My parents have been taking their cars to Larimer’s for years, and when I inherited the old mom van I came back at their recommendation.
My parents have always said they were lucky to have an honest mechanic, who frankly undercharged them for services. My car wound up needing a new alternator, serpentine belt tensioner, and a belt. While I’m not entirely sure what any of that means, I do know that they took my car from dying in the middle of the road to running just fine without the terrible squeak it had been having for a few weeks. This, along with some other maintenance on the car, cost a bit over $ 700, which seems reasonable to me.
We hat to get the car towed to the shop, and we beat the tow truck there and arrived just as the mechanics were leaving. We explained that the tow truck was on its way, and they wound up staying almost an hour late to keep the gate open so we could park the van in a safe place, waiting for the tow truck. Such great service, they could have easily gone home for the night but chose to help us out instead.
I will definitely be back the next time my old car breaks down.

An honest mechanic, with fair prices. Seriously.
Don can be a little gruff, but he will tell you the truth. If there’s work that needs to be done that for some reason or another he is unable to do, he has always given me great recommendations for other companies.
For example, I needed a tailgate latch repaired. He recommended a body shop in Black Diamond that was awesome.
My only complaint is that you can only drop off & pick up cars when the shop is open, not after hours. A few times we’ve had to have a broken down car towed to our house, and then towed to the shop in the morning. Inconvenient, but doable.
Don & Co. have always completed repairs on time & within estimated prices. For the past several decades, he’s kept a few of our family’s vehicles running WAY past their expected lifespan.
If he retires or I move, I don’t know what I will do!

Road trip next week! Yikes! I need my car cleared to make the trip.
Don at Larimer’s Auto Service has been taking good care of my Subaru for years! I trust his opinion and the work he has done on my car.
Today’s visit included a few belts changed, transmission filter changed, oil changed, Don gave my car a thorough check up. Very fair pricing and he has a conserative approach to car care.
2.5 hrs later I was on the road with Don’s stamp of approval! I can enjoy the road trip without worrying about my Subaru! Thank you Don!!!
