There are many framers in NYC who can matt a picture or photo, but the folks at Carnegie Hill Framing have the artistic eye and exceptional skill to go above and beyond a simple job. I brought them two challenging framing projects: a page from an illuminated manuscript and a piece of hand embroidered cloth. In both cases they came up with inventive ideas that set off the object and then executed the work beautifully. Their pricing was a little on the high side, but I feel I paid them for their ideas as well as their craftsmanship.

I try to support local businesses, but now regret going to Carnegie Hill Framing on Lexington Avenue between 90th & 91st street. They framed a watercolor for me and within 2 days the artwork was sitting crooked in the frame. Doesn’t that defeat the whole point of framing? Not only are they incompetent framers but the customer service is lacking as well. They rarely answer the phone and when they do, the manager is never there. Avoid!
