I have been going to Essence for years and they never disappoint. The Staff is amazing!!!
Over the years i have seen everyone there. My current visit I saw Diane Ismande. I receive a Hot stone massage. If you have never had one i strongly suggest you get one. She was awesome and it was one of the best things I did. Another time Diane gave me a deep tissue massage and she again did not disappoint. Is amazing.
Jan is awesome as well. I have been getting massages from her as well. She also does my lip, & brow wax. She did an amazing job tattooing my eye brows. They were so thin and she made them look amazing. :)
I’ve also gotten a lip wax from Luciana again it was a great experience.
The staff is wonderful!!! I will continue to recommend them to others and suggest you try their services you won’t be disappointed.

I was gifted a massage here for my birthday. It was supposed to be deep tissue, but as a massage therapist myself, that was Swedish. At least it was relaxing. I can’t remember the name of the woman who massaged me. She was nice, but 2 minutes after leaving me to get dressed after the massage, she came back into the room without knocking to get the room ready for the next person. She had forgotten I was in there, mostly naked, after just 2 minutes. Lol! Good times. Anyway, the massage wasn’t bad or anything, but it was not deep tissue.

I have had facials before but I always left feeling like I just wasted my hard earned money. Fast forward, some relatives came into town and they wanted to get some spa services done. They offered to pay for mine as well as a birthday gift. I was still debating it but had just gone through the worst year of my life and decided I could use a relaxing day. We both got a pkg deal but I opted out of the massage since I had work to do later that day and knew I would be useless after one. The facial was incredibly attentive and thorough, the lady so sweet and talkative, but not TOO talkative, if ykwim. I literally could not believe how much better my skin looked afterwards. As a test, I did not tell my husband and daughter where I had been that day and both of them remarked how great my skin looked. It truly was glowing. I would not hesitate to go back again in a heart beat, I wish I were a few thousand miles closer, nothing has compared since.

I have had nothing but amazing experiences at Essence Skin and Body Care. Luciana is amaaaaazing and I will never get a wax from anyone else! She is so incredibly welcoming and makes you feel comfortable. She is fast, efficient, and does incredible work. Even though waxing can be an unpleasant experience, I actually get excited when I come in to see Luciana. Not only does she give great waxes, she brightens my day and I leave in a better mood than when I came in. I would highly recommend Essence Skin and Body Care to anyone looking to be pampered!

Today was my first visit here for a facial and I loved it here. Luciana attended me. She took her time explained everuthing she was doing and also addressed my concern. Overall a very relaxing experience.

Don’t bother spending your money at some fancy day spa in Walnut Creek. Save your money and come here. This was my first visit and I was very impressed. The place is small and not as luxurious as places in WC; however staff was helpful and the salon is very clean.
I ordered a 60 minute stress relief massage and Diane delivered; plus she noticed I was tense in the upper back and neck area and gave me a deep tissue massage in those tender areas. So I got a therapeutic and relaxing massage. Loved it! Going back for a hot stone massage.

I can’t say enough about this wonderful little spa. Super professional staff, clean and relaxing. They always do a wonderful job, regardless of which specialist I am seeing. I recommend them to everyone.

I have been going here for about 2 years now, after finding it on a google search.
This is my go-​to place for massage, the rare facial, and the monthly wax.
I have had massages from both Jan and Tatiyana (I am so sorry, I probably do not spell your name correctly) and they were fantastic. I have no excuse for not getting them more often. I have had facials from Luciana, who also does my Brazilian waxing. She is personable and not shy about being a perfectionist.
Everyone on staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Prices are more than fair.
I highly recommend this place, especially for bikini waxing. If you are a first timer, this is where you need to go for a good experience.

My partner and I went for the spa for two package. 60 minute facials and 60 minute massages for each of us. Great services and we can not wait to schedule our next appointment. Thank you Jan and Brook!

I just came back from getting a Mlis Contour Body Wrap & the Facial #1 by Brooke — It was excellent to the T! She was so professional, nurturing & made me feel at ease which is something I have a hard time doing especially when im basically naked in a spa setting. The body wrap was awesome, I lost about 7 something inches, it felt great the whole time and the facial was exactly what I needed — and a bonus neck massage as well :)
The environment is calm, clutter free & relaxing. Everyone was so friendly!
I am definitely going back!

A few months ago I came in for just a facial and got TATIANA. I didn’t know what kind I wanted, so I left it up to her. I’m 62, so I probably needed them all, but she suggested the LED facial and a peel. I’m telling you, she was busy the entire time and she knows her stuff. Mixing serums, massaging them into your face, I’ve now had a series of the LED treatments and another peel, and I honestly look much younger. Truly. And she massages your arms and hands when you have masques on your face. I just don’t want to get her to be too busy to see me! ;-) –Valerie

I absolutely love this place!!! I have been a happy client since 2007 and will continue to come here. I have gotten treatments from everyone and enjoy their professionalism and friendliness. I have been working with Jan (owner) for a long time and I have to say my skin has come a long way and I am so happy with the results, and love how I don’t need to wear makeup. I even continued to see her through out my pregnancy and got prenatal massages she is great! The other girls are awesome as well and love the availability when booking an appt. The front office gals are friendly, knowledgable and always call as a reminder. This spa place is like no other they are unique and work together as a team to make your time more enjoyable. I always come out in a good mood and a smile on my face. I highly recommend essence and love their skin care products.

I have been going here for years! And love it! Its very quiet and calming. Everyone in the office is really nice and appointments are easy to make, they always do their best to get you in when you need.
Desiree and Brooke are both amazing! I have been waxed by both and they’re polite, careful and always checking in to make sure you are comfortable.
I go to Brooke for facials, she is great! She is good about telling you what shes doing so that you aren’t worried about whats being applied to your face. As a person with sensitive skin, I know how scary using new products can be. However, she is also more then happy to just go to work while you lay and relax in the quiet soothing room.

Sorry to say that I had a very bad experience. I scheduled a pregnancy massage, when I arrived the therapist told me lay on my belly… really? Im 7 months pregnant! Once I explained to her that I couldn’t lay on my belly, she told me to lay on my side, she didn’t know how to set the pillows, didn’t offer me a pillow for my head and didn’t dim the room when the massage started. Also, she didn’t start at 10:30 but the massage sure ended at 11:30.
I have had many massages in my life and this was the worst ever, it just felt like she was rubbing lotion on me, not like a massage. After I asked her a couple of times to please apply more pressure, she seemed to get irritated and said she’s doing the best she could because I was on my side. What?
Don’t waist your money or don’t get Tatiana to do your massage. Guess I will need to travel to get my massages but at least it will be worth it.
P. S. I gave them a try even after reading Shelly’s bad review… sorry to say I have to agree with Shelly, they don’t know what they are doing.

Save your time go somewhere else nice people but they don’t know what they’re doing there! I’ve been for a massage and a wax and both done by the same person and both were half ass. I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve had better experiences for better prices elsewhere! Good luck!

I am very surprised to hear about the «bad experience» a customer had at the end of September.
I find this spa extremely professional, caring, responsible, willing to listen, etc.
I have seen several estheticians and massage therapists here and find they are all willing too listen to any concerns, etc.
I have had Brazillian waxes here for well over 3 years now and rarely get irritated skin, hardly any ingrown hairs, it is practically painless, and all-​together an easy experience.
As a person who is also in the service industry and deals with customers, readers need to beware of others who join Unilocal only to complain about 1 company. Not a good source or judge of the establishment they are reviewing.

I absolutely love Essence. I have been a client there for about 7 years and won’t even consider going anywhere else for massages, waxings, facials, makeup, etc. I use to jump from place to place finding someone that I like with good prices and I not longer have that problem. Jan and her staff are all wonderful to work with and the prices are very reasonable. Also, everyone there is at the same level of service so no matter who you see it will be great!
I was very excited that they sell make-​up and provide assistance with it. Brooke did an amazing job doing my make-​up for my wedding. I never wear make-​up so I don’t feel comfortable with caked on make-​up ever. She made me feel comfortable by listening to my concerns and made me look perfect!!!
Everything they do is great! Try them, you won’t regret it!

I went to Essence a couple of months ago for a facial. They had a deal going for the crème de la crème facials so I went for it. The deluxe facial came with a foot message which was really nice :)
They did the usual; examined your skin, steamed, c\leansed, removed black heads and put on a mask. I fell asleep for a little bit because I was so relaxed and comfortable. I had Desiree who was excellent and had some recommendations for my daily cleansing/​exfoliating. I’m definitely going back for another facial and am interested in their pedicures/​manicures and massages.

What a little gem this place is. I have had a range of services here-​from a facial, many many waxing experiences and a great massage once. They are reasonable, convenient and surprising for our sleepy little town. They are also one fo the few places anywhere that sells the GloMinerals line of cosmetics. One of my fave places in ‘tinez.
Definately try it!
