Tori is very good at haircuts have been very impressed with him. However, management is extremely poor. If your a loyal customer you get a card where after 5 cuts, you get the 6^th one free. They do not honor this. I’ve been to the salon 7 times now and each time they tell me that my card is not valid and that my next cut is free.

I had an excellent haircut from Nina. She was very attentive, helped me figure out what I wanted, and was a great listener. She had excellent attention to detail and gave me exactly what I was looking for. She was also a pleasure to talk to. I was very happy with my haircut.

What a gem in the middle of it all! Rosa, the owner, was very welcoming and friendly. I went for a Brazilian blowout, but what amazed me was how Rosa cut my hair. I feel amazing with it. This place is far from me, but I’m glad I took it’s recommendation. I had a great experience, and I left quite happy. Till next time, Rosa!

I have to update this because I never went back to point out that they didn’t give me the keratin treatment I’d asked for. This salon visit was the beginning of the end for my hair for a while. I guess my hair was too kinky for the stylist to use the keratin treatment we discussed. I know that my hair is kinky. I like it that way.
My hair is very lightly texturized with a chemical. I told the stylist that. I asked a lot of questions once he mixed something together and started putting it in my hair.
— why does it smell like that?
— is this a relaxer?
— does it contain lye or anything like that?
— will it permanently alter the structure of my hair?
— so it’s not a chemical? …it smells kind of chemicallyish.
Maybe he didn’t know the answers to my questions and he had already put the cream on a small portion of my hair. I wish I had just asked him to rinse that out.
I wish I could remember the name of the product he used. I wonder if it’s still on the market. He sent me home with a bottle of the recommended shampoo and I researched the product he put in my hair. It’s basically another version of Rio! for those of you who remember that craze. My hair fell out everywhere the product was placed (that’s root to tip, y’all). It was such a nightmare. There were clumps of hair everywhere: on my pillowcases, in the shower, on the floor, on the person standing close to me on the train.
If you are a stylist and someone asks you if something is «like a relaxer» and it is, just say yes. If this had happened when I was completely natural, they would’ve heard from me. As it was I was too sad to do much of anything at the time.

I’m another loyal Nina customer. If you give her a try you probably won’t ever need to find another barber again. She always does a great cut and is super nice. The people at Beleza are also super friendly. Very pleasant experience.

Beleza is a cute salon. Farida is amazing! I have been her client for many years and followed her from another salon that closed. She is very talented and a great stylist. If you need a stylist in the city and are nervous about getting a bad haircut, trust me she does a perfect job every time. I always get compliments after she has cut and styled my hair! I have also brought many of my friends there and they have had the same experience!

Nina has been cutting my hair for years now. I followed her from the old place by Grand Central and she has always done an excellent and consistent job. Her pricing is great though I’d pay more for her service and skill. You can’t go wrong — ask for Nina!

After years of bouncing around the city looking for a good barber, I came across Nina at Tony’s and haven’t looked anywhere else since! She recently moved to Beleza and I gladly went with her. She’s great and I always walk out with a perfect haircut. And between the straight razor and warm towel, it feels more like a spa treatment than your run-​of-​the-​mill barber shop.
As for the establishment itself, it’s nice and spacious, very convenient for those working in midtown and everyone I’ve come across has been incredibly friendly. Highly recommend going here.

Nina has been doing a great job cutting my hair since she was at Tony’s Barber Shop by Grand Central. Tony’s closed down (due to the building demolished), and she’s now at Beleza Tropical. If you need a quick, high quality, affordable mens cut I highly recommend her.

This is a great hair salon located on the street-​level of 42^nd Street, right next to the New York Public Library on 5^th Avenue. All the staff are very polite and respectful, it’s a very clean salon — the cleanest ever! — and Rosa, who is the owner and runs the salon — is a joy to work with.

This is the best place in midtown to get your hair done. If you only have a short amount of time, no worries. Rosa is amazing. She gets me in and out of the chair in under an hour, no matter what type of style I am getting done. My hair always looks great and I’m constantly getting compliments when I leave her salon. I live in Brooklyn but travel all the way to the city to do my hair. That definitely tells a lot.

I work in midtown and sometimes partake in a Groupon men’s haircut deal to check out what’s available. Normally, I would steer clear of locations within a few blocks of, say, Grand Central, Times Square, Penn Station, etc. But was worth trying.
First note is this place is worth checking out, and it’s a shame that there’s construction scaffolding making it not stand out as well as it could.
I got one of the best haircuts I’ve had in years. Larry was a master with scissors and even trimmed me up with a straight edge. Everyone was extremely polite and professional as well.
Also, this place is VERY clean, and I intend on returning.

Go see Rosa she does it all-​Brazilian blow out, color, ombré, cuts you name it. She puts in work! I basically spent my afternoon there but it was well worth it. Easy to get to but also easy to miss due to the scaffolding/​construction upstairs. Men and women come in for lunchtime trims or full service afternoons (me). Waxing and nail service also available on only certain days def call ahead of time if you are getting more than hair done.
Also for the curly/​kinky crowd such as myself Rosa UNDERSTANDS she is one of us! and beautifully accommodates a natural or straight look.

I love the friendliness of Rosa and her staff.
She does a great job on my hair that is long. It is very difficult to find hair salons that can style my carribbean frizz prone hair. She is able to give me volume and shine with no extra hair products or flat ironing. I’ve been coming here for over 3yrs and don’t allow anyone else to color or cut my hair anymore.
Would love If they offered blow out specials on certain days so I can come more often

For my whole life I’ve been searching for a decent hairdresser, but up unitl I went to Beleza Tropical I’d never been back twice to the same salon. Now I won’t go anywhere else. Tanya are great, so friendly without being too in your face, and you’ll get a great head massage from Giovana too. I would definately recommend this salon to anyone!

I have been a customer of Beleza Tropical for a few years and am always very happy with the results thanks to Rosa’s wonderful talent and skills. I receive many compliments from co-​workers as well as family friends how healthy and shiny my hair looks. Regardless if I have an appointment or walk-​in the quality of the service is excellent.
Overall the entire staff is very friendly and attentive from the minute I walk in to the minute I leave. I am very thankful to have found a great salon within walking distance to my office.

I walked in during my morning commute to get a blow out. The price is reasonable, with shampoo its about $ 45 for medium length hair. Carlos was very efficient and quick and I was in and out of the salon in less than 20 minutes. He’s also very friendly and engaging and very thorough. It’s located on 42^nd street between 5^th Ave and Madison Ave right next to Laila Rowe. It’s attached to a fragrance/​beauty supply store and it’s not crowded in the mornings before 9 a.m. I will be going back there to see Carlos again soon!

Though the prices are a high, I came in here thanks to a Groupon for a Braz Blow Zero. My Brazilian hairstylist was friendly and she did an AMAZING job. I haven’t been back since because I’m not too keen on dropping $ 400+ for my hair but if you come across a Living Social or Groupon deal for this place, I’d highly recommend it.

Carlos was recommended to me by a friend who works as a high-​powered corporate executive. Her hair always looks terrific. And now, mine does, too!
Beleza Tropical Hair Salon is centrally located and a simple commute from almost anywhere. Booking an appointment is easy and Carlos keeps an amazing schedule. Everyone there is friendly and exceedingly talented.
I have short hair that is quite thick and difficult to manage. Carlos has given me a layered look that only needs trimming every four to six weeks. He is also a master colorist. His highlights look completely natural and grow out beautifully.
