These guys will always charge you extra for something. They’re rarely on time. They will demand you write a Positive Unilocal review in from of them.

Hi everyone! I have never put any review in Unilocal yet, but Grand Merci moving company deserves the only great words! If you ever need very affordable and high quality moving service you will never find any company which could be at least close to Grand Merci. I’ve moved billion times in my life and always tried to find the best company and finally I have got it. If you book then you can be not afraid of getting overcharged or scammed. Moving companies always promise you all the world but then just screw you. All of them but Grand Merci. There is my last experience I have had:
I needed pretty huge service cuz I was moving from 3 bedroom apartment in Manhattan to Staten Island. I booked 24 foot truck (this is really big ass truck), because I had a lot of stuff, at 8 am. I was pretty scared if movers come late and I could get problems with building management (I had to make an elevator reservation two weeks before). And I had just 4 hours window to get the loading done. And honestly I was not sure if it’s even possible (as I wrote above I had literally A LOT OF stuff). In a day X I got the call at 7 am from the driver (Alex) for final confirmation. He was very nice and friendly and he let me know that the truck is on it’s way to me. At 7.45 am I got another call from him from downstairs. Sharp at 8 am Alex Daniel and Jam were already in my apartment with all necessary equipment to get the job started. Despite of bunch previous movings before I was not absolutely ready. I needed a lot of boxes, wardrobes, blankets to get my stuff packed and wrapped. These guys brought all of it. They were super professional and fast. At the end of loading I didn’t have anything unprotected. They could fit all my couches, mattresses, dressers, bookshelves, closets, tables, chairs, TVs and million boxes in truck so easy like they were playing Tetris. They got the loading done in three (!!!) hours! I was surprised cuz it was 3 hours less than time it took to bring half of this stuff in my apartment 7 months ago. They were working as robots and I didn’t even notice then having few minutes break! Conversely I tried to made them rest at least a bit but they said that getting the loading done in time is their priority and they did it! Special thanks to their leader Alex who disassembled three beds in 20 minutes!!! To say I was shocked means nothing to say! The loading was done extremely careful and fast!
After loading they were heading straight to destination address and got the place real quickly. They were not trying to play for time like any other company would do. Once they reached my house in Staten Island I have got the bill. The moving policy is paying the bill before getting started unloading and I had no reasons to be afraid of getting my stuff thrown to street (unfortunately I have experience like that). They put 3 more hours for unloading as an estimating which is way too less than I thought (because now they had to bring all stuff into three floor house and surely it’s much harder than using elevator). And you know what? They got it done again! They made me believe that impossible is possible:) at the end of job I had all my stuff assembled back even better than it was before. Every piece was in excellent condition in right place. All moving took 7 hours and I payed the bill almost two times less than I expected. Thatswhy I was absolutely happy to tip these guys as they deserved. Alex, Daniel and Jam proved their professionalism.
If I could put 100 stars I would do it with no doubt. Grand Merci moving company is the best of the best. I will never use any other crew if I ever move again. I will be happy to refer them to all my friends. They made my moving so easy and stress less. You guys definitely worth to be called the best! Thank you very much again!

Alex and company were fantastic! They were fast, efficient and friendly. The only reason I took away a star is because once they got to my place they mentioned that gas was going to be extra on top of what they quoted me over the phone. However I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for inexpensive movers that won’t destroy their stuff.

They blew my move! I called «Mark» who quoted me $ 140 to move a sofa from UWS to Chelsea. I explained that I needed an insured moving company and he said «Of course we are insured, no problem.» When I called back to book the truck he raised the price by $ 60 telling me it was for the insurance. The first call he neglected to explain the insurance was extra. I sent him the certification of insurance request form with all the info and asked him specifically, while on the phone, to «Please make sure to call or text or email me to confirm you sent the CERT to the bldng mgmt as soon as you do it.» I texted him the same request and emailed him the same request to let me know when it was done. They didn’t do this and so we couldn’t reserve the elevator when we needed it. I mean, he gives me attitude on the phone, dials up the price with the extra insurance fee after the initial quote, then blows the move with poor communication. What a waste of time!!!

This was an Awesome moving company! Alex and his associates saved my butt, lol. The first moving company fell through and he came right in time as a back-​up, same day. I won’t lie and say we weren’t off to a rough start due to a misunderstanding, but they worked efficiently, effectively and quickly. I plan to recommend Alex to friends in the near future!

Who knew Craigslist had such great options after another company bailed on me because apparently no one wants to work on a holiday Grand Merci Moving came to my rescue. They called day before to confirm which I absolutely loved. Alex and Alexi also called 20 minutes before arrival time at 8:30 a.m. I had everything packed and disassembled in living room and they immediately got to work. Both men were gracious and funny. They moved just as quickly moving me from my 1^st floor apartment to my 4^th floor apartment which I was grateful for since I had to get to my job by 12:00 p.m.

A great service at a better price. Something value for money. Very friendly movers. Take beautiful care of your stuff.

I used Grand merci’s movers to move a one bedroom apartment from a third floor walk-​up in Brooklyn to my house in Central Jersey. Great communication, everything was done through e-​mail and responses were almost instant. The three guys were polite, friendly and professional. This move was a pain in the ass and took longer and was more difficult than expected but they did not charge us more than what we were quoted. Would highly recommend!

These guys are the only movers I will ever call. I went with them from New Jersey to Astoria, Queens, and just this past weekend again to go from Astoria to Bensonhurst. Both times the crew showed on time up and was super nice, extremely fast & efficient, and relieved so much stress I can’t even explain it. This last one was by far the easiest move I’ve ever experienced, we were done in 4.5 hours and I were cracking open the inaugural beers at 2pm!

Their prices are competitive. I was worried with paying them by the hour but they didn’t slow down in any way.

My husband and I recently moved from New York to Chicago with grand merci. These guys are super professional and responsive. They packed up our belongings safely and arrived exactly when they promised. The whole crew was really nice! The other great thing was they really are flat rate– no added hidden costs when our things showed up in Chicago. Highly recommend for long distance moves!

I had scheduled another mover from Craigslist to get a bed for me from Midtown West to my place on the Upper East Side and they bailed on me last minute. Fortunately I called Grand Merci and they were able to accommodate me within 2 hours. They picked up bed, brought it to me and assembled. Very nice and professional. It was more expensive than original mover i had scheduled, but at that point I just needed something to sleep on. The only thing that really made it more expensive was the 2 hour minimum, but that is understandable, especially given the short notice. Thanks!

Would never use again, told us $ 55 for one hour for two guys, we said we didn’t have that much to move just needed a quick help only one hour. They showed up with three guys, then after they loaded our stuff in their truck said it would be $ 250 and two hour minimum!!! Not at all what we were told over the phone, once we negotiated another price, they were rough with our items and even took our bag of screws not even bothering to tell us and return. As part of our negotiated lower price they demanded a good Unilocal review. I am editing this review to explain what happened.

I arranged for the service over a phone conversation with one member of the team: told him specifically that moving out of a walk up building on the 5^th floor and moving in into an apartment building with an elevator. However, when his partner arrived an hour later from the arranged time, he informed me that he wasn’t aware of the stairs and he would have to charge me extra. I don’t care about little extra they charged me, but I do care the fact that they didn’t respect the initial deal.
I have a few furniture, but a lot of clothes and books. It took them over 5 hours to bring my staff from a studio apartment. Then another 2 hours to get from UES to Fort Lee, NJ «too much traffic.» I know NYC can be very congested, so I can’t comment. And another 2 hours to unload and bring my staff into the apartment.
I had a few dishes broken, on my labeled with red marker «Fragile» boxes. However, it could have been my own mistake of poor packing.
The guys took apart my love seat and bed, and once in the new apartment, assembled them back together. That was very helpful. Thank you.
Be aware of extra charges for gas/​stairs/​toll/​driving back… I spent way more than initially anticipated.
Overall everything worked out, they finished the job, but I wouldn’t hire them again. They have been extremely pushy. I’ve been very exhausted mentally and physically with this move, but the guy insisted I leave a Unilocal review the day of the move. When I didn’t do it, he called and sent me text message the next day. I had to go to work the next day @5am, this isn’t my day’s priority! So, three days later, here is my review of your business.

Mark and the other mover whose name I can’t remember were AWESOME. Seriously. We were absolutely exhausted and hadn’t planned for using movers — so we called them super last minute (they came within the hour). We were moving from Chinatown to Brooklyn, and we didn’t even need a truck — just two guys for labor for about an hour (getting the truck emptied and mattress/​bags up a 4^th floor walk-​up.) Even better — they are waaay way way cheaper than their craigslist last-​minute competitors! Another company almost sucked us into paying $ 220 for 2 guys for *up* to 2 hours while these guys got EVERYTHING done in LESS than an hour, and then put together my bed for me — all for only $ 55! because they’re fantastic.

Great moving company! I called them to move some furniture and they were able to do it on the same day. They even arrived a little bit earlier than we scheduled. They were very careful with moving the furniture and wrapped everything up very carefully. Moved everything super fast! Extremely professional and friendly.
I accidentally gave them the wrong address and they were very understanding. Strongly recommend them and will definitely contact them again when moving anything in the future.

I have bought some furniture from 3 different locations within Manhattan and I used Grand merci moving again. They showed up on time at 2pm and finished the job in less then 3 hrs including driving

These guys are absolutely great! I needed to have a large piece of furniture removed from my apartment and they showed up within 30 minutes of my call. They were extremely professional, and even disassembled the wardrobe because it didn’t fit down the stairs.
I highly recommend them — amazing services for moving in the NY area.
