YEE: A Hollywood Holiday

I love Unilocal Elite Events! Katie B. put together another amazing holiday event at Madame Tussauds. I had always wanted to come here and I was so happy that this gave me the opportunity to! And thanks to their swag bag, I got complimentary tickets to come back again. Thank you Unilocal,Katie, and Madame Tussauds!
There was a line to get in, but you get rewarded with a photo opp with Johnny Depp on the red carpet. I got lucky and got a picture with Johnny Depp AND Katie B! Then you walk in and get to take a picture with a green screen – which I thought was going to have Jurassic Park dinosaurs featured but turned out to be the Hollywood sign. We were going to start with the third floor and work our way down, but because there were so many people we were told to go to the second floor instead. Man, there are so many wax figures here. It was so much fun walking around and taking pictures with most of them. And apart from the wax figures themselves, there were several photo ops available. You could take «mugshots» in the Crime section or pretend you are on the bike with E.T. in the Making Movies section. The Marvel Super Heroes 4D cinema was also open to us so that was fun to check out, even if we did get a little wet. The bad thing about spending so much time taking pictures was that I missed out on the photobooth from iHeart Momo! I love photobooths so I was sad when I discovered they had already left by the time I got to where they had been set up.
Throughout the museum, different vendors were handing out drinks and samples. I tried the Peach Stella Rose from their bar, which was a great way to start off the night. Fresh and Easy was also there with wine, but we didn’t try any of theirs. Angel City Brewery was another alcohol vendor that we did not try out. I did manage to try jerky samples from KRAVE Jerky and I got a hot dog from Pink’s Hot Dogs. They were really popular and had a long line, and if you wrote a review for them on the spot they would give you a free t-​shirt or visor. The owners were present as well and I managed to get a picture with them, which I thought was really cool. I also managed to get a pre-​packaged jelly shot (Moscow Mule) from Ludlow’s Cocktail Co. What a cool concept! They have several other flavours available as well. I sadly ended up skipping all the other vendors (Loteria Grill, The Carving Board, SnowBar Cocktails, Urban Masala, Lucky Strike) because they either ran out of items by the time I got to them, the line was too long, or their items had nuts in them (I am allergic). Also skipped the Hand Wax Station but that seemed cool.
Despite missing out on the majority of the free food, I still had a lot of fun hanging out with friends and taking pictures with wax figures. It was really good to see Elite friends that I had not seen in a while – Stephanie P, Shanon Y, Bridget P, Schel H, etc! And of course the night ended with some cool Unilocal swag given to us on our way out. THANK YOU again to Katie/​YelpLA and Madame Tussauds for throwing us this amazing holiday party! I cannot wait to see what Katie has in store for us this year :)

What a great event! I have never been to a wax celebrity museum. Thanks to Katie and the Unilocal gang I am still experiencing new things in life.
I did get faked out with the camera man at the elevator… SInce I am not a huge picture taker I was ducking out of the way to avoid being in the picture. Haha it was a fake…
Pinks was on had to provide me with plenty of chill dogs to satisfy any craving and the Carving Board sliders were good bites. To wash it all down, Angel City Brewery was on site. Great beer and great food.
What was also great was the photo booth and pictures we got to take home from the party.

Yet another FABULOUS YEE, this time with the «Stars» of Hollywood. We were decked in Black. As soon as we got in, it was so hard to control our emotions as you gaze upon life like figures that you have adored throughout your childhood, teens, and tween years. I think we all felt like a puppy or a teenage girl swooning for a boy band.
The only real food sample we got to eat came from Pink’s Hotdogs which I think everybody in Cali has already had. It tasted 10x better than the 1^st time I had it actually, probably because we exhausted our energies from photographing with the Stars.
The real review goes to Madame Tussauds of Hollywood. Will Smith, Marilyn Monroe, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Iron Man, and Wolverine were among the great wax figures known to man. This was my first experience at this type of Museum. Its quite amazing on how detailed each figure was. I very much appreciate this level of intricacy to get close to the real thing. Its safe to say that we walked out quite satisfied and elated to say the least.
Thanks to the Great Katie B and other Unilocal Forces for bringing another A-​Game to this YEE night in Hollywood.

A NIGHT WITH CELEBS HOSTED BY ARE VERY OWN STARLET MS. KATIE B.
Oh what a night, hung on Johnny Depp on the red carpet, sat with Julia Roberts, Shuffled with Charlie Chaplin, took a ride with ET, shared my beer with Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland), greased it up with Danny Zuko (John Travolta), listened to Forrest Gumps tell stories, and many more, even got a Katie B. hug from Katie B. The biggest stars of this event were the Elites of Unilocal,many Thanks to the hostest with the mostest for lining up such a great event. What a way to start the holidays and to end 2014.
Three floors of stars, snacks, beverages, and activities keep us Elites smiling and clicking our cameras. The iHeart Momo Photo Booth was a great deal of fun and adult beverages from Stella Rosa Wines, Fresh & Easy, Ludlow’s Cocktail, and Angel City Brewery kept our whistles wet and our Perma-​grins ready for pictures. Krave Jerky was there cutting’ up samples, which I passed on since I consume enough, while out and about climbing around in nature and the closest I came to trying a Pinks hot dog was when Dana K. and I stuck our heads through the cutout of the wooden display.
Closing the place with Clees H. and Olin C. was a great way to end a star struck evening.

No better way to celebrate holiday with Unilocal Elite & tons of WAX celebrities!!!
The check-​in is easy and smooth. First stop, red carpet moment with Johnny Depp~ Wait, don’t put your camera away yet… because everywhere you go, there are more celebrities waiting for you! Not only that, we get to take picture under the «Hollywood» sign too.
It is a 3 stories museum, well maintained and well organized. Thanks to all the food/​drinks vendors for providing all the yummy food & drinks. Seriously… Unilocal will never let us go home hungry!!! Love the way they setup, there are food/​drink vendors every floor. We get to check out the museum, take LOTS of pictures & eat at the same time! AWESOME!
After all the fun time & ready to leave the museum… what? there are more free gifts? YES, FREE admission tickets to come back to the museum in the future!!!

I must say I was super thrilled to have made it onto the guest list as it was my first YEE!
Upon arrival we were to stand in a line headed towards a complimentary event photo snap which we would later receive a print of along with four additional tickets to the museum to use at another time.
Red and white wine was offered by the elevator which was to lead us to the 3^rd floor where all the festivities began! I was pleasantly surprised and thought that it was a nice touch to offer drinks even before entrance to the museum.
Had a SUPER fun time taking goofy photos with the figures and scouting for Unilocal friends I have had yet to meet! Unfortunately, I was only able to come upon a few, but those I did it was fun to meet and chit chat with in person! Definitely exciting to be around people who shared my love for dining and were also having a great time!
Didn’t get to try all of the food but did manage most! They were tasty, so I’ll have to swing by a couple of these spots for the full experience.

Overall, it was an outstanding experience! The highlight of the evening was definitely seeing some familiar faces. Unilocal friends and Steven Spielberg, Hannibal Lecter, Meryl Streep, Leo DiCaprio, and Forrest Gump and all. Hehe. Thank you, Katie for such a wonderfully organized event!

Definitely one of the best Unilocal Elite events ever. The Madam Tussaud museum has always piqued my interest but just not enough for me to actually visit one. After seeing that the Unilocal Elite event was hosted at the museum, my curiosity go the best of me and I rsvp for it. So, I was excited to say the least, when I got conformation.
The Fiancé and I got here a little after 7pm via the metro station and the check-​in line was short. We were checked-​in and having our photos taken within a matter of mins. A big shout out to the Unilocal host at the table for making it a painless check-​in.
On to the event itself. After the red carpet photo op, we made our way to the wine bar to get the night started and proceeded up to the 3^rd floor where we were greeted by the lovely Katie B. A quick spiel and we were off on our self guided tour. Each floor was segmented into various themes and iconic scenes from the movies. Many of the wax figures bare an uncanny resemblance to their celebrity counterpart. Even though we all knew that the wax figurines were just that, figurines, it was still exciting to see a replica of a celebrity. I couldn’t help but took a few selfies with few of them.
In addition to the wax figurines on display– you can get your very own wax sculpture of your hand. It was quite interesting to see how quickly the wax form and harden. The short pain of ice water was definitely worth it.
Along with the exhibits, we were greeted with food and alcohol on every floor. From chicken marsala to Pink’s hotdogs, chicken bites and jelly shots to vodka induced ice cream. Everything was fantastic.
And best of all, we all got 4 comp tickets as parting gifts. I’m definitely making my way back here and telling my friends about this place. It’s definitely worth the admission price.

I won’t lie, I was a little wary of this event because quite frankly, wax people scare me. Go ahead, laugh but they just give me the heebie jeebies. Thankfully, I had such a good time seeing old faces and doing the little things Madame Tussaud’s offers: hand wax dipping and the 4D movie, and especially the iHeartMomo Photo Booth (my favorite thing at every event! ;)
As always, Katie B. made sure the event was fun filled. We were lucky to enjoy the offerings from not only Madame Tussaud’s but Krave Jerky, Loteria Grill, Lucky Strike, Ludlow’s Cocktail, Pink’s, The Carving Board, SnowBar Cocktails, Urban Masala, Angel City Brewery, Stella Rosa, and Fresh & Easy. Although it wasn’t meant to fill us up, it did the trick and everyone had a great –and safe! time at the holiday party. This was the perfect way to end the year :)

I met Hugh Jackman!!! Okay, maybe not, but I got really close to his wax figure on the night of Unilocal’s Hollywood Holiday party! This party was off-​the-​hook! I’ve been to a few Unilocal Elite events, and this one is the absolute best one! Katie B., our great leader of LA East, has gone above and beyond to throw this event for her devoted Unilocalers. We are so lucky that Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Hollywood was our venue!
This event was filled with great music on each of the 3 levels, and beer and wine from Angel City Brewery and Stella Rosa. Though I didn’t get to try it, I’ve heard that the Jelly shots were nice and strong! Also at this event was a ton of food! Food items ranged from KRAVE jerky, to Arroz Con Leche from Loteria Grill, to sliders from The Carving Board, and full sized PINKS hot dogs!!! WHAT?! There was also chicken tikka & potatoes from Urban Massala, as well as boneless chicken wings. Did I get to try all of it? NOPE! I was so busy taking pictures with my celebrity friends!
The wax museum was so much fun because it was interactive! Almost every wax figure had some prop that you could pose with. My favorites were ET (hence the new profile picture), Hugh Jackman (because…Huge Jackman), Steven Spielberg (because he was uncanny), and Michael Jackson (obviously because I like MJ… shush). There was a place where you could make a wax hand, there was a place you could watch a 4D movie, and there was even a Photo Booth!!! I felt like i was at Chuck E. Cheeses. Time seriously went by so quickly!
The best part of this event was meeting all the fellow Unilocalers that I’ve only complimented in the past, and for seeing all the wonderful Unilocaler friends I’ve already grown to know and love. We left with a copy of the souvenir photo we took upon entrance, as well as 4 tickets to return to Madame Tussauds on our own time. We were also able to pick up some fancy Unilocal swag too! I picked up Unilocal gloves, YAY!
I’d love to come back to Madame Tussauds (thought it’ll be hard to beat after this crazy time)! Can’t thank Katie B. enough, nor the wonderful vendors and Madame Tussauds for giving us a Holiday party to remember! WOOOOO!!!

I’m sad. I’m REALLY sad. How was it that so many elites on my Unilocal friends list showed up to this event, but I DIDN’T get to meet most of them?! WTF!!!
Maybe I was too busy having fun with Mr. Stark, or maybe I was too busy stuffing my face with hot dogs, or maybe I was being redundant there…

We didn’t get to try a lot of the stuff because they ran out, but I didn’t let that ruin the night. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of Pink’s Hot Dogs, Richard Pink and his wife. Furthermore, I finally got to meet a lot of Unilocalers in person. I got to say most of my time was spent standing in line for the free wax hand.
We ended the night with free souvenirs: wax hand, photo with the Hollywood sign and complimentary tickets to return to Madame Tussauds. Thanks again to Katie B. and Unilocal LA team for the memorable night at Madame Tussauds.

Unilocal in Red Carpet
Madame Tussaud’s always has been one of my favorite attraction in L.A. I have been here countless time, always bringing my out of town guest to here. Nothing beat in red carpet to see the real star, but chance of you able to get in the first few row are very slim this day, unless you don’t mind wait for half the day. Anyway I been here several times, and no doubt this is far far better than the Hollywood Wax Museum just a block or 2 away. Everything here is blows the other one away. The other museum, you can’t even close up any of the wax. This one you can just don’t touch their face.
I wish the weather was better, the weather force the vendor to go inside the museum than original in the rooftop. Anyway able to eat and tour the wax does save time if do it right. The food vendor were excellent as always, love the almond leche. They are out of this world. Nice to see Pink Dogs is backkkk.
Big kudos to Katie to set up this super duper nice event in the heart of Hollywood !
Camera, Action, and Unilocal

Flashing lights with the red carpet rolled out. A meet and greet with Oscar nominee Johnny Depp before walking in with the rest of the A-​list celebrities and Unilocal Elite.
Greeted by our own personal Elevator operator who looked just like the Pink Bunny aka Ryan C. from the night before, escorted us to our first stop, Hollywood the city of dreams.
Before we could step foot outside the elevator, papparazi was there with camera ready in hand.
Straight ahead was Jack Nicholson and One Direction. To the left was the photobooth stocked with props galore. Took a few photos and made our way to Tinsletown.
Mingled with stars such as Lady Gaga, Julia Roberts, E. T, President Obama, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Kobe Bryant, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Moses, Brittney Spears, Whitney Houston, Rhianna, Meryl Streep, Lance Armstrong, Robert Pattinson, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Audrey Hepburn, Will Smith and several others.
Attended a private screening via 4D movie featuring The Marvel Avengers Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. The special effects, vibrating chairs, air bubbles falling from the ceiling and being squirted with water made the experience even more enjoyable.

The festivities continued throughout the night. I finally got to meet Carolyn C, Joseph A, Van D. Stephanie and Dana K. Spent time with the other Unilocal buddies Schel H. Olin C. and Rodney S. Big kudos to Chris Cleese H. who sat with me two hours in L. A traffic listening to my nonstop talking. The night wouldn’t have been complete without Isai C. We walked the red carpet together, took some Gangsta Christmas selfies in the photobooth and looked like fools wearing 4D glasses that wouldn’t fit our oversized heads.

Full moon fever in full effect at this year’s Year-​end Unilocal Elite Hollywood Holiday at Madame Tussaud’s. It was great meeting so many Unilocalers decked out in their holiday finest to celebrate a year of awesome new experiences curated by Katie B.
This year’s year-​end event was no different and was the event to end all events. I must admit that I was a bit wary at the prospect of partying at a ‘corny’ wax museum, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun I had. On the first level aka Level 3, I hadn’t warmed up to the wax figures, but by the time I got to the second floor I had annoyed my +1 Paul J with a constant barrage of photo requests! They even have props to go with each scene which made the experience so much more fun!!! Pro-​tip: the E.T. photo booth is a must-​do. It fulfilled a life long dream of mine to take this iconic photo with my childhood hero. #bucketlist
All the food/​drink vendors were on point! I loved Pink’s Chili Dog, the Carving Point’s chicken slider, and the Loteria Rice Pudding. Angel City provided some awesome seasonal beers and wines and I had one or two of Ludlow’s Official cocktail Jell-​O shots!
After an evening of excellent food, drinks, and photos with my Unilocal Elite family, I can’t wait to come back and take advantage of the four pack of tickets that Madame Tussaud so generously provided! Thanks Katie B for another awesome experience that I wouldn’t have had without Unilocal

After hearing about this event, I RSVP’d right away and hoped I could go. A few days later, «I was in!», thank you Katie B.!! Madame Tussauds Hollywood is located next to the Chinese Theatre and the Walk of Fame. Inside are over 125 lifelike figures of celebrities from TV Shows, sports, music, and movies, etc. There are three levels and each room are divided into themed rooms.
:Experience:
When we arrived there was a short line. Once we were checked off the list, we were in! Before entering we posed and took a picture with the lifelike Johnny Depp. Then one of the staff took a Hollywood picture of our group. There was a table awaiting us that served red and white wine. As we sipped our wine, Ryan C. welcomed us and then we went in the elevator. When the elevator doors open, there was Katie B., she told us where to go, encouraged us to have fun, and to eat!

:Food:
We tasted food from different places, such as Urban Masala, Krave, Ludlows Cocktail Co., The Craving Board Sandwich, Loteria Grill, Pink’s Hot Dog, SnoBar, and Lucky Strike, etc. I sampled Grilled Sweet Teriyaki Pork Jerky, Jelly Shots, Arroz con Leche — Chocolate Almond Crunch, Pork Hot Dog, Chicken Tenders, and Spinach Dip, Pink Squirrel Ice Cream, etc.

Five Stars to the awesome Community Managers that put this holiday special event and fund raiser together. I was so happy to see Magic Castle actively giving back to the community with Madame Tussaud and Unilocal and so many Unilocalers donating to a good cause. The warmth didn’t stop there. All the love and laughter shared by the Unilocal Community and friends was just the perfect way to get this Holiday Season going! Indeed, it’s a magical time when old and new friends can come together and share food and smiles with fun — hearted creations at Madame Tussauds.

Unilocal Los Angeles’ hottest mademoiselle Katie Boomshakalaka crushed it again by topping 2012’s holiday bash at Hollywood and Highland by returning to the same intersection for 2014 but upping it to another level (make that 3 floors of fun) at Madame Tussauds.
I always considered Madame Tussauds as one of those touristy places akin to riding those open top double-​decker Hollywood sightseeing buses or doing silly guided Segway tours. But boy was I wrong. This place is definitely worth a visit and I will definitely be coming back since as part of the Unilocal Elite Event (YEE) the wife — henceforward will be referred to as Madame — and I got free return passes!
Honestly, when I would see the wax figures on television or magazines, I always thought they looked cheesy. But TV and photos do not do these figures justice since they definitely look better up close and personal. You should have seen me get totally fooled like a sucka’ by the paparazzi figure in front of the 3^rd floor elevator thinking it was an actual person taking a photo (Katie B. happened to witness this and LOL’d at me).
But yea, this place reminded me of a cross between the Night at the Museum and that episode of the Twilight Zone where the mannequins move around because many of the celebrity figures were so life-​like that I could imagine them moving around afterhours.
So the event was cool because like walking through IKEA, you had to follow the path to find the various vendors tucked away in different parts of Madame Tussauds. I swear there was even a yellow brick road in front of Dorothy and Toto because that was where Ludlows Cocktails was serving up some stiff jelly shots (I think they decided on the term jelly instead of Jell-​O due to copyright infringement issues coupled with all the recent drama concerning Jell-O’s most famous spokesman, Bill Cosby).
Speaking of booze, the Madame and I really enjoyed seeing one of our favorite breweries, Angel City Brewery, by the restrooms on the 3^rd floor and in the Wild West area on the 2^nd floor. Angel City Brewery really came out in full «FOURce» because they had four beers on tap (Vanilla Porter, Pomegranate Saisson, Angeleno IPA, and Pilsner).
The Madame and I also enjoyed the BBQ sliders by The Carving Board that were served next to Humphrey Bogart. These little guys were so good that we definitely didn’t have time to «bogart» them because they were heaved down in seconds. Also, it was a nice treat when we stumbled upon Pink’s Hot Dogs in the sports section of Madame Tussauds served appropriately between two of the biggest wieners in sports of all time, Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods. I think this had to be the shortest line for Pink’s in the history of Pink’s. W-​I-​N-​N-​I-​N-​G!
In addition to the food and beverages, we really enjoyed getting souvenir wax hands at the Hand Wax Station. I honestly wanted to do the «flipping-​a-​bird» hand or «the sh*cker», but the Madame vetoed me and I ended up doing an «OK» hand while she did «peace».
But the highlight of the night had to be watching the cartoon Marvel Super Heroes movie clip in the 4D Theater where the seats would vibrate, gusts of wind would blow by you, bubbles would tickle you, and shots of water would shower your face.
So yes, the Madame and I had a great time at the YEE Holiday Party eating, drinking, getting facials, and hanging out with friends. So, kudos again to mademoiselle Katie B. where the B stands for everything from Buoyant to Brilliant.
* Interesting fact — I read one placard that says it takes 140 hours to put one single strand of hair on a figure! Say whaaaaaat!!! That’s longer than real hair transplanting!

If there were an Oscar for awesome Unilocal events, A Hollywood Holiday would earn Best Event for sure. For me, this was by far the most outstanding Elite event I’ve been to EVER… thank you, Katie B!!!
Venue: ⁵⁄₅. I had never been to Madame Tussauds before and had always imagined it as a slightly dusty and outdated museum with wax figures behind red ropes. NOT the case! The whole interior is very modern, up-​to-​date and interactive. Lots of opportunities for pics with your favorite «celebrities».
Refreshments: ⁵⁄₅. First of all, it was all free. Automatic ⁵⁄₅! Second of all, there was a nice diversity of items to try. My favorite by far was the offering of Loteria Grill. Delicious and especially loved the coupons for free margaritas.
Company: ⁵⁄₅. Seems like most Unilocal Elites are awesome, funny, helpful, and make a great crowd. It was awesome to catch up with old pals. And no one is better company than Unilocaler Gary I., my most excellent plus-​one.
Swag: ⁵⁄₅. Free pics in front of «the Hollywood sign». Comp tickets to come back, too!
Parking: ⁵⁄₅. $ 10 for parking in Hollywood seems like a steal! (Although Gary I. won this one… street parking ftw.)
Getting carded: ⁵⁄₅. Doesn’t happen to me much any more, so even though it was pro forma, it was fun.

Talk about a great event to attend to! This so far has been the best event I have attended. I was unsure if I was going to make it in the end just because of LA traffic… sounded dreadful. We ended up driving there instead of taking the Metro line that takes you close to the museum. Took us about an hour to get there and 20 minutes back, loved the drive home.
Upon entering the Unilocal booth was step up outside where we sign in and make our donation. When entering the museum you can take a picture right away with Johnny Depp. All of the celebrity Wax sculptures were perfectly done. They looked so real. Sometimes I couldn’t tell the difference between sculptured celebrities or a Unilocaler. Ha.
There were three floors and on every floor we got to see new celebs and enjoy some finger tasting foods. My favorite one was the spinach dip, omg I still cannot stop thinking about it. They had great tasting IPA beer and wine. Loved it. They had an area where you can wait in line to get your hand sculpted. Pinks hot dogs was also there with the owners which was cool. There was a beef jerky table which, who doesn’t like beef jerky. If you don’t you are crazy. So much more.
At the end we came across a guy giving out 3d glasses for a movie. The movie was only 10 minutes and started a couple minutes after we got there. This was the topper to the night. The theater was small but big enough for the right amount of people, if that makes sense. It was a special effect movie with all the super heroes. It shot out water, poked us in the back, something crawled on our feet, bubbles flew, sounds effects were on point, and our seats rumbled. Movie was funny and so was the guy who announced the instructions for the movie. Loved it.
There was a lot of people and everyone was very friendly. This was amazing, thank you once again Unilocal for putting this on!
