Staybridge Suites

I am kind of torn on this rating because it comes out in my mind to be about 3.5 but I’m going with 3 because of two things: (1) the massive variations of quality of service at the front desk — from super efficient to helpful and friendly, to argumentative, to incompetent; and (2) having two someones at the front desk tell me that they will not and can not honor the Unilocal Check-​in reward of Points for my IHG Rewards Club. And to then for them to become kind of rude as I tried to explain what it was… well that really rubbed me the wrong way as a Unilocaler, and as a IHG Platinum Rewards club member, and as a guest generally. So definitely a mixed bag of what to of service you’ll receive depending on who is working and what you ask them.
As we stayed multiple nights spread over two consecutive weekends I saw the same folks at different times, and it was clear that those folks who were competent or friendly were that way each time, and those who needed more training or supervision or different careers were consistent too.
Like every Staybridge I have stayed at, this location is well maintained, clean, and has all of the amenities I have come to know and expect from this brand. The rooms (like I said, we stayed multiple nights split and spread over two consecutive weekends) were clean and well maintained were stocked with the expected kitchen and bath soaps/​snack/​coffees/​etc. The breakfasts were consistently reliable in both the quality and variety of offerings. If anything the coffee needed to be refilled more quickly.
This location can be quite useful as it less than 30 minutes (typically, if you know how to drive and where you are going) to many of the greater D.C./VA businesses, tourist spots, and government offices, as well as being near some pretty decent shopping and dining options.

I don’t even know where to start! When I checked in the staff was courteous and quick. When I got to my room it was a dream. One of the largest suites I have ever stayed in. Great view, comfortable beds, spacious living room, full kitchen, just perfect! Then we got to have complimentary beer, wine, and tacos the first night. The next night it was the same but pizza and chef salad. I checked the calendar and apparently this is a weekly thing. They have dinner and drinks for their guests in the middle of the week all included! The dining area downstairs also has juice, soft drinks, and coffee 247. If that isn’t enough they have a pretty extensive pantry, only missing alcohol but there is a supermarket within a 5 min walk as well as many bars, restaurants, and shops. It was literally 7 miles from DC which was very convenient. Breakfast was amazing each morning as well. Well stocked with lots of variety and a real homemade feel. Bacon, sausage, cornbeef hash, waffles, omelets, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, yogurts and pastries, and even garnishes for the eggs like cheese, salsa, and veggies. The business center has all new Macs plus a printer copier. There is a pool and even though it was too cold to use the area looked well kept and luxurious. I had an amazing stay. You can tell all the recent renovations paid off! I highly recommend this hotel.

What an amazing room for a totally reasonable price! Spacious and everything looks brand new. Several good restaurants and coffee shops within very easy walking distance. Plus quite close to a metro stop. Makes me wish I could stay longer!

I stayed at this property for two nights and had a terrific experience. Friendly staff, spacious room with a full kitchen and comfortable bed, free breakfast in the morning and appetizers/​drinks during the week. The gym leaves a little to be desired, but that’s the only thing I can even think of that would need any improvement. The staff was also very accommodating about giving me a late checkout. Highly recommend this place!

Wow. Wow. Wow. Yeah, that’s a pretty strong opening statement, but it is absolutely well deserved. My family of 5 took a vacation to Washington DC for a week at the beginning of May and we stayed at the Staybridge Suites for 2 days of our 8 day stay (we rented a house for 4 days and stayed with family we were visiting for 2 days). I wish I could have gone back in time and chosen to stay at the Staybridge for the full time (minus the time with family) because it was an absolutely amazing experience. My ONE tiny blip is that I wished the pool had been open because my son was really looking forward to it, but they don’t open the pool til Memorial Day weekend I believe which is really common to many facilities anyway so it was in no way a deal breaker, just, as I said, a blip.
The front desk staff was incredibly welcoming, I should mention this was our first time at a Staybridge Suites in any city and yet it felt like coming home and getting into my favorite jammies and letting the weight of the world drop to the floor.
We couldn’t have asked for better amenities, from the complimentary computers and printers in the lobby (thank goodness for those, we needed to print our tickets for some tours we had purchased online) to the adorable and well-​stocked and well-​organized kitchen and yes even to the hair dryer in its own little bag that was embroidered with the word «hairdryer»; it all felt so magical and so welcomed after the place we stayed at for those first 4 days (really not good).
The continental breakfast was a pleasant extra that we hadn’t been expecting and filled our tummies and gave us energy for our excursions — there was something for everyone, what a spread: cereal, bagels, waffles, eggs, bacon/​sausage, juices, oatmeal, 5 picky people here equated to 5 happy people.
The thing that took this from a 4.5 star to a 5 star rating came in the form of a 9 p.m. shuttle rescue that second night. They have a complimentary shuttle to and from the McLean metro station, this is in itself a wonderful thing since we were used to walking to the metro and our feet were happy to hear the words «complimentary shuttle.» We diligently made our plans and looked forward to our pick up at McLean metro, but that day, getting to that metro stop was not in the cards for us as there was «police activity» at that particular station and the metro simply was unable to get us there, taking us back and forth between East and West Falls Church stops. They finally took us back to West Falls Church and we were told that buses would take us to any metro station on the silver line but not McLean. I think my mom might have been ready to cry at this point, my kids were cold and confused, we had really no idea where we were except in relation to that McLean metro station. So I finally called Staybridge and got a very kind person whose voice and reassurance instantly calmed the situation in my mind (when in reality there were some very irate people we were standing with at the West Falls station). I asked if there was any way they could come retrieve us at the West Falls Station and they said absolutely. We were saved! I can’t even tell you what a relief it was to have someone to come and collect us when we were unable to get to the station where they normally pick up. It may have only been a few miles difference, but it made about a world of difference to us.
You would think that would be the end of the praises, but I saved this and came back to it because I remembered something else — there is nothing like doing laundry on vacation, for me it makes me feel so happy to pack clean clothes vs dirty ones. They have free laundry machines here, you just have to provide the soap, softener, and dryer sheets (which they sell there, but if you know about it ahead of time you can bring your own)

Solid 4 star experience despite a few speedbumps. I stayed all the way out here to get away from the city (16mi. away from DC), and the hotel is in a safe, quiet neighborhood. They were undergoing construction (which was loud) throughout the entire weekend and it set off the fire alarm, and the cleaning crew failed to clean my room/​left kitchen trash in it before I checked in. However, the customer service did what it could to fix it (ie. giving me a new room). Overall, the pros (free gym, free guest laundry, free wifi, a kitchen in the rooms, PET FRIENDLY, and free breakfast) overweighed the cons.
P. S. If you’re trying to avoid DC traffic on weekdays, it is best to wait until about 9:30am to start traveling.

I had a pleasant experience here. It’s located just a few minutes from the new McLean metro station. Stayed 4 nights. Check-​in and check-​out were relatively seamless. A pretty comprehensive breakfast was provided, as well as free dinner (with alcohol!) at night. The dinners weren’t really my style, so I never tried any of the food, but I did enjoy the complimentary wine.
My room was clean and comfortable. Paper was delivered every morning and staff was friendly and happy to offer food vouchers for a nearby restaurant and transportation advice. I made use of the free shuttle on a daily basis and with the exception of one slight miscommunication, it worked out perfectly. The front desk even arranged a taxi for me upon my departure.
It’s not the Four Seasons, but I’d recommend this hotel.

We set up a room block for wedding guests at the Staybridge Suites. Our friends and family were impressed by the accommodations and by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Indeed, the Staybridge is a lovely place with lovely people, and we are thankful to them for making our wedding guests comfortable during their stay in Virginia! I definitely recommend this hotel.

We have stayed at the Staybridge, McLean several times over the past few years. We stay about two weeks at a time and this hotel is perfect for us.
The staff is friendly and accommodating. They have a hot breakfast with omelette bar on the weekends. Tue-​Thu they also have a happy hour with food and beer/​wine. The hotel is located in a good location with lots of cuisine choices, and I mean lots. There is also a grocery store and pharmacy on the next block. They have a small exercise room and for the people who want more there is a gym within walking distance that is available for the guests. They also have free washer/​dryer which I make use of everytime we stay.
The only downside of this place is that they do not have an indoor pool. For people in wheelchairs who are staying for extended periods of time this might be a bummer because you do not get to use the pool unless you are staying in the months of Jun-​Aug. For others the gym that I mentioned does have indoor pool and sauna but that gym is not accessible.
One another small gripe with our last stay here in Sep-​Oct was that the breakfast selection was less that our previous stays especially since we were staying for two weeks. Hopefully that will change.
But all in all we are happy to call this hotel our home away from home. We will be back there again.

Washington, DC has a plethora of lodging options to pick from, and most Suites often are located out in suburban, car-​only settings. This Staybridge Suites is the exception, since it is located in the heart of downtown McLean. For travelers who want to rely on public transportation, that is totally possible since the hotel has a shuttle to take you to West Falls Church metro and Tysons Corner Shopping Center. Since it is downtown, you can easily walk to a variety of restaurants, including Turkish, Greek, Chinese, Thai, etc. There is a Giant supermarket and CVS drugstore in the mall across the street. Of course, since this Suites offers a breakfast bar and a substantive Happy Hour snack (salad and some kind of entre + drinks) on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, you may not eat out or cook as much as you think. The rooms have free Wi-​Fi and are generously sized– my king bed was great and I had room to spread out and sort through my stuff prior to travel. Bottom-​line: this is the best place I’ve stayed in the DC area. The friendly staff and food offerings more than make up for any slight wait for the shuttle. I’ll be coming back every time I pass through DC.

I have stayed here a couple times when I have been in the area for business and absolutely love it. Having a real kitchen in the rooms is great and the separated bedroom and living rooms in the room make it a nice home away from home.
The do a happy hour thing daily with free hood and what not which is nice to come back to at the end of the day. Kinda a nice chance to meet some new people who are also in the area for work and such.
The breakfast’s on the weekends with prepared eggs how ever you want it is great.
I like that they provide the little mini-​store in the lobby for all the little extra things you made need and perhaps forgot to bring with you. If you are flying into town its perfect cause it allows you to leave all the things the TSA won’t let you bring in your carry on bags. This is huge for me because I hate checking bags when I am just doing a quick trip in for a couple days.

The complimentary lobby coffee was hot and fresh 24hrs a day, we stayed 3 nights and it was the perfect homebase for my band. The happy hour with free food, beer and wine was super impressive with a full salad bar and a different hot entrée every day. Made use of the huge computer room with 6 computers and 3 laser jet printers. Staff was very accommodating and even provided me with a tabletop paper cutter for one of my pre-​show projects.
Very convenient (walking distance) to shopping, grocery, many different ethnic restaurants and a great independent café across the street. Rooms have full kitchens and some suites are true 1-​bedroom suites.
Hot lobby coffee will keep customers coming back. It is obvious that this hotel is well-​managed. The hotel also has a conference room which was perfect for a quick meeting I needed to knock out while I was in town. Again, the staff made it happen. Nice work, Staybridge! We can’t wait to stay here again when we are in the area.

I call Staybridge Suites in McLean home more than once for extended periods of time. I’ve stayed here for both business and pleasure.
Staybridge offered a warm environment that even my kids enjoyed their month-​long stays on two separate occasions (and walked to a nearby elementary public school «Franklin Sherman.») Healthy breakfast was prepared daily. Every weekend a cook would make yummy eggs any styles you ordered, with mushroom, bacon pieces, grated cheese, chopped veggies, etc. Happy hour was twice a week with real food catered from a local restaurant.
A workout room was a OK with old equipment. But you can ask the front desk for a pass to use «McLean Swim and Tennis Club» about a 5-​minute walk away. So bring along your swimming, tennis or workout gear.
It’s convenient to everything. You can walk to banks, grocery stores, restaurants (Turkish, Chinese, Persian, Italian, Japanese, American, and many more), drug stores, doctor’s offices (plastic surgery, primary care physicians, etc.), community centers, a local public library, and almost everything you can imagine. Expect to run into some well-​known people in politics and U.S. government. McLean is a town where the rich and famous live. After all, it’s located in the middle of Fairfax county, one of the most affluent U.S. counties.
I used the hotel shuttle to go to the West Falls Church Metro to get to work in downtown D.C., or to go shopping at Tysons Corner.
The staff performed well. You will remember them.

this place is amazing! we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite which is super comfy with 2 bedrooms /​2 baths. 1 room w’a king size bed the other with a queen size bed. it is equipped with a fully kitchen and living room area! this is big enough to sleep several people (enough room in master bedroom for up to 3 air matress beds! — not that we have ever done that before!) and how can i forget — the free FOOD! there is actually the free breakfast buffet we are a custom to when visiting this type of hotel but to our surprise, this particular location offers FREE DINNER on 3 nites of the week (5:30pm –7:30pm) don’t expect a steak dinner but you sure can enjoy a delicious meatball sub!, salad, cookies and are you ready… FREE BEER & WINE! good stuff too! they also offer a free shuttle service which will take you anywhere within a 5 mile area from hotel. driver Muhamand is super funny! this is our first time out to DC but i believe that upon our next trip, we will look forward to staying once again at this site. it is amazing!!!
(p.s. only little issue — Internet was a little slow at times but not bad– AND upon request we immediately had it reset & a tech came to our room to check if everything was ok)

I had to be in McLean during a snowstorm. A snowstorm. In Virginia. And I had to get around. And I don’t drive in snow. So I stayed at the Staybridge and their wonderful driver Mohamed took me anywhere I wanted to go within five miles. What a deal. The breakfasts were fabulous and three nights a week there is happy hour with food enough to call supper and free, yes free, wine and beer. With a market and drugstore a parking lot away, this is a perfect short/​long stay option. I would go back just for the waffles. The free make your own waffles. The kind that start out with batter and a waffle iron.

Staybridge Suites is in a great location, steps from plenty of restaurants, retail and service establishments (Plus it’s inside the beltway). I think the place easily beats Residence Inn for décor, service and amenities.
Negatives includes a slow WIFI service, less than response mechanical staff and a small kitchen.
Would definately stay here again.

Since our house is currently a construction zone, we were given a gift certificate from family members so we could spend a weekend away from the plastic sheeting, power tools, and gaping walls we call home. while it’s your average long stay hotel, the service was nice, facilities clean, but their best feature is the location.
our one bed suite was roomy, had two super flat screen TVs, living room area, and an outdated mini-​kitchen. the kitchen had dark 80’s style cabinets and appliances which is odd, since the hotel was built like last year. anyways, it had plenty amenities inc. a laundry room, and a nice outdoor courtyard with sweet BBQ grills and a pool. also free breakfast with a make-​your-​own waffle station. love those waffles! they even have an omelet chef on weekends.
the problem with hotels in major business districts is that there’s never a grocery store nearby when you need it. grrrrrr! best part of this place is it’s walking distance to restaurants and esp. a grocery store just one block away. so it won’t take you hours to schlep food back to your room, and more bonus points to Staybridge for having my favorite sushi place, Ichiban, just across the street. not much nightlife — it’s the burbs, but a couple of bars and a liquor store nearby if you need something to take the edge off. only a few miles from the main Tysons area, they also have a shuttle to the metro, etc… to get you downtown or where ever you need to go.
nice for families too, not just for business folks. just make sure your kids don’t eat all the waffles. i was ready to have a smackdown with a 12 year old till the hotel staff intervened. i could’ve taken him…
