Specialties

Community Skis builds custom skis starting at $ 450 with a raw aesthetic, to $ 650 with fully custom graphics. Designing your skis is easy and super fun. You can stop in and sit down with our executive ski smith Kristin Broumas. She’s designed over 1500 sets of custom skis for Intermediate skiers to professional skiers. You’ll receive a large format print out that visually and textually explains how your custom ski will perform, for free. You can also design your skis starting on our website.

We also offer a «Build your own ski workshop,» gift certificates, world class prototyping, demos, support for educators who are building skis with students, and ski clinics.

Please stop by the showroom/factory for a 10 minute tour. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you have.

History

Established in 2008.

Community Skis is rooted in 333 Skis, a trailered manufacturing facility. We built skis off grid with solar power. Our approach to fully custom manufacturing at an affordable price has kept the company moving forward. In 2012, we decided to move to our current location on Berner street, in Mammoth Lakes. We renamed the company to Community Skis which reflects our commitment to a community rooted business.

Meet the Business Owner

Michael L.

Business Owner

Starting in the late 80’s before snowboards, Michael and his mother, Kiyoko started building monoskis. When snowboarding appeared on the horizon, Michael retooled his shop and started Yama snowboards. His long career has taken all over the states and as far as China setting up factories and training crews. With over 30 years of manufacturing experience, he is probably one of the longest innovators in the industry who is still on the factory floor. Michael introduces vertically laminated poplar ¾″ strip core stock into the industry. The taper deck used in small shops for core profiling, the bladder press, cassette tooling, multi beam press stacks, deep V swallow tails, carving monoskis, horizontal 9 ply core stock, fast tech vacuum pressing, triaxial fiberglass in snowboard manufacturing, fully custom skis, off grid manufacturing.

Michael has poured his creativity in both the design and tooling fabrication of the Community Skis shop on Berner Street most recently.
