Specialties

Refugio Ranch Vineyards produces an exquisite line up of wines, sourced exclusively from our 415 acre vineyard, located in the hills of Santa Ynez off Refugio Road. We specialize in Rhone Varietals and Sauvignon Blanc.

Join us for «Soirée Thursdays» where we feature live music, food pairings and wine by the glass specials — every Thursday evening at our Tasting Room in downtown Los Olivos.

History

Established in 2004.

Our vineyard was purchased in 2004, planted in 2006 and our first harvest was in 2008.

Refugio Ranch represents a centuries-old history of cowboys and cattle ranching. The Gleason Family has opened a new chapter for this land, with the promise of celebrating the spirit of this unique corner of the earth. The native land has been left largely untouched, but for the vines that the land itself nurtures and readies for harvest.

«You can’t divorce the meaning of life from the experience of it.» — Kevin Gleason

In the middle of life’s journey, Kevin Gleason found himself searching for the possibility of a vineyard. For two years, he wandered the Earth looking something that even now he can only describe as terroir — an alchemy of place that he and his family could steward and fully engage with in the pursuit of making great wine. Bordeaux, Sonoma, Mendoza, Tuscany, Barossa were all options, but he chose 415 acres in the San Ynez valley of California. Why?

«Everywhere else, the story was already written.» — Kevin Gleason
