Highly recommend this place! My bf took his 97′ honda civic in… it was a mess, everything was falling apart, leaking here and there, no clutch, brakes, etc! After the job was done, his car runs like a brand new car! Thanks to Alex Calagawan! I’ll definitely take my car there next time when it needs work!

I have taken all my cars to this shop for years for good reasons.
1– Customer service is professional, honest and real.
2– Workers. Family owned business since day one. They are always the best places to go to for obvious reasons. They take it to heart if they fail a business transaction. An hourly employee won’t care but a father and son business do.
3– Down to earth owners. Alex is a pro, willing to check your car even at walk ins. Gives you a quick assessment and a realistic time when a repair should be done.
4– Prices– Competitive prices depending on need of car repairs. No run arounds or BS things that a typical lowlife mechanic gives an auto illeterate gets. This is the work, these is the price, this is how long it takes. Period.
I presently own 4 cars at this time. All of them are seen and cared for by Performance Autoworks. In my lifetime I have owned at least 10+ cars and all of them has been serviced or repaired by this shop.
If you want peace of mine and a place to give your car the treatment it needs Alex and the boys in Performance Autoworks is the place to go.

I brought my Civic here because this shop recommended by a tow truck driver. I am very thankful that Alex and Bobby were able to help me fix my car. It was expensive, but 500 less than what another mechanic quoted me and it was an expensive job anyways. Alex was able to completely fix the issue WITHIN A WEEK! ARE YOU SERIOUS? I took it to two other mechanics before this and I cant believe I wasted my money (and time) going else where. Not only were they fast and proficient, but they went way out of their way when they asked if I wanted to pick my car up on Easter, and clearly explained what was going on with the car. I seriously appreciate what they did and I will definitely recommend them to all my friends.

Took my 2012 wrx here due to it making a funny sound when it was revved, the head mechanic diagnosed the problem in just a few minutes. Thankfully it was just loose heatshielding, but I would definitely trust Alex and his crew to work on my car in the future. Very professional and knowledgeable group of guys.

My uncle referred me to Mr. Bobby and Alex. They took good care of my vehicle, as it needed some work. They were very professional, great costumer service, honest, and very helpful, as they explained in detail what was being done and why. I’m very happy with their work. Our cars just found a new mechanic. :)

I knew I was having a bit of over heating issues but previous mechanics could not find the problem. Then one day driving home my car died and it started to steam from the engine. My dad knew Bobby and recommended his shop. Bobby said it was a blown head gasket. He told me they could open the engine up, take a look around, and repair everything but suggested a faster and better solution, probably cheaper too, which was to replace the engine with a used one from a engine store in Emeryville. The engines there come from Japan with no more than 55K miles. I got my car back 2 weeks after bringing it in. They used the oil I prefer, Royal Purple, they also replaced the spark plugs, engine mount and cleaned up the engine area. The clean up was awesome. My car ran smoothly.
I would definitely recommend these guys!

I take my cars to Alex and Bobby because they are professionals. I own a VW Passat, Audi S6 Avant, Xterra, and Sienna. I heard about this shop via word of mouth and these guys have become my go to mechanics. I couldn’t list all the work they have done to my cars and all the advice they have given me on things that may need to be addressed in the future.
I am no car expert but I am glad that these guys are willing to take the time to walk me through why something has to be fixed.

Alex is the man! And this shop is top quality. No B.S., no cutting corners, and a straight shooter. I have had Alex and his crew work on my VW and my Toyota and I always have had a great experience. They always have taken good care of me and they stand by their work. He is as dedicated to his craft as they come. Just look at the awards on the wall and that says it all. I have not found a better shop in all the bay from SF, to SJ, to RWC, to Fremont, to the creek. Solid, solid, solid!

Wow what a friendly professional place. I am so happy they are so close to my cars!
Can’t say I am looking forward to my next visit, but as car repair shops, they are as good as it gets.

Alex is awesome he takes time to explain the issue with my honda that the dealership couldn’t figure out and Bobby is so accommodating. I needed my car to get done and he stayed late and called me once the car was done. The most important thing is I trust this guys and that goes along way in this business. They certainly have a customer for life in me.

If you’re looking for exceptional and reliable service, Performance Autoworks is the safest bet. I’ve been going to this shop for many years now and the service here has never failed me. As a female w/​little knowledge on car repairs and maintenance, I can’t help but to worry about being taken advantage of but that’s not the case here. They are straight up honest with their prices and don’t try to overcharge you for some other services unless absolutely necessary.
What I love most about this place is that it is family owned and operated. They genuinely care for their customers and treat them well. They stand behind their work 100% and that is why I continue to come back! Keep up the good work!

This is the best mechanic shop. I moved here from out of town and I was recommended this shop from a gentlemen at Les Schwab. I’m so thankful they recommended such a honest car shop to work with. On top of it they are very nice, very reasonable, trusting and great mechanics!

Yes. This place is where it’s at. I was visiting family in the area and my battery and brake light went on. I was referred to this place by Avery at Oil Change Express also in Martinez. When I showed up with my grandma in the car I was treated extremely professionally. Come to find out it’s a family owned business, which says a lot to me. I was a little weary because I usually get my precious car worked on in Hayward at Hart’s Auto, where I’ve been going for years. I decided to trust and let them work on my car. Alex is the guy who took care of me and my car. Nothing but positive vibes and goodness. My car was done quickly and thoroughly. I am SO grateful.

I had a problem with my Honda and the dealer wanted to book me out 2 weeks. No thanks!
I found Performance Autoworks on Unilocal and gave them a call. I was able to get an estimate on the phone and an appt. a few days later for a fraction of the price the dealer was going to charge. BONUS — I never felt swindled or taken advantage of! I plan to return here for ALL my maintenance and car issues now.

I first heard of performance autoworks because it is the shop that works on my mom and younger brother’s cars. Recently my work van broke down on the Benicia Bridge and I had it towed to their shop.
They did a great job with their assessment and estimate of the repair time (2 days) and priced it very competitively. The local dealership said it would take about a week and cost alot more!
I like their honesty and the fact that they take the time to explain every aspect of the repair to me and not act like i’m wasting their time!
HIghly recommended and I am joining my family as a loyal customer!

I was sent to this place by a smog shop to reset my codes due to a check engine light coming on. The two men working there literally dropped what they were doing when i came in without an appointment, got my codes reset in a matter of 5 minutes or less.
They told me what was wrong and that it did not really need any repairs. They even showed me the diagnostic screen pointing out what was wrong. Gave me free advice on what i had to do prior to getting my smog check.
Here is the best part, they did not charge me for what they did. I was so impressed and delighted by their superb customer service and not even charging me a cent. When my service is due on my two vehicles, i will definitely come back to this place. A car shop with integrity and honesty is hard to find, this place is one of them.

Brought our second car, a Honda Fit, over for another maintenance service a couple months ago. I thought I gave it time before writing the follow-​up, just in case something happened. It’s confirmed, they’re that good. The car feels better coming out of the shop.
And for car service, that’s pretty much it. Knowing that you don’t have to worry about anything going wrong. I almost wish there was, so I could see how good they are at doing the warranty work.

Really can’t say enough good things about this place. I should have written a review the first time I took my Mercedes in but honestly got lazy. Well the second time my car decides to break down I knew exactly where to take it without hesitation!
From their friendly smiles to their tireless troubleshooting, they’re quick to determine what the problem is and repair it so you can get on your merry way. I’ve used a lot of car service folks with multiple vehicles in the past, some reputable and some that always made me think that they weren’t so honest — this place gives you the best value for my money with «peace of mind» — something you just can’t put a $$$ amount on.
I will continue to use this place with whatever vehicle I own in the future and definitely recommend anyone who needs service work on their car to be done to have Performance Autoworks repair it for you, you won’t be disappointed!
