I brought my dog here based on good reviews I had read a few years ago. She came in healthy and happy and I paid for her to be in one of their executive suites with extra playtime as well. Sadly like many of the reviews I am reading now, she also came home from about a week stay, sick, throwing up, and dehydrated. Wouldn’t recommend this place.

We took our your lab puppy here a few months ago to try out daycare — we were very specific on the phone that it was for daycare, to interact with the other dogs and see how he did. When we picked him up that evening I asked if I could go back and see where he was «playing». They looked at me kind of funny but proceeded to take me back through rows and rows of kennels and barking dogs to where he finally was, stuck back in a cage by himself where he had been all day! Turns out they didn’t have in their notes that he was there for daycare and we paid to keep him isolated and crated, which we could have done at home for free. We have tried daycare again since it is convenient to the house but this morning we had another issue and will not be back. Last week when I picked him up there was another customer at the counter clearly unhappy with some boarding issues and indicating he would not be back. I can understand why now.

Don’t get your dog groomed here! Its cheap for a reason. I made it very clear exactly how I wanted my dog to be groomed and mentioned a few times how particular I am, have high expectations etc… The groomer promised me she would take excellent care of my goldendoodle and would make her look beautiful. She told me I had nothing to worry about. When I picked my dog up she was limping and looked like a toddler had given her a haircut. No Bueno folks! Don’t do it!

I took my very happy and healthy 10 year old dog to this place to stay for 5 days. They have a pool and that’s why I chose this place. When I returned to pick her up she had lost 5#, had bad diarrhea, was very dehydrated and had a bad kidney infection. She was very very sick. She spent the next 4 days in ICU at my vets office. They pushed IV fluids and antibiotics the whole time. Over $ 2000. Later she came home very weak and lethargic. I know in my heart if she had stayed longer we would have lost her DUE TO THEIR NEGLECT!
If anyone was caring for her did they not see her not eating? Did they not see the diarrhea running out of her. She was so sick so there was NO WAY they swam her twice. However they charged us for it.
Please pass my story around. I trusted them with my precious baby girl AND THEY ALMOST KILLED HER.

Do not board your pet here! The price they quote is not the price you pay. I had called to book a boarding and grooming and the girl asked if I wanted to add anything extra such as playtime, etc. I specifically said NO. When my husband dropped off the dog, the girl again asks if he wanted anything else. My husband said whatever my wife asked for and of course we were charged for extras that I did NOT initially requested. When I called to see if this could be resolved, the girl was rude and defensive. Nothing was done to resolve the issue. No customer service whatsoever! I should have listened to the other pet owners in the neighborhood that warned me about this place. Never again!

This review is just about the grooming services not for boarding:
We took our 7 month old shaggy puppy here to get his hair under control. Jenny worked her magic and the dog looks great! She did exactly what we asked and used her best judgement for the things we didnt mention. The dog was bathed and groomed and had his ears and anal glands cleaned (Too much information??). The total was 56 dollars. They also gave the dog a cute bandanna and stuffed toy. We probably wont come here often as the scruffy look suits the dog but maybe come summer time we will come back. I highly recommend Jenny, she treated our dog great and by the end of the appointment it seemed like her and the dog had actually become friends!

Glad some people had good experiences here but ours was terrible. Our loving clean cat spent a week boarding and came back filthy and dehydrated. His paws are covered in hard deposits of cat letter that won’t come off. We spoke to them and they were unapologetic. We will not be returning.

BEWARE!!! We took both of our Australian Shepherds here for grooming. One time after we picked them up, I found a huge clump of hair in my female’s eye. We figured it must have been an isolated incident and took them back to be groomed when it was time again. When we brought the dogs home, our female’s eye was irritated again. I thought «here we go again with the hair in the eye»…but that’s not what it was. Something looked very wrong with her eye so since it was after regular business hours I took her to the emergency vet. They advised me that she had an ulcer on her eye (i.e. it was torn) and gave me something to help her. The next day I took her to my regularly veterinarian and after examining her, he told me that the ulcer was large and extremely serious… and it was caused by a chemical burn that was sustained from the grooming session. I contacted Forest Shadows and they FLAT OUT REFUSED to take responsibility for what happened. They did not even apologize for what happened to her. I ended up paying nearly $ 1000 in vet bills to save my dog from going blind in the eye that had the ulcer. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! They are HORRIBLE!!!

We have boarded our dog (s) here since we moved to The Woodlands almost 9 years ago. Many other family members also have boarded their dogs here and been as happy and impressed as we are. Three years ago we we’re lucky enough to get a labrador retriever puppy from Grace of God’s litter. She is one of the most well bred labradors, her temperament is wonderful and she was very easy to train. When we went away for vacation we had our new dog personally trained there and the results were amazing! I cannot laud enough praise on Forest Shadows!!!

If you love your dog and want it to be safe in another persons hands, DO NOT USE FOREST SHADOWS. I have boarded my dog on three different occasions and every time something new is wrong. He has been attacked, with multiple scars and welts on his back and belly. He has also gone in with perfect health and come home with kennel cough. This alone is enough for me to have to say something. However I have a friend that worked their and has quit, but has told me multiple stories of outbreaks of kennel cough, dogs getting out of the building, and even the death of a dog that got attack by another dog during «play time»
I do not know how these people stay in business other than people not realizing what is going on at this «pet resort». Please do not send your dog to this place

«I was so disappointed in the grooming job on our Yorkie. She looks horrible and it’s all different lengths. I will not be taking our dog back there! I believe it was Jamie who groomed her but can’t say for certain. I know the groomer is new there whoever she was. I just hope our yorkie’s hair grows out sooner rather than later!»

What an awesome lifesaver for us today! We took our 2 year old Havanese, Skully, to the large chain grooming/​pet supplies place around the corner on 1488 (hint: it ended up being NOT SMART)… Said large chain place took our dog for a noon appointment and wouldn’t be done til 3:30 pm. At 1:30 pm, we got a call that our dog was distressed, supposedly matted and they couldn’t finish the grooming per their policy. Please note, he has been groomed more than half a dozen times and has never had a complaint nor a similar situation. When we arrived, we immediately noticed the reason he was «distressed” — their groomer had sliced his little leg. He was bleeding. We quickly left and refused their offer to let him go home with one of the groomers so she could finish (seriously!!!)
Per our vet’s recommendation, we went around the corner to Forest Shadows. Within 10 minutes, the friendly staff kindly took our pup and within one hour, he was beautifully groomed, silky soft and smelling better than he ever has. The groomer had long dark brown hair and she did an awesome job. They were all compassionate and professional. We will definitely go back regularly. Oh and the whole grooming session was $ 40 plus $ 16 for a couple of necessary upgrades but it was well worth it. He is happy and handsome, much different than he was after we left the big chain bad guys.

Have been boarding my dogs here for the past few years and overall, we love it. Just can get a little chaotic to drop off and pick up, but I know my dogs are in good hands.
