Mariners Bay Apartments Fitness Center

I can’t give this tiny little gym 1-​star because I love the convenience of having the gym right downstairs. BUT man-​oh-​man, this gym at Mariners Bay can definitely afford a make-​over (like many of the other aspects of the apartment complex.)
It’s small, it’s out-​dated, you don’t get the feeling that the equipment is being maintained, and it’s lacking some basic equipment that I’d like to see.
BUT it’s never crowded, it’s super convenient, and it does the job.

You have to be a resident to access the fitness center, or have a resident give you access.
I’ve lived in this apartment complex for a little over a year now and the fitness center has improved significantly since I moved in. This just means that it used to be a piece of shit. You can tell it’s not as frequently fixed up and cleaned as it should be, but for someone like me who wants to squeeze a quick and basic workout in before work, it does the trick.
The center features four treadmills, two ellipticals, a fairly new free weights set and some older weight machines. There is also a fitness ball and some mats for ground exercising. I appreciate the accessible A/​C control and working TV that sits right in front of the treadmills. I never have any problems having to wait for a machine because no one really uses the fitness center except for me and some older folks that like to walk on the treadmill and watch CNN.
Additionally, there are locker rooms available. No one ever needs to use it, but it’s nice to know that they’re there in case you need a quick restroom break during your workout and you don’t want to run across the complex to your apartment. I also remember the property manager showing me a random mirrored room with bars and carpet when I toured the complex, for women who need to stretch. This room is accessible through the women’s locker room. There’s also a random sauna somewhere. If you prefer to swim, the heated pool is outside, right next to the fitness center.
