I moved to Madison without a car. With the many taxi services, Über, and Zip Car I thought I’d covered all my bases. Well a day ago I needed to get across to the west side of town. I needed to catch a bus. For $ 2 can get from the east to the west or practically anywhere in Madison. There are a few Apps to download which keep the schedule updated to the minute; helpful in bad weather, and they help you plan your trip with a color coded bus number system that includes how many stops to your destination. If you ever need to get somewhere Madison Metro Bus will get you there. If you’re new to the Metro system, «cityofmadison.com» will give you the«deets» on the bus. You can purchase weekly or monthly passes online or at the City Treasure on Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. or at many other retail stores like Copps Foods, Hy-Vee, or the University Bookstore just to name a few. There’s even a reduced fee pass for retired persons and another for low income persons. You can see if you qualify online. The busses are mostly clean, the drivers are extremely helpful if it’s your first time or you need a transfer. Lastly, In 2007 Madison bought 5 Hybrid electric busses… way to be green Madison Metro!
