I found out Life In Contrast through an Amazon Local deal. My daughter and I had our portraits taken by Nate last April. I am happy with the end results, but I feel that the pictures would have turned out better had we established more rapport.
There just was no sort of camaraderie, and I know that that is essential if you are trying to get pictures that don’t make you look stiff. I would simply recommend that he spend a few more minutes with his clients to establish some kind of connection, which I find always make for better, more natural-​seeming pictures.
But regardless of that, he was still able to take some decent pictures that made us happy. He was also very helpful when the DVD of our files got lost in the mail. I can see myself going back to Nate next time I want professional pictures.

Nate is awesome! This is our second time working with him, and he is as good as we remember. He was able to corral our 2.5 year old and keep our baby entertained. The photo shoot was utterly painless and we love our pictures. He understands how to handle toddlers.
We also loved the location and props he used. He picked a nearby park, which was perfect for the 2.5 year old to run around in, while also being a beautiful backdrop for our family photos.
Would definitely trust him with our photos again!

Nate is great! We hired him twice — first when my daughter was 4 months old, we had him do some family portraits at Lake Merritt in Oakland. He arrived right on time, was super friendly and easy to talk to, and brought some cool props with him. The pictures came out beautifully and we used them for our Christmas cards that year. He knows what times of day are best to get the type of pictures you’re after, and is a whiz with his camera. He has a lot of good ideas for posing people and always pays attention to details. We hired him again when our son was born to do a newborn photo shoot. Oh, I just LOVE the pictures and I’m so glad we hired him to capture those few precious newborn days. We used those pictures in our birth announcements and everyone commented how beautiful the pictures were.

Nate took our engagement pictures, and I was thrilled with the results he produced. He had very creative ideas for poses and the use of props. He made us feel very comfortable throughout the photo shoot. It was a great experience and we would definitely do business with him again. He’s very professional, has a great eye for capturing an artistic photo and provides quality products efficiently. Highly recommend for all your photo shoot needs!

Nate did a photo shoot for our infant recently, and the experience has been beyond our expectations.
The shoot itself was a breeze. He made us feel comfortable, and knew how to handle the baby. A lot of he shots involved sitting the baby on various props, and he let us know that we should step in at any time if it looks like she was gonna fall, don’t worry about ruining the shot.
We loved how the photos turned out. Nate will definitely be our go-​to photographer for future baby photos!

We recently worked with Nate to get our family pictures taken and had a great experience. Our pictures came out really well. Our 2 year old son is not very cooperative when it comes to taking pictures but Nate was extremely patient and figured out ways to get some really nice pictures. He made all of us look like movie stars :). He is very professional and comfortable to work with. We will be without doubt going to Nate for any future photoshoots. I’ve worked with Life in Contrast more than a few times and have never been anything less than thrilled.
Nate is prompt, professional, fun and creative. I’ve used him for both personal, and business reasons and have been amazed with how he’s able to capture just the right images everytime.
Our resent family session with him was anything but smooth. My 4 year old did not want to have her picture taken and was being awful the whole time. She wanted to talk to Nate not have her picture taken. When he sent me the link to our pictures I was amazed at how many great pictures of her he was able to get. I was sure she would be making faces in all of them.
He always has our web link to us within 48 hours or less and the ordering process is simple and easy.
I wouldn’t trust my family pictures to anyone else!!!

I am lucky enough to be quite close to the artist, Nate, and have the pleasure of his talented eye capturing my little one as he grows. Our babies grow so fast and it is priceless having these moments captured in beautiful photographs that we’ll cherish forever.
