McDermott Pumping

Whatever you do, don’t call McDermott plumbing or pumping. We scheduled an appointment a week in advance for septic pumping and 2 other minor plumbing problems. It ended up I needed to be away in the afternoon of the day they were coming out. I called at 8 in the morning to confirm what time they would be able to come out. They had no idea and complained that they are given a list of 30 jobs to go to and can’t give me a time. So, I said lets just reschedule the plumbing fixes until Monday and asked if that would be better for them. He said probably, and I then asked if they could schedule me as one of the first appointments in the morning, again was told about the list of 30 jobs to do so couldn’t tell me a time. The next thing I heard on Monday morning was that they would be out before 9, I called them and said that was fine but I wouldn’t be home until 8:45 if they were planning on coming out earlier than that.
Here I am and it is 10:30. So I called again and asked where they were, they were very confused and said I told them not to come before 8:45!?! I said yes, but I still wanted you to come at 9, I was being courteous and telling you I wouldn’t be home before 8:45.
The guy got very condescending and somewhat antagonistic and said I will call him and see if he can get back to you!!! So it is now ½ an hour later and, surprise, still hasn’t called me back.
By the way the septic guy did show up on Friday, but he was supposed to call before he came so I could have someone let him in the backyard. Surprise, he never called either. I guess they are sooooo busy they don’t need my business. Good luck!!!

I read the reviews and thought, I’ll still give them a shot. They don’t follow through or call back. The girl in the office did it twice. If she’s not family I have no idea how she has a job there.

There must be two McDermott Plumbing companies, otherwise I don’t understand what some of the reviewer are talking about!
McDermott Plumbing, in Malibu, is one of the best plumbing company I have ever used. They are available for emergencies and arrive quickly and fix things fast and efficiently. Their prices are very reasonable. I am a Real Estate Broker and I recommend McDermott Plumbing to my clients all the time. I have been using them as my plumbers for over 15 years and am very happy with their work.

I am surprised by some of the other reviews on here. I had always used A&B plumbing in the past for my septic. After finding McDermott, I will never go back. Their prices are more reasonable and they are more honest. I did have a scheduling problem once when I had an emergency, but it got worked out.

This has to be the worst plumber we have ever encountered. Came out for a clogged pipe outside and we ended up with a hole and the plumber stating he could not help. Unbelievable.
If you are looking for good plumbers, call Conejo Valley Plumbing. They will get the job done right the first time around.

I spent over $ 1000.00 on their «services» to resolve a septic problem and had to hire another contractor to complete the job, useless.

AVOID!
Called them to do a simple septic pump. Not cheap. I have cash in hand to pay them. Mentioned I had a steep road. They said, «no problem». We’ll send someone out tomorrow to look first. Tomorrow came. I stayed home from work. No one showed up. No one called. Called again a day or so later. They said «Oh gosh, yeah. that’s right. I forgot. Let me call the guy. I’ll call you right back.» Want to guess? Yeah. No call. Called again today just for fun. «OH WE ARE SO SORRY. Let us call you back.» Hah! Yeah. No. They. Didn’t. Totally unprofessional. Agree with the other reviewers. Terrible company.
If their work is anywhere as disorganized, sloppy and mismanaged as their office, they will totally screw up your plumbing. Shockingly cavalier, screw-​you attitude. Like trying to do business with the Three Stooges. Avoid at all costs!

I had a water heater leak this past Friday. I called and asked if they could come out to fix it Friday… They came right out with a very attractive worker I might add!!! Water heater all fixed… Very nice man.

A terrible company. Had a septic tank that kept overflowing due to intrusive tree roots in the line but they kept blaming the occupants of the house on their «excessive water usage» and «excessive toilet paper usage» which wasn’t the case at all. They gladly kept coming out and pumping over and over and taking my money until I finally begged them to investigate further which revealed the tree roots. I feel completely taken advantage of.

I called McDermott Plumbing in Malibu on Friday morning, about a clogged kitchen sink. I was told someone would be out that afternoon. I had to rearrange my schedule in order to be home to wait for them, and could not use my kitchen AT ALL! When no one showed up or called by 4:00 pm, I called them and was told they would have to come on Saturday. So, once again, today we waited, and when no one showed up or called, once again I had to call and leave a message on their machine. They called us back at 2:00 to say they would come on Monday!!! Nope… I’ll use another company from now on!

This company is terrible. I had a water heater leak. They came out quickly to look at it. They gave me a quote and I’ve called them at least 10 – 20 times over the last few weeks to set up getting it replaced. They’ve got one excuse after another and keep telling me they’ll «call back in ten minutes» with when they can get someone out.
I can understand delays from time to time but these guys are ridiculous. I definitely do not recommend using them.
