Description

Specialties

UTEC’s unique and historic building is perfect for weddings, galas, concerts, meetings, seminars, cocktail parties, birthdays, performances, lectures, film releases, and so much more! Our in-house culinary department also caters off-site events, providing anything from box lunches for meetings to impressive appetizer spreads for corporate events. Facility rentals and catering orders help allow UTEC to sustain and grow its mission and programming, both through rental revenue and by providing diverse employment opportunities for youth. After an ambitious renovation, finished in 2012, UTEC is now the oldest LEED Platinum Certified building in the country. We take pride in our «green» features, from the solar panels on our roof to the local ingredients in our kitchen.

History

Established in 1999.

The United Teen Equality Center (UTEC), founded in 1999 and based in Lowell, was the result of an organizing movement driven by young people to develop their own teen center in response to gang violence. While educational, workforce, and social enterprise programs have expanded and evolved over the years, and UTEC’s mission and promise remains to ignite and nurture the ambition of our most disconnected youth to trade violence and poverty for social and economic success.

With the renovation of UTEC’s current headquarters completed in 2012, the organization has been expanding the rental and catering businesses, to simultaneously provide revenue for programs, employ youth, and provide both an amazing event location and affordable, healthy, and delicious catering to the community.
