Extremely rude, no concept of customer service, receptionist hung up the phone during a call, morse of the boats on the website are not actually available. I won’t book with them.

Had an absolutely fabulous yachting excursion thanks to UpScale Charter!
Because the weather had been so nice, we decided to plan a spur of the moment boating trip for the weekend and were not disappointed. Regardless of the fact that it was Thanksgiving when we initially reached out, Ben was accessible and responsive in coordinating our plans. Having only booked a day before the trip itself, it was incredibly impressive how seamless and perfect our experience was. From the meetup, to coordinating what snacks and drinks we wanted, to the incredibly kind crew, everything was beyond perfect. We were even upgraded to a yacht after the boat we had wanted was booked by someone else. How cool is that?!!
The yacht was stunning and massive for a group of just 6. There was a table and seating area in the back set up with the biggest plate of cocktail shrimp you’ve ever seen, chips + guac, fruit, veggies, and drinks. There was even a TV that we were able to turn on to watch the USC football game out at sea! Oh and a very nice bedroom and bathroom below deck in case you for some reason wanted to take an indoors nap.
Once we had gotten far enough out, just in front of the Santa Monica Pier, we dropped anchor and all headed to the front of the yacht for champagne in the afternoon sun. The deck turned into one massive lounge chair from which we were able to enjoy the ocean breeze and setting sun. After about an hour of relaxing, we headed back to the stern and ventured towards the Palisades to get a closer look at the sunset before returning to Marina del Rey.
All in all, the trip was beyond wonderful and was a truly special way to spend the Saturday. The crew was awesome and hilarious, but definitely would not have intruded had we wanted a private experience.
I would definitely use UpScale Charter for any other spur of the minute (or more planned) boat trips in the LA area!

Ben and Monte did a really nice job. They helped me find a boat to take out and view a national kids regatta. There was nothing available in the regular charter fleet. But they improvised and someone willing to rent us a boat that is not normally for charter. Then they found a 47ft cruiser for us to stay on at the dock for 6 nights. It was in perfect condition and well stocked. Ben and Monte were helpful, flexible and reasonable in every way. The only snafu had to do with the credit card company and was not their fault. But they went out of their way to fix it. I would do it all again and would recommend them to anyone :-)

I was raised in a family that sailed competitively and for pleasure. I spent every Summer on my grandfather’s sailboat and love being on the water. He was strict about maintenance and a stickler for protocols and taught my brothers and I how to sail safely and correctly. I tell you this because I have pretty high standards and I was skeptical when I was invited to an engagement dinner and party on a charter.
The first thing I noticed when I stepped aboard Shogun was the cleanliness and the opulence. She was well maintained and beautifully appointed. I loved the Asian theme! Captain Mike was direct and professional and I am not ashamed to say that I observed (and eavesdropped) how he addressed his crew and I felt confident he could wrangle this group in an emergency. The crew were personable and professional and above all, discreet. Last but certainly not least was the food and drink. The catering was excellent! From the appetizers all the way through to dessert was one delectable course after another. The bartender was funny and friendly and taught me the joys of my new, favorite drink called a Red Lotus.
Overall, I was happy for my friends engagement and spent a wonderful evening on a beautiful yacht. I was very impressed.
