Tamales Costeños

There is a woman who sells tamales, arroz con leche and atole on the entrance of a restaurant whose name I don’t remember, but this place isn’t hard to spot because there are always people lining up before she starts selling her food. Her tamale selection includes chicken, pork, cheese, sweet and corn. It annoys me when I order a tamale and there is hardly any of the goodness inside. I don’t think you should go out of your way to get here, there are many tamale street vendors that I’m sure have tamales just as delicious, but if you are in the neighborhood I recommend Tamales Costeños. I believe she’s only here on weekend mornings.
Disclaimer: You can’t find the best tamales in Los Angeles without giving everyone a fair shot, and it’s impossible to head to every street vendor and restaurant to find the best. It’s like finding the best hot dog— please don’t annoy me with the word «Pink’s». (Talk about an overly hyped-​up tourist-​saturated hot dog joint.) The official Los Angeles hot dog, the bacon-​wrapped hot dog, is sold everywhere and, like these delicious hot dogs, no tamale vendor can be claimed as the best.
