I don’t know about you, but one of two things naturally happens when I walk into a DMV…1) I get my quills up and am ready for a good verbal argument, or 2) Despite having called ahead of time to find out what documents I need, I find out I don’t have the correct documents. Well, lucky me, both happened on this trip. I went in to get a few handicapped parking stickers for my Dad. I gave her the doctor’s order and she said, «Well, it doesn’t specify on the order how long he needs the sticker.» And then she said, «Do you have a cell phone? Can you call the doctor? We don’t have long distance here.» I said, «What? You don’t have long distance? What if you need to call another state’s DMV – what do you do?» She gives me a blank look and says, «Well, we never do that.» I said, «Look, I’m not coming back so please find someone who can place the call to the doctor.» With that, she walked away and returned a few minutes later, having spoken to my Dad’s doctor. Now see, was that so difficult? And I guess the DMVDOES have long distance. With that, I headed for the door and I felt my quills come down!
