America’s Cleaning Company

After cleaning update:
I had to call this place numerous times and leave multiple messages over a period of a few weeks. When I finally got someone on the phone, he said, «Oh? Is this Sarah? I have you on my call-​back list, I was JUST about to call you.» Yeah. Right. Save it.
There weren’t any morning or early afternoon appointments available for another 2 – 3 weeks. So basically, I had to inconvenience myself to get someone to come on a Friday from 7 – 9 p.m. Fine. Oh, but wait! I got a call that Friday, saying that he made a mistake and it will actually be from 5 – 7 p.m. Seriously? Come on people! Let’s get SOMETHING right here!
So Friday 5 – 7 p.m. it is. I get a call at 4:45 from Carlos saying that the crew is stuck in traffic and they’ll be about 20 minutes late. They show up at 5:30. They get straight to work, asking me what I’d like to focus on. «Just clean the damn place already,» I thought. I was so over this.
When I came back, the place didn’t have that «clean» smell. It smelled regular. I’m sorry, but I LOVE that just-​clean chemical smell that wafts through an apartment after a thorough scrub down. But I didn’t get that. The crew left in a hurry around 7:20 so they could get to their next job (10 minutes before they should have gone). The manager, Carlos, was supposed to come back and check their work after they were done. He didn’t. Although they did a decent job, there were a few clumps of dust left behind that they forgot to sweep up, and I could still see some stuff left on the stove and the bathroom sink that weren’t wiped properly. Maybe I’m being overly picky, but this is why I paid someone else to do it for me, so it could be BETTER than what I can do for myself.
Honestly, for $ 60, I don’t think it was worth it. I don’t live in a mansion. I live in a moderately sized one-​bedroom. I wouldn’t even THINK about paying their normal rate of $ 120 — that’s absolutely absurd. If you didn’t get the Groupon, don’t bother paying full price. Use up your Groupon and roll your eyes like I did and just move on with your life.

DO NOT USE THEM. I had a similar problem to Sarah with the Groupons, but I made a big deal about it and they decided to clean my place. Well, I almost wish they hadn’t showed up. First of all, it was two men that showed up at my apartment. I have no problem with men who like cleaning, but I would feel a little more comfortable with female strangers in my apartment. But these men also seemed to have little experience in cleaning. They stared, dazed and confused and then asked me what to do. They «cleaned» as if they were half asleep, doing everything at a snail’s pace. At one point, they just stopped working and were sitting there. Apparently, they FORGOT that they still had to clean the other room! Then when they were actually «done» they just sat there awkwardly, staring at me. I asked them why they were still here. They told me that they had to wait for their boss to come and see their work, but they had no idea where he was or how long he would be. Nice thought, but I was fed up after everything and told them to leave.
