Xn nián kuài lè! Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year! Feb. 3, 2011 was the start of the new Lunar year for Asians and this is the Year of the Rabbit! Place– Delight 28 Restaurant, 28 Pell St., NYC10013212−285−8686 NYC Unilocalers welcomed the New Lunar Year with a UYE(Unofficial Unilocal Event) dinner at the restaurant Delight 28 in Manhattan Chinatown. After ordering we had some fun with the lucky Ducky everyone received! Next we raffled off the three valuable & collectible Unilocal Lunch boxes and T-shirts.(Thank You Jane K.!) Then everyone was getting happy with the $ 3 beer and wine. Our table went all out with the 12-course Banquet Dinner($ 288). There was a lot of food left over! The menu included: Stir-fried shredded mushrooms with bean curd wrap Oysters with black moss Hair seaweed(Hoe See Fat Choy) Chow shrimp with mix vegetables Soup– seafood soup with shrimp and scallops House special T-Bone steak– batter fried Double Lobster Shanghai Style– dry sauce Crispy Chicken– whole Steamed flounder with scallions and ginger House special fried rice Long-life noodle with mushroom Cookies Fruit We ended this special evening with a sweet surprise from Chinatown Ice Cream Factory. A large ice cream cake with the Unilocal logo on top. The three layer of ice cream were Red Bean, Black Sesame, and Mango. The Black Sesame was a big hit. And a huge THANKYOU to Jenn L. for starting this event and coordinating the fun! I can’t wait for next year– Year of the Dragon! Place– TBD
