Equestrian’s First Place

Needed help with my horse and brought her to Sarah for two months of training. 1 month for horse (I had to travel), then I extended another month so she could work with me. This is not her own place of business. It is a boarding stable where she boarded her horse and gave lessons on it sometimes. She is no longer there, but that is quite common in the equestrian world. I felt like all I did was pay her board for two months. She was inattentive, preoccupied, chronically late or canceling, constantly texting, and self-​absorbed with some difficulties of her own. Okay, I get that she was having some personal troubles, but hey, I paid ALOT of money for a little help here! I finally gave up and moved my horse to another stable and a more professional trainer.

I bought a horse! Now what?
Yeah, I did it. Bought the house, bought the horse, trying to be respectable. Aren’t gentlemen the guys who own horses? Does that make me a gentleman? (Referencing the movie ‘Blast from the Past’ for all you yutes, btw.)
So, what were my problems? Horse trots too fast. He likes to canter (and I’m not ready). I’m putting all my tack on upside down and backwards. I wanted to ride Western!
Western?!? Not too many actual western riding instructors here that I could Unilocal or google. Don’t get me wrong though, they are knowledgeable in Barrel, Reining, Hunter Jumper, Jumper and Western Pleasure as well.
Sarah, my trainer, was knowledgeable with both my (rider) problems and Chief’s (horse) problems. I opted for an 8 week training program (reduces an already reduced rate) and finished with a much better relationship with my horse, and a return to better form. I am pursuing other things right now (specifically Salsa dancing — thinking of competing myself), but I’m glad I went through the program and plan to continue as I follow my dream of becoming a mounted mongol warrior salsa dancing cowboy!
I highly recommend Equestrian’s First Place as both a rider training and horse training school! Oh — and Sarah has a great voice! Bonus!
