I tried this restaurant on a special and I wasnt expecting much and I was blown away. This was the best mexican food I’ve had in my 24 yrs in Dallas! Everything is fresh and hand-made with a focus on flavor. This is NOT the standard premade and microwaved food like most tex-mex, though many like that elfenix type of food, Im not a fan of it… yes I just bashed Dallas’ Elfenix! I dont like microwaved food:(The flavor here was amazing! I had the chicken sour cream enchiladas and the chicken is mixed with cheese and the flavor just bursts in your mouth. My friend had the brisket fahitas and they were out of this world also, tender, tons of flavor. Even the guacamoli was hand mashed! Its in a small store front but dont let that fool you the food rivals the best in Dallas… and the prices are very affordable and a great deal considering the food quality. They have half price fahitas on Mondays and a kids eat free night though i forget which day it is. Great and my new favorite! I would definately recommend it!

I went tonight to this restaurant. A friend recommended it to me. I really loved it. The service & food was excellent. I am visiting from California. I know good Mexican food and this ranks right up with California/Mexican delicacies.

half price fajitas on Monday are really good! The service is always good too. It’s not the best Mexican food in the world but it’s good & very affordable.

From the opening of this place we dined in at least once a week. The food was never excellent but it was a good atmosphere for the family. As time went by the food got worse and the owner hardly showed up to tend to the place. We could tell turn over was quite frequent in the kitchen and with the wait staff. The final blow was hearing the wait staff complain non stop about the owner and the work environment. This is complete unprofessional and put a bad taste in my mouth. I could care less if we ever step foot in there again!

I called in a to-go order at 8pm on a Wednesday evening. The friendly voice told me they had run out of rice but more should be ready in 20 – 25 minutes. I placed my order anyway and waited around the house extra time so they could have the order prepared. When I arrived, the guy behind the bar, who I later found out is the owner as well as the one who took my order, apologized again for the delay and said he would add anything else to my bag. I felt bad asking for anything big since I was getting the rice so I asked for so I just asked for some sour cream and pico de gallo. He brought out the food and said he added extra salsa and chips too. I tipped well and left. When I got home the order was wrong and there was no rice! When I called to inquire another employee said they never started more rice! So basically the owner lied to me so I would place my order. We will never go back.

I went with my wife for lunch here, because we had a Restaurant coupon. We went with some trepidation, because of the previous reviews, but I have to say our experience was completely different. Our server, Nicole, was excellent. She was very attentive without hovering. All orders came out correctly and we had enough time to finish our appetizers before the entrée came(one of my pet peeves). As for the food, the chips and salsa were very good. I especially enjoyed the salsa verde. The tortilla soup(here called sopa Azteca), one of my measuring sticks for Tex-Mex places, was definitely above average. It was tomato-based(as opposed to broth-based) and had just the right amount of chicken and veggies. It was not spicy, however. The fajita nachos were average, nicely topped, but for me they didn’t have enough taste/spicyness. The Chimichanga I had was good, the queso sauce nice and cheesy, it was richly filed and the whole thing was not too doughy or overly crisp. Just right for my taste. Overall, if it wasn’t so far away from where we live, I would definitely return. Even this way I might for the soup. They might not take your breath away, but they are definitely worth a try when you’re in the area and are looking for a decent meal.

Its only been around a short while and they have experienced some growing pains with some trial and error. Elton has turned the place into a good tex-mex place. The food is above average and the drinks are way above average. Its also a good place to watch a game at the bar. Come early as locals will fill the bar area quickly. Update: Alas Con Queso has bit the dust and is no more. Kinda of a shame but saw it coming. Hope Elton comes up with something new… and successful.

We eat here a lot and really enjoy it. I think the reviews here are really harsh… the water tastes funny… REALLY? Their fish tacos are so good… the tilapia is grilled with a cabbage slaw and your choice of dressing. The chimichangas are chock full of peppers and onions along with your choice of either ground beef or steak. You can choose queso or chili as a topping. I often get the chili relleno topped with queso… yummo. My son loves the brisket tacos. My daughter goes for the chicken enchiladas with the tomatillo topping. Their chips are always hot and fresh with 3 kinds of salsa. And their margaritas are strong. They have a daily lunch special for $ 4.99. And usually they have a Groupon as well. If you like Mexican food that looks like a giant hot brown melted mess on your plate, then don’t come here! The food is fresh and appealing!

We love this place! My husband loves the chimichangas… fried tortilla filled with your choice of meat(brisket, ground beef, chicken) and topped with chili or queso. Their fish tacos are fabulous. My son loves the brisket tacos. Their chips are fresh and hot out of the fryer. They serve the chips with three kinds of salsa… we love their tomatillo salsa… and their queso is yummy. Give a frozen margarita a try… they are strong! The food here is fresh and colorful… not your typical plate of brown«stuff» at other Mexican restaurants.

I was a little surprised by the 1 star reviews, this place isn’t phenomenal but it’s definitely pretty good for strip mall mexican food. We swung by and picked up some quesadillas, chips and queso. We upgraded to have the fajita chicken and fajita steak in the quesadillas and they were phenomenal. I was really impressed with the flavor, but still surprised by the cost of the food! The queso was also pretty good, thick and creamy. I liked their chips, but they give you so many that half the bag ended up going to waste. I’m tempted to go back and actually sit down because hubby said their margaritas are really good, that might bump them up a star as long as their prices don’t go up.

Save your time and money folks. I had brisket taco’s which tasted as if the brisket were made days in advance. It was dry and bland. The rice, dry and hard, the refried beans tasted like they just opened a can. I went with a friend who had beef taco’s which were equally bad. 2 meals, 1 beer and a glass of water was $ 35 plus with tip. We wanted this place to be good so bad! Even the water was gross. When I mentioned this to the waitress her reply was she wouldn’t know because she just started working there. Maybe we just went on a bad night since there are other good reviews on here but I won’t be going back to find out.

We went on a Sunday and the food, once it came out right, was really good. The service was ick. The owner was so nice, but they definitely need more qualified servers. The salsa was good. I hope it’s just that it’s new and they are still working out the kinks!
