The Comic Bug

One of the coolest comic book shops in L.A., hosting one of the best FNMs in L.A. Only thing that even comes to mind as a negative is the fact that they don’t sell MTG singles. Other than that, this is the South Bay’s première comic book store, and probably one of the best in the county. They have celeb/​writer/​artist signings regularly, and the last FNM I attended there had over 30 players. Whether you’re a comic book nut or an avid Magic the Gathering player, this place is solid and then some.

They have a wide variety of comics and the owner was friendly. Im definitely coming back

I have been to the Comic Bug several times now and I really dig the place. All the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They answer all my questions every time I go there. Mike the owner is a cool guy that is always asking me if I need any help or assistance. They also have a restroom which is a plus. They sell rare and new items. They also have a lot of events at the shop that I have enjoyed. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is that it doesn’t have great parking. You often have to park in the surrounding neighborhood or at the Trader Joes near by.
If you are looking for a cool shop that sells comics as well as toys and other rarities check this place out.

Absolutely love this place. Their stock ranges from back issues to current to everything in between. It takes a little digging but there’s plenty of hidden gems along the boxes.

This place was amazing! Some of the new on the shelves and the oldies where in good shape and stored properly. I loved the cast and the staff was very helpful. It was a no brainier to set up a pull list there. Definitely will be coming back! The one thing I loved was the fact the guy working today pulled up and showed me variants I wanted. Totally impressed with the place!

I had an opportunity to get Stan Lee to sign a comic book and so I wanted to buy a very old Spider-​Man issue that was written by the man himself. After calling every comic book shop in a 20 mile radius, the Comic Bug was the only place to have any old Spider-​Man comics in stock. Not only that but the guy at the counter was very helpful in recommending which issue would be the best choice to have autographed (and no it wasn’t the most expensive issue). This place also sells supplies for storing comics, which I needed, as well as games, toys, and books. I noticed a large area in the back with several people playing board games which I thought was a very cool thing for the store to provide square footage for. All in all, a gem of a store in our community!

I can’t say enough good things about this store or the people who work there. Not only a great store, but they hold weekly and monthly events for comic fans and aspiring comic creators. They go above and beyond what most comic stores usually offer.
Anecdote: One night we were driving by the store after having dinner. A friend of mine was visiting from out of town and I wanted to show him the shop. It was late and I thought we’d just cup our hands to the window to see inside. Imagine my surprise when I pulled up and saw the store fully lit up and open! It was nearly 11 p.m. on a Friday and they were hosting a game night (Magic the Gathering, I believe). The back of the store was full of people enjoying their favorite game, but best of all, the store was open and the guy working the register was really friendly and helpful. I was able to show my friend around the store and he was quite impressed with the vast selection, openness, cleanliness, of the store.
In summary: It’s a great place!

I have to be honest, I hadn’t really ever heard of this shop but was pleasantly surprised with how much stock they had here. Walls of comics and shelves of trades and other back issue tables. Very nice selection. The only downside is parking. There is no lot and street parking has meters. But you can do in the neighborhood around it. Would definitely come back.

come here once a month cause I don’t really got a lot to spend and they have a dollar comics section and when you buy them they give you like a protector thingy and the guy was so nice I can’t describe how kind he was and its so organized my favorite place to go to love how kind they are and nice the employees are. would definitely chill here again.

What a great shop!
I had a few hours to kill while I waited for my family’s flight to come in at LAX, so I picked up my rental car and headed over to Comic Bug since it was only about 20 minutes from the airport, and I sure am glad that I did.
The store is huge and has a MASSIVE selection of new books, variants, back issues and much more. I found a couple of Faust back issues while I was here, and if you know your comics, then you know that you don’t find Faust stocked at just any comic book store. The prices on back issues were competitive and they had all sorts of deals as well, including dollar books, which is also something you don’t see commonly in comic book stores anymore.
While I was there I also saw their in-​store signing schedule, and they get some great people in for signings on what looks like a pretty regular basis. The guys at the counter were cool and outgoing, as were some of the customers that I spoke with while I was there.
I was dreading killing three hours of time at LAX, but instead, The Comic Bug made that time fly by!
I will definitely be visiting The Comic Bug again the next time I’m in L.A.

This is the place I go to for my comic books, great spot. The employees here are super cool. They have a very big selection also, good spot for anyone. Highly recommend this store to anyone whom is already into comics or trying to get into comics, definitely the comic bug!

The is the best comic book shop I have ever been to. They have a great selection of comic books and trades. They also have some really good art books and gaming items. The have events like book signings from both known and independent creaters. Creater meetings once a month and every Wednesday they have a sketch group. It is not just for the artist, but writers and just comic fans as well. They also play a big part in the community by helping out the youth. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable if you are just starting out reading some of yhem can make suggestions off of the tv shows that you like. Plus they do their best to find what you need if they don’t have it. If you are not in the area check out their culver city location. They also have bands that come and play. A big thing for me is as a female I feel very comfortable coming here unlike some shops that shant be named.

Free Comic Book Day! Happy days are here again. All the guys here are knowledgeable and friendly, and they make you feel welcome no matter if you are an expert or not. I love The Comic Bug!!!

Not a huge comic book fan or anything, came here with my cousin who was looking for a gift for someone. The guy working here was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable (and might I add, very patient with all the questions my cousin kept asking). I did notice they have a few of the POP! toys… one of which I was hunting down (the Groot bobble head). They also have a wide selection of graphic novels. Large and clean space, would definitely come back

Updating original review from about a year ago. Still a top notch store with a ton of titles, back issues and trades. They’ve beefed up their collectibles section as well with more figures and Funko items. My only knock against this store (and especially the Culver City location) is that they do a terrible job of following up with special orders and transfers. I’ve had six books that I’ve had requested to be transferred from Culver City down to the Manhattan Beach location over the last six weeks and not only did they forget to send the books over but they didn’t even bother calling. Tremendous waste of time. Wednesdays are super busy here as well so if you don’t get here by noon, the more popular titles are likely to be sold out.

Love this store, they have a great variety, huge wall of comics with great display of new issues and variant covers. Great prices on back issues, not a rip off like other stores. Really cool feature I like that in one section of the store they have certain collections/​story lines of comics that are individual comics all kept together for a package price, this would be an alternative to a graphic novel or collected edition, I think it’s really great because sometimes you want each individual comic, I would love to have that for DC’s Batman The Long Halloween. They have great comic related items in display cases, and all around the store, posters, and figures. Tables you can play card games or read at. Really great store! Definitely check it out.

I am a noob to comics and my first visit was awesome nothing compared to other stores that I would walk in and I would be completely ignored. Not here they welcomed us with arms wide open. Extremely friendly. I came in picked up what I needed. Quick service and free bags and boards. To me the comic bug is my go to comic book store.
I would rather drive to this awesome store then to visit the ones i have closer to me.

The best Comic book shop in southern California. Always great on back issues. With the huge selections and free board and bag with every issue I spend millions and millions of time and dollars here. They always have fun events here too on a regular basis.
I would not go on FREE COMIC BOOK DAY. As much as I love the store every other day, on FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, there are thousands of people here. And you thing I would have learned my lesson after the 2 or 3 time I was here on that day, but I didn’t. You will be in line for 3 to 4 hours, NO JOKE.
Staff is very nice. I have never had bad service here.
