Viewpoint Condominiums

Overall nice condo with location close to all. Critique falls on the common area jacuzzi, which is green with algae and unusable to sooth muscles after a day on the slopes. We stayed in unit 144, which had good beds, tv in each room, and nice furniture. Only criticism is a lack of dresser space for clothes.

Great place to rent a longer term vacation condo. We went in the summer so the prices were much much lower than a winter rate. Perfect location, one block from Whisky Creek and two blocks from the gondola village. Totally walking distance.
The condo we had was perfect. I’m pretty sure we were in 168. One queen bedroom and full bath downstairs, upstairs was two twin beds and a full bath. Really comfortable for our family of four. The kitchen is small but servicable… all the major appliances and also some pantry staples. Small dining table plus bar seats at the kitchen. Flat screen TV with comfortable seating. Also comes with all linens. Sometimes when you vacation rent you have to bring your own but not here.
There is a small pool if you come in the summer.
All in all if you are looking for a decent rental, clean, nice staff, excellent location and not going to break the bank, then this is the perfect place to park your fanny for some Mammoth fun!

The location is amazing! Very, very short walk to the village without paying village lodging prices. The grounds are beautiful. The management tends to my every need– they go above and beyond every time I have a question or request. You can’t beat the prices. I would never stay anywhere else in Mammoth Lakes.

My family, friends, and I have been going here for 14 years and have only missed out on staying here 2 years. We always knew it was a great deal, but decided to try out other places just in case, but the other places didn’t compare and I doubt any would. It’s not the fanciest place in town, but it’s most definitely the best deal for the money.
As mentioned in other posts, it is a hit or miss on which condo. you get, they vary greatly, but view pics. and you can always call and chat with the staff who are very honest.
The spa, sauna, and game room are always a great addition and perfect for relaxing. It’s a very short walk to the gondola and I’m a skiier, so carrying all my gear and still considering it a short walk, means it’s truly a short walk.

Bottom line: I don’t think you can find a better value for lodging in Mammoth. They have earned our loyalty.
PROS:
+The prices are very reasonable, all things considered. You may find cheaper, but not with the same amenities or location. You may find more amenities, but you’ll pay a lot more for it. It’s just a great value.
+The location can’t be beat. Right across from Whiskey Creek and a 5 minute (tops) walk from the Village gondola up to Canyon Lodge, it’s so unbelievably convenient.
+The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Whenever we’ve had problems, they’ve always been happy to help.
+The «deluxe» rooms are indeed quite nice. 109 in particular is our room of choice, if it’s available.
+Love the Jacuzzi, sauna, pool table, and ping pong table. Great for unwinding after a long day.
+Really good for groups of about 4 – 8. Smaller than 4, you probably will want to get a hotel room somewhere else. Bigger than 8, probably rent a condo/​cabin.
CONS:
–Room quality is very hit or miss if you don’t get one of the deluxe rooms. Some have been nice (ish), but a few have been subpar and in need of some serious upgrading/​updating. We just try to book a deluxe room from the outset now. If you don’t, you MIGHT just get stuck in a room with busted up equipment, old carpet, and ugly décor. Remember, these units are owned by various individuals, so the quality really does vary.
–The WiFi is so slow. Ugh. Since we only book the deluxe rooms now, this would be my only remaining complaint.

Traditionally abled customers only!!! If you have a disability, do not waste your time with this place. They do not accept Service Dogs, and are ignorant of the FEDERAL LAWs pertaining to service dogs. I was told, via email, that they do not accept them, and a «sorry» was all the only reason given. My family has been coming here for 20+ years, I’m extremely disappointed by Viewpoint’s ableism and outdated policies.

My friends and I have been hitting this place for about 7 years now. During winter I can honestly say one of us has booked a unit, or two, or three, pretty much every weekend.
There are several reasons why this place has won our loyalty.
First, the location is great-​within walking of the Gondola and Village. Second, the value can’t be beat-​and trust me I look around, Third, the service and on site staff rock. Any time I have an issue they are there and they are sooooo nice and accommodating with thangs such as early check ins, late check outs, parking, helping with snow chains, and letting us leave our cars there the last day. Fourth, the online website is superb and makes booking a place easy. Fifth, I like the jacuzzi and sauna.
Now I won’t lie and say every unit is attractive, well appointed, in full working order, and impeccably kept/​clean in fact I complained my last visit on 1÷22÷12 about the housekeepers being lax. The management responded with an apology email stating they had a new cleaning service that they hope would do better.
Do remember each unit is individually owned and some owners choose to doll up and maintain their condos more so than others. And truth be told the complex is an older one and yes the heating and plumbing can be off sometimes. however this does not dissuade the MVP boarder who wants convenience, value, and service which I/​we get at Viewpoint.
I do feel very comfortable working with the staff and that’s saying a lot. Because I organize snow trips not only for friends but strangers online as well, this fact is very important to me. We will continue to stay at viewpoint for many snow seasons to come if they continue to take care of moi and mine…

Been coming to this place for over 5 years. If you have a group of less than eight people, you can’t beat it for value! Not the most modern furnishings, but its location only one block from the Village gondola more than makes up for it. Friendly, helpful staff! They often will give a discount if you reserve a room for the coming weekend on Tuesday or later.
Note: The office is closed from 10AM until 2PM.

Our condo was clean, spacious, and had a nice view, it was perfect for our needs. All of the condos have different owners so make sure you look on the website, some of the condos are much nicer than others, The location was awesome and you can easily walk downtown. We stayed for a week and the price was unbeatable. We will never stay anywhere else.

My #1 favorite place to stay in Mammoth. Hands down, the location can’t be beat and the prices are awesome for what you get. It’s not the most beautiful, updated condo complex you can find, but the value is superb. I can’t say enough about the location and the price you pay for being so close to the village and the gondola (in spite of 70s décor in many of the units still!) I’ve been staying with them for years now. Office staff is very friendly and you just get used to the hours and the towel exchange thing. Be sure to check the location of your condo on the onlin map, for proximity to the gondola trail and to the jacuzzi/​office. Some of the condos are pretty far flung from both. And be warned each unit has its own hot water heater, but they’re only 40 gallons and so the last person of the day to take a shower will get cold water unless everyone takes super short showers. But a great place to stay!

Not impressed!
— office is closed from 10am-​2pm, which means they don’t take phone calls either! you need 4 hrs for lunch?
— properties still retained their 70s décor AND 70s carpet. Look! If the carpet looks older than me, we have a problem!
— how the heck is a girl suppose to take a shower with a tiny little drizzle coming out of the showerhead?
Now, location is superb, I definitely count my blessings when we were all drunk stumbling back from Whiskey Creek. However, there’s a steep uphill road to get from Main St to the condos, and it takes a super athlete like me to be able to walk without falling while hammered in 5″ stiletto boots. –applause– thank you!

I haven’t even stayed there yet and I’m already a fan. I am playing travel agent for a group trip (18 people) for the weekend. The website, while basic, is pretty easy to navigate and gives you a good idea of the units you have to choose from. Additionally, if you book online, you can save $ 5 off the rate and the cancellation policy is much more flexible than many other locations I researched.
I can’t say enough about the accessibility and friendliness of the staff. They are available when they say they are and answer e-​mails/​phone calls promptly.
I am really looking forward to our trip and will report after the weekend’s events.

Finally reporting after our stay in February. The units were clean, decently sized. The one bedroom + loft comfortably fit 18 people for a group dinner! Can’t say enough about the front desk staff and they came to our rescue when we accidentally locked our gear in the lockers!
A hop, skip and a jump from the Village. We definitely plan to come back.

We came up for the President’s Day holiday weekend. It’s a great place to crash while riding for the weekend, it’s not luxury, just nice place near the Village (which is key for ‘stumbling back’).
We got a one bedroom which sleeps six; two in the bedroom, two on the pullout in the living room, and one per each of the two bunk beds. The bunk bed area is a nice touch, it’s its own little side area that closes up… so if you have six, you’ll be good to go.
The location is great… it’s about a half a block from Whiskey Creek and about five minutes from the lift. You can just walk alongside the road or you can cut through the path in the woods, as my friend dubbed it, «Rape Alley.» So just be careful at night, it definitely is dark and if you are a female, definitely have some friends with you.
The only downside side is a little thing… they’re a bit stingy on towels and toilet paper. Upon check-​in, they give you a couple towels, even though they know you have six in there. You can’t just get more towels (enough for six), you have to walk out to the office and «exchange» them. There was a big hallway closet where they could have just put some in there. And the toilet paper ran out super quick (when the office was closed). The worker gladly gave us more but you have to ask. My same friend joked, «Here are you keys and toilet paper… don’t sh-​t too much!»
But like I said, they’re super friendly and it’s über cheap for the location. I’d definitely recommend. This is a perfect place for a group trip and unlike other condos, you’re not driving around the city tracking down and returning keys.

I love this place! When I head up to Mammoth with my boarding buddies there really isn’t any other place we choose to stay.
It’s amazing there is still a condo with prices that are really reasonable within walking distance of the gondola. And I do mean you walk out the door, walk through the back area, cross the street and get on the gondola to the mountain. Nice, especially nice when you are wiped out from a day of riding.
And bonus, there is a jacuzzi to ease those tired muscles as well as a sauna and my favorite videogame, Ms. Pacman.
If you can find 5 friends and book a standard condo you will have yourself a great weekend at a great price :)
