This is now my favorite optical store. The eye exam doctor helped me find comfortable and proper-​fitting contact lenses, which is tricky when it’s for mono vision bifocals! I also was very impressed by Ben, who works the sales counter. Not only is he kind and efficient and professional, but he also expertly moved the lenses from my broken frame into a new, reasonably priced frame. Best of all, MK2 is just one block from the N Q R and 6 Train at Canal Street.

Got a half year supply of contacts here and was really pleased! The staff was very friendly and straight forward. My ophthalmologist (not affiliated with the store) wrote me a prescription for my old brand of contact lenses but didn’t tell me that the brand I had was discontinued. MK2 set me up with comparable contacts and gave me a free sample to wear to make sure they were comfortable. Also loved that they gave me a free bottle of contact solution. They had my contacts ready after only a couple days.

I personally have been here 3 years in the past 8 years to get three pairs of glasses and daily contact lenses. Consistent service. Good variety of lens and honesty, helpful sales persons.
Accepts most insurance.
Overall, Mott Optical Group has 6 stars and has been in business for over 25 years.
My parents and grandparents have also purchased glasses from one of the stores.

As a customer for over three years, I always go back for their friendliness and their willingness to help. Whenever you drop by, ask for any of the reps and they’ll help you the whole way. Ben assisted me the last time I was there, overall he was superb, recommended a pair of sunglasses for me and helped me adjust the frame to fit me. Ask for him when you’re at MK2. His opinion can be taken into good account.

I’ve been wearing lens for nearsightedness for many years now and like to give a different eyewear store the opportunity for my business. The good reviews for MK2 brought me here but I was tremendously disappointed by the poor customer service here.
I called in advance to make an appointment and asked them to check if they can accept my insurance. The customer rep on the call said he will not explain my insurance to me unless he sees me show up at the store. What was his excuse? It’d cause him great inconvenience to explain over the phone.
Alright, one bad apple. I still wanted to give MK2 a chance to redeem.
I arrived at the store and witnessed a customer there arguing with the employee for «screwing up» something. Ignored it. My customer rep had a look at my insurance and said: It doesn’t cover anything for you. Well, why couldn’t you have told me that over the phone?
«My old eyewear store said my insurance can provide a subsidy, can you please check again?»
«Then why don’t you go back to your old store?» he said abruptly and walked away. Wow, appalling manners and disgusting attitude. I almost dropped my glasses.
So I did. I left and walked 2 blocks to my good, old eyewear shop.

This place is great. The eye doctor was professional, the salesman was efficient and I’m very happy with the glasses I’ve got.
I’ve docked a point because the salesman was very pushy on selling very expensive frames so as long as you can be firm, this is a great place to go to.

I was looking for a good eye doctor that wasn’t going to try to make me spend a ton of money between lenses and glasses. I came across M2K on Unilocal,read the reviews and decided to give them a try. Not only were the open on Saturday and Sunday but they have great deals on frames and they provided EXCELLENT customer service. I usually never leave the eye doctor spending less than $ 150 and today I left spending $ 0! Every person there was helpful, attentive and polite. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thanks guys! I’ll be back

Having once lived in Chinatown, I am moved to say this place has the best customer service I’ve experienced in the neighborhood. The eye doctor is friendly and efficient; she’ll entertain you with pretty passable jokes and a good sense of humor.
The sales force for glasses, contacts, etc. will go out of their way to make sure you get what you want (and maximize your insurance benefits if you have them). Highly recommended.

Very pricey, but so patient when in the hands of the right staff. Worked with my insurance to maximize it, found two sets of fabulous frames, earning rave compliments for me all over the city, and spent months tweaking a challenging prescription, even replacing the progressive lens brands until, harmony of vision was finally achieved — well, for now ;).

They have a friendly staff and you can order a refill of your contacts online or over the phone and just pick it up. Really glad i found them!

Based on Unilocal reviews of opticians near my job, this place seemed like a good option.
My eye exam for contacts (and yes, I have astigmatism) was quoted as $ 145 but it could be applied to the cost of lenses for a year. The estimate on lenses was about $ 400. This seemed reasonable based on my experience with other opticians so I made an appointment.
The store and exam room are clean, staff pleasant and helpful, and I liked the optician who did my exam. They ordered me trial lenses and wrote out a prescription for glasses at my request — no sales pressure for the glasses at all. Once I confirm that the trial lenses work well, I get my year supply of contacts for $ 388. Not a bad deal and certainly much better service than Cohen’s on Maiden Lane. If you’re in lower Manhattan, I’d recommend them.

I never met a store like that, very terrible, the sales are really mean and they all liars!!! I suppose to go there and have my contact lenses, and one of the uncle like person said that the contact is. $ 280 included examination, and thats all he told us about, and then i was fine, cuz i think it worth, but things happen when i finished my eye examination, they told me that the eye contacts are $ 388. For the reason that i have astigmatism！ i was like, what? Why dont you just told me earlier? So that i won’t do the examination ! I was very angry at that time, cuz they don’t explain clearly and that uncle like person said im so sorry to letting you know now! but whatever, u have to paid us the examination fee ($ 95)even though u dont want to have a contact here! At that time, i felt like i was trapped by them !!! So evil they are! I will Never go there ever! If you wanna be trapped? ok! im sure thats the best place you can go!

The people here are informative and courteous without being pushy.
They were very accommodating and offered the lowest price for high index lenses (for glasses) amongst other places I researched.
I had the option of picking up my glasses on the same day (on a Saturday, no less) without an extra charge.
*I purchased replacement lenses for a pair of frames I already owned.

Went to MK2 to purchase my first pair of Ray Bans. As you walk into the store you are welcomed very kindly by the sales rep. I walked into the optical not knowing what type of glasses I wanted and that was when Cristina walked over to help me choose a pair. She was very sweet and took her time in helping me find a pair of sun glasses that suited me. From the many optical that I have been to MK2 performed the best service. Come in and ask for Cristina! She won’t let you down.

Went here a couple months ago. The workers were very friendly, helpful, and patient. Especially, Cristina who helped me pick out a pair of contact lenses that would work well for both my eyes and my budget. She was also very helpful in suggesting that I also do an eye dilation which was free of charge in addition to my eye exam. The store is also a very clean and pleasant environment to be in.

I went in for my annual eye exam here for the 1st time today, and was pleasantly surprised & happy with their extremely courteous & helpful service.
It’s great that this place is open until 6.30pm on Sunday. actually called them at 5pm Sunday and they had availability (flexible, just arrive before 6pm!). They also informed me they are open till 7pm weekdays, which would also be convenient for me to go to after the workday for any follow-​up/​order pick-​ups.
The staff was very patient when it seemed my insurance member ID was not the correct one (I got it mixed up), and offered to help call them tomorrow (next business day). They only charged me for the eye exam (as the «deposit»), while still helping me order 3 month contact lens supply — they’ll figure out any reimbursement later instead of charging me in full right away.
The optometrist was professional, friendly, knowledgeable. Efficient check-​up. Even without using my insurance plan today, the contact lens fitting/​eye exam was just $ 85, half the price of Cohen’s /​Lenscrafters ($ 150-​$ 165 full price). Perhaps these other chains tend to feature MD Ophthalmologists and thus it charge more, but for my needs MK2 optical worked out.
Definitely will go back here again!
