For over 15 years Art Gecko has been Madison’s choice for high quality hand made and hand sourced jewelry, scarves, textiles, furniture and unique décor items. Our shops are locally owned and operated in Madison, Wisconsin.

We travel across the globe to source unique products from artists in Indonesia, India, Mexico, and wherever else we can get our hands on the hard to find items that you won’t find anywhere else. Art Gecko’s commitment to conscious commerce creates a direct relationship between the designers and craftspeople who manufacture the goods and the community in which it is sold. Your purchase helps people in non industrialized countries earn a living.

History

Established in 1994.

The owners of Art Gecko are artists, merchants and long-​time Madison residents, making it a local business that is firmly rooted in the Madison community. When the business began, owners Marcel and Nosheen were recent college graduates. AG began as a lifestyle – traveling during the winter months, acquiring artifacts and selling them during the summer months, primarily as way to cover expenses and finance another trip abroad the following winter.

AG began vending in marketplaces and pop ups around Madison and the mid-​west in 1994. In 1998, AG opened the shop at 507 State St, the current location. In 2005, AG opened at 1725 Monroe St.

Art Gecko is a locally owned and operated Jewelry, Clothing, Furniture and Housewares life style shop located in Madison, Wi. Art Gecko has been curating a cool, funky and fun collection for 20 years. The items that we sell are hand made locally and around the world, and hand sourced by the owners and the team. Art Gecko believes in «Conscientious Commerce» which places a high value on using natural materials for the production of our merchandise, and high quality of life for the artisans that produce them.
