makes the restaurant a fun and exciting place to get dinner! Also the prices are affordable which allows groups to order a ton of different dishes without breaking the bank!
This is a perfect restaurant for big groups to celebrate events like birthdays. They have beer towers which are a big draw and really add a lot of fun to the dining experience.
In terms of food I love the green curry, Tom kah gai, and laarb. I have never been disappointed with any dish, so go crazy and order outside the box!

Lots and lots and lots and lots of seating.
This place is large and great for big groups. The wait wasn’t too bad even though the place was packed. They had a karaōke stage and even a bar you could sit at. Even the wait times for the food wasn’t too bad.
There is valet parking of off Bronson and it’s $ 2.50. That price is worth it. Better than driving around looking for parking on those busy streets.
Now the food. The menu is very extensive with plenty of options. All the classic dishes you want and more! We ordered the pot of shrimp tom yum soup, chicken pad see eww, and combination fried rice! Everything was gooooooooooood.
First off, I’d like to say that the PAD SEE EWW was AMAZING! the best I’ve ever had. The noodles were so soft and OMG the flavors were freakin tasty! I loved it.
Really everything was great. If you don’t mind the noise and the crowds, eat at PALMS!

Huge restaurant, huge menu.
Parking is easy if you can parallel park, or they have valet parking in the building for a couple bucks.

Fried tofu (crispy and super hot, served with sweet chili sauce)
Beef jerky, papaya salad, sticky rice (papaya salad was SPICY, but soooo good)
Shoo shee shrimp (a play on red curry with prawns, but better)
Pad thai (I’m not a fan of pad thai, but everyone at the table enjoyed it)
Mango with sticky rice for dessert (huge portions! a whole mango over a mountain of sticky rice)

Hands down the best Thai restaurant in LA. There are others with better dishes, others with better ambience and service, but no other has a mix of amazing food, service, pricing and quality. This is why it is the best place to go when you want Thai.
The restaurant is BIG and always packed. They have plenty of servers and they never rush you through your meal. The tables are big so you can order food and eat it family style and you are not punished for ordering many plates by being tight and uncomfortable. Their ambiance is very Thai and they have a real live singer. If you are looking for something classy and romantic, go elsewhere.
They are very accommodating to larger parties and it is the perfect option because there are so many good menu options you need more people to share. We actually were sitting right across Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama and their entourage last night while dining there. This is a place for everyone.
Notable dishes are tom Kah soup. Must get the large on the hot pot. Even if you won’t finish it, the experience is just much better. Green curry is one of the best in town. Chicken with Basil, so fragrant and tasty. The pad Thai is done right. All appetizers are plentiful and tasty but I wouldn’t get full off them when the food is so great.
Don’t try to find street parking. There is valet in the back for $ 3.

I’m trying to find the one item that will make me crave Palms Thai because it’s in a convenient location for me, but I can’t seem to find it! So I just keep going back and trying something else.
So far their item I like the best may be the bbq pork. I also enjoy their red curry, and the green beans with red curry.
Their coconut soup is pretty good but rich, so only enjoyable in small amount.
The fried calamari is okay (I have another place in mind where I like the batter better). The pad thai is fine. I don’t remember if I liked the pad kee mao, so it must have been forgettable. The pad see ew tastes a little too charred for me. Overall I feel the food is ok and sometimes good but not very memorable?
I’ve always ordered my food for pick up so never had the dining experience. The restaurant is pretty big, it’s lively and has a stage for live music. I can see why actually dining in would maybe help make the food more enjoyable, but for food alone I haven’t been amazed yet!
I like that their lunch special ends at 5pm because there are just those days when you don’t feel like getting out of the house till waaaaay after lunch time. A great deal too at 6ish dollars.

Surprisingly pleasant Thai restaurant with a lot of space and good food at affordable prices. I came here with a large, large gathering. We’d made reservations beforehand but as more friends showed up late, they had no problem accommodating us.
Being it’s a large restaurant in Hollywood and has valet parking (although only $ 2), I expected it to be expensive but everything was very reasonably priced. The lunch specials (from 11am-​5pm) are really affordable at only $ 7 per entrée. My friends and I ordered a bit of everything and shared. Some of our items included the Pad Thai Noodles with Beef, Chicken and Broccoli with Rice, Pad See Ew with Beef, and Spicy Fried Rice with Shrimp.
I can’t say I was particularly blown away by anything, but the food was good considering the prices and portions. I don’t really venture into this area often so I don’t know when or if I’d come back again, but if I am in the area and want decent Thai food without spending a lot, I’ll remember to take this place into consideration.
By the way, the menu does state that MSG is added but you can request for no MSG.
