Learn Shorin-ryu Karate with a Bhakti-yoga monk in a temple. Fusing Japanese Shorin-ryu Karate with the Indian Bhakti wisdom tradition, these classes will help you develop body, mind and soul through physical training, philosophy and mantra meditation.
Eastern martial arts were originally developed to help a practitioner following a spiritual path to become self-realized. The rigorous training keeps the body, mind and soul balanced, while strengthening the focus, determination, and control of the mind and senses. The philosophy helps the practitioner understand the nature of the self, God, and the workings of the world, and how to practically apply it in everyday life. The mantra meditation cleanses deep within the heart, turns the mind into a friend and helps realize the knowledge.
Classes are designed for men only, ages 12 and up.
