Serrv carries unique, handcrafted, fair trade items from around the world. We carry beautiful home décor, jewelry and gifts that improve the lives of artisans and farmers worldwide.

History

Established in 1949.

Serrv was established by relief workers returning from post-​war Germany who brought back handcrafts made by German refugees. The relief workers sold the handmade items in Maryland to provide the refugee craftspeople a means to lift themselves out of the poverty and devastation of WWII.

Adrienne M.

Manager

Adrienne studied International Studies in Washington, DC and completed two years with the Peace Corps in Mozambique before joining Serrv in 2015. She is passionate about sustainable development and loves working for an organization working to break the chain of economic inequality.

LOVE SERRV!
Socially conscious business model with hand made goodies from all over the world, how can you beat that?! Great prices too! I got a peace sign wreath made of twisted vines for $ 24 and it is THE CUTEST. The tag came with a picture Of the man who made it and a bit about him. Too cool!

Very cool little store. Lots of great gifts — house goods, clothing, some stationary items, and general knick-​knacks. All appear to be of good quality and extremely reasonably priced.
Service was *super friendly* and seemed genuine. We have a lot of options for kitschy-​type places in Madison; this one will remain a staple for me.

It appears that this is a non-​profit chain with a website, but I loved it. The store clerks were so nice and even had samples of chocolate to try. I ended up buying two necklaces and earrings for my family and they were excited to read the story for the jewelry. Such a cute shop!
