The Ascent at Spring Hill Station Luxury Apartments

Things have not changed went from bad to worst. A hang-​out worth for rich kids and their paid guests. Stay away if you have young kids. Elevators and parking space are always a mess and unavailable for paid people unless you pay extra for a reserved spot. Manager and the front office staff are courteous but clueless with minimal to no property management experience. Exorbitant rent doesn’t match the amenities other than its close to a metro, Starbucks and McDonalds.

I am so glad I decided to move here. I have been on the lease for only a couple of days but I can tell already it has been a good decision! Eleni was so helpful in getting me into a studio. There is nothing high-​pressure about the leasing here, but they do want you to understand that units get leased up quickly. I did not really get that at first, and in fact I had to wait a while till another studio opened up because the one I was looking at got rented. Fortunately it all worked out and I got in. Eleni could not be here for the move in date, but left everything ready to go with Joseph in the leasing office. He was also very helpful and my move in was super easy. I definitely was a little worried when first checking out the Ascent due to the negative reviews, but I have not encountered any of the issues that were mentioned on Unilocal.The most I can say based at least on my experience is, come check out where your apartment # would be. Because it appears that either the issues have been dealt with, or they are isolated issues only happening in an area of the building that is nowhere near my apartment. I have not encountered anything problematic. I would definitely not pass up a nice apartment like this without looking at the big picture. I mean, it is a non-​smoking building after all, I highly doubt neighbors and management would long-​term put up with people violating their leases by smoking cigarettes and marijuana. The apartments are really nice, my studio has a great sleeping alcove that you can turn into a bedroom with a screen or curtain so it really breaks up the space. Overall, highly recommend!

I visited their leasing office today and the leasing agent was very rude in treating future resident. Business hours for leasing office is 9 am to 5 pm, but they rudely literally show you exit door if you come after 4:00 pm, awful!

This is by far the biggest scam I have fallen into. BE CAREFUL.
Read the lease agreement carefully! They have it maliciously worded so you agree to pay shared utilities cost which will not be mentioned by the leasing agents
Parking: You’d think that by paying a parking fee you’d be guaranteed a spot but NO! If you get home any time after 5pm you’ll be circling the parking lot several times.
Coffee machine is more broken than not, or missing milk, or brewing cold coffee I just gave up and make my own. The grills are poorly maintained and they stink
The common areas are not cleaned regularly. Pets pee in the elevator and you’ll find yourself stuck in a box with pee stench that goes on not being cleaned until the next business day.
24 hours concierge is there but it does not mean they can help you. Their help is limited to getting your packages and giving you a guest parking pass that’s about it.
My neighbors consist of a few couples and a whole bunch of fraternity aristocratic and entitled type of kids. These 19 year old spend all day inviting their random and sketchy friends over and proceed with stinking the place up with weed which travels thru the air system into my closet and now all my clothes smell like weed. I have numerous emails complaining about the marijuana smell but they turned a blind eye and when I went down to complain the manager told me «we can’t discriminate against what kind of people we allow in here» Which wasn’t what I was saying, I said I don’t want my clothes to smell! How did that turn into discrimination? Apparently others complained too and an email went out to all residents reminding them that smoking weed or cigarettes are prohibited which myself and a couple of neighbors responded to with the exact apartment numbers they should have addressed this email to. This place is not smoke free at all! People keep they hookah and other smoking devices in plain sight on their balconies and take them to the terrace area and rooftop to smoke.
As a result of above item; one of the apartments got raided by police. The same day I was having a guest over. My guest got off on my floor to find a bunch of police officers and a couple of hand cuffed guys on the floor. It was embarrassing, she was all concerned about my safety and about where I live.
Now onto the actual apartment
Water pressure: non existent, even after putting in a ticket and having their maining guy trash my kitchen counter and leave his tools there which he never came back to claim even after I told them about it but that’s another story. So yea, if it takes you 10 seconds to wash your hands expect 20 seconds because it will take a while for water to collect in your hands. I don’t call that luxury. Same goes for the shower. Water pressure is so low you’ll end up not rinsing shampoo properly and you know what that does to your hair. I am now showing at the gym. I have to pack my things every morning and use my external gym facilities as of I don’t have a «luxury» apartment. One more thing about the water, it’s cold, often times no water at all without any warning from the management office.
The structure is just so poorly designed. It gets windy up here a lot and it makes my place whistle. It sounds like a child screaming from far away. I told them about it and they said to put a towel under my front door to reduce the whistling. A TOWEL UNDER THE FRONT DOOR! This is not LUXURY! During winter the microwave vent blow in outside cold air. Washer and dryer is for your socks and undies only. Put anything more than 4 pounds and it will shake violently, mine now is off of its base and looks like it’s about to collapse. It does not do a good washing or drying job either.
Electric outlets don’t work. I put in a ticket and after several visits (someone stops by leaves a piece of paper stating they stopped by and found nothing) I had to make time to leave work and meet the maintenance guy to show him what outlets looked like he said he’ll fix it. I come back home and the outlet is not working but it’s sticking out of the wall! I had to push it back in but it still hangs a little and honestly I don’t want to deal with another ticket process. It’s like they make things difficult on purpose to exhaust you and just make you give up.
The toilets. I never thought I’d ever have to review a toilet but this one is the most annoying of all. No water pressure means the flushing won’t do the job even after 15 times flushing and waiting for the slow water to refill and flushing again. In a rush and think you flushed and left home for the day? You’ll be greeted with your foul smell upon your return because nothing went down and it was sitting there all day. You’ll need to follow up with a bucket of water and you’ll need a brush. I’ve never spent so much time cleaning a toilet in my life, I think this is how life was in Roman times except I can’t afford a privy chamber maid. This is not LUXURY.

I can’t wait to move. The hallways continuously smell like pet urine and poo. Carpets are never cleaned when requested. There is no control over the pet issue. I will not be renewing. The quality of residents is an issue as one reviewer has mentioned. No respect for the common areas. The penthouse gym TV’s have not been working for weeks. It took them 4 – 5 months to change the water filter for the dispenser in the gym. The elevators are a constant issue. Oh and that monitor that tells you if you have packages or not. rarely on and working. Parking is an issue as well. I like the layout of the apartment though. The three months rent free certainly lured me in but for the price it surely doesn’t feel like a luxury apartment.
This is a non smoking building but we still have residents who smoke like chimneys and stink up the whole floor.

Second year here and I am ready to move out:) I have lived in a few different condos apartments but I have never heard the elevators going up and down from my living room and sometimes even worse, my bedroom and my unit is not even that close to the elevator.
Also parking is a joke. I dont get why the managment makes you register your car cuz when they tow, they dont even check if your registered. They just tow. I just spoke to a neighbor whose car was towed twice in the last month. They charge monthly for parking too. The sticker they issue you does not even have a unique identificator or anything just says Ascent or maybe resident parking? So if I had two cars I were to go to the management office and say my sticker peeled off and I need a new one, I can just park my second one for free? I think that they have a towing company that comes in and tow cars that dont have stickers but for the rent we are paying I think the management should atleast make an effort to check if the car is atleast registered or assign parking spots since we’re paying monthly for parking anywhoos.

Most of the issues that I have experienced here are not directly related to management, but are a product of the lack of respect that many of the residents have for the facility and its common areas. Management has been consistently responsive to requests. Issues that I have experienced:
–resident letting their dogs run loose unattended in the hallway for weeks where they continuously peed on the carpeting (this issue was addressed by management and the resident no longer lets her dogs run loose. Hallway carpet was never cleaned).
–resident smoking weed in apartment which stunk up floor (it looks like management is in the process of taking care of this)
–residents leaving dog poop on the sidewalk directly in front of the building (this is daily, no one seems to care to clean this up).
–residents leaving garbage in elevators.
There is also an issue with the elevators. There are only 4 that service the entire 25 floors and it seems like usually at least one is out of service. I’ve never had issues with my water temperature.
Needless to say that we did not renew the lease even though the renewal rate was competitive. Management needs to hire a few more people to clean the common areas throughout the day if they want to come close to meeting the type of luxury that they advertise.

I hate to give low reviews, but this place isnt worth the money. I lived on the 24^th floor here. This place is very impressive from the exteriors, but you’ll get impressed fairly quickly. It’s in a great location and the lobby and 25^th floor are very nice with a pool table, gym, and chill room. When you get down to the details, the gym equipment is all broken (headphones to half the bikes and treadmills don’t work), the pool is only 2ft, and the BBQ pits take forever to heat up.
The major issue that happened here is during the winter, all the elevators broke and we had to walk 24 floors up for a week. After that only 2 of the 4 worked or they had us take the service elevator instead.
Heads up when you leave, you will have to consistently contact them to return your deposit. They told me they had send it in the mail, and then told me to go pick it up at the office, where they were extremely rude and made me wait over an hr for the return. It isn’t alot of money, $ 99, but they’ll do everything they can to hold on to it. Their customer service deserves 1 star.
If it wasn’t for the location and the modern styling of this place, it would receive a 1 star for constant problems and rude customer service.

The management is trying hardly to improve the building and they took my comments in a serious way and started working on them.

Their leasing people lie just to get you in and make their money. With the way their manager was speaking, it was her the way or the highway. I asked about the fire station noise and she mentioned that I would absolutely not hear it from the 24^th floor. I had to ask another tenant that lived on that floor if it was the truth and he said absolutely not. At all hours of the night you will hear that fire truck.
I recently got dinged on my credit score for too many inquiries. After showing them two recent credit reports from less than 2 months (800 and better) she still mentioned that she had to do her own check. My credit report even said I was dinged bc of too many inquirires. After showing her that documentation it was still Her way or the highway. I dont have time for dictator managers that think theyre gods bc of their title. I will take that Leesburg highway to the other high rise attached to tysons mall and metro. What a shady experience. Leasing agents here are low class.

I am a fairly new resident of this property. I give it 3 stars because it is just OK. I was expecting a lot more because of the area. One con is that there is no business center. Who wants to sit in the lobby on their computer? If you are not going to provide a private setting for your residents then offer free Wi-​Fi. Another con is that a lot of residents walk their dogs through the parking garage. During the Christmas holiday someone actually left dog feces right in front of the elevator. Luckily, I didn’t have guess with me. Very disappointing. They should also look into a new maintenance and cleaning crew. If you would like to keep your residents longer these are some things that you should look into. The lobby and elevator shouldn’t be the only areas getting special cleaning. The parking areas and trash areas should be cleaned just the same. Also, one garage door hasn’t been working since I moved here and the other door broke right before Christmas. I feel that I shouldn’t be paying for parking if my car isn’t secure. There are pros such as the free coffee and tea, concierge (need to have everyone sign in or call residents), nice lobby, gorgeous rooftop. I haven’t used to gym yet. Great access to 495 and shopping. When reading my review, don’t just read it, make some changes. Because I’ve noticed you have more bad reviews than good. Also, how nice your building is you shouldn’t have so many vancancies.

All of the bad reviews about this place are true. I am having to file a credit card dispute against them for fraudulently charging extra fees after only visiting and looking at the community. I fell victim to Eleni’s high pressure sales tactics and submitted an application even though I was not sure. I knew better knowing that their deals would not expire. I was told to apply right away and then I would only have to pay the $ 30 fee that if I applied on a different day the fee would be $ 250. Well I applied right away and they still charged me $ 250. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE THAT I DID. Stay far far way from this place. I never heard back from them after my visit until a few weeks later with information regarding the wrong move in date. The leasing agent Eleni never contacted me after I visited to confirm my approval or send a welcome letter then tried to process me for a date that I had spent about an hour stating would not work for me in person. Save yourself the time, hassle and money and do not even apply here. I am filing a complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau.

My last night here, thankfully — and yet The Ascent is still failing to attend to the needs of the building and residents.
The issues I’ve experienced here stretch across the building itself, failures on the part of the leasing agents, management, and front desk, as well as with other residents here. I won’t cover some of the items that have already been discussed in great detail here (i.e. the winter elevator fiasco, multiple hot water problems). I could also mostly care less about security. I heard about the altercation on the penthouse a while back, but in general this is Tysons, a higher end area, with low crime and swank everywhere. I’m not worried about my safety in the least.
Other items — such as driving and pedestrian safety are a huge problem. I have both witnessed and been a part of multiple near misses in both the garage (due to no safety/​corner mirrors anywhere for the better part of the year I’ve lived here) as well as the intersections of Broad St. with The Ascent’s side streets (due to allowing cars to park at the corners, creating a huge blind spot).
Not only are accidents an issue, but vandalism has happened multiple times in the garage. I had my bicycle tire slashed — yes slashed with a knife, through the tire and tube (there goes $ 60 to replace this). …a bicycle tire — who does that?! I filed a police report just in case something worse were to happen later. I’ve also heard other residents speak of their cars being keyed multiple times, as well has someone having nails put under the tires of a car so as to cause a flat tire.
Residents here carelessly drive at speeds of ~40−60mph in front of the building, where pedestrians are often coming and going, or walking their dog. On one occasion I witnessed the most horrific thing I’ve ever seen: a women senselessly beating her dog outside, the dog Unilocaling as I have only heard after a dog was hit by a car (I yelled at her to stop beating the dog and she sassed me and walked away). On a lighter note, many residents do not pick up after their dog. As a dog owner I find this ridiculous. There is absolutely no accountability here on anyone’s part, residents or staff.
There is a constant smell of cigarettes in the garage, elevators and hallways. There are cigarette butts littered everywhere… and this is supposed to be a completely smoke-​free property/​building. I’ve mentioned these issues multiple times to management, however I have seen no actions from them to stop this. Low and behold, a few weeks ago someone dropped their cigarette butt from a higher level and it dropped onto someone’s balcony 2 apartments over on my floor and caused a fire.
I’ve also had problems 4 times with the front desk ‘misplacing’ a package that had been delivered. On all 4 occasions, they had no clue what I was talking about when I came down to retrieve my expected delivery. I voiced this issue to management after the first and second time. Clearly it had no effect.
I was counting down the days until I could put in notice, and when I did I felt such a relief. 60 days later (ugh) I am about to move, and as I should have expected, another item has not been followed through by office staff. Six days ago I asked them to repair the storage hallway lighting because it was pitch black where my items were. Just to make sure that they were on top of this, I reminded them the next day that the repair needed to be done and that I was moving in a matter of days. Tonight I go to grab something and guess what! Pitch black. Maintenance won’t be here in time to fix it before I have to load up my things in the morning.
All in all — it’s not going to kill you to live here, far from it. However it will definitely bring you a good share of annoyances. It will also drain your wallet a fair amount, much more than it should for what it is. The location is extremely convenient if you work in the area, but that is the only highlight of my experience here.

Hot water went out intermittently, which I was told was due to a design flaw in the building. So, if you want to live here plan on some cold showers. Also, we didn’t have elevator service for almost 3 weeks during the winter and no accommodations were made by the management. I was on the 24^th floor so it was not fun to hike up 24 floors everyday when I got home from work and again later to let out my dog. That said, the finishes are nice enough and I liked my view.

If you’re seriously considering a move to the Ascent, a Greystar property, you might be interested in hearing of my experience, a former resident from the summer of 2014 — April 2015. Throughout my tenancy I witnessed a slew of problems from no A/​C to no hot water in the winter, but none more appalling as the careless disregard & outright negligence of Greystar to provide the safe & secure environment that they claim on their website and that one would undoubtedly come to expect from one of the newest and highly touted luxury highrises in Tyson’s Corner. Unfortunately, I came to experience first-​hand the consequences of Greystar’s lack of security at the Ascent.
My residency at the Ascent came to an abrupt end when on 3÷29÷15 I was brutally assaulted by two men in the rooftop clubhouse at The Ascent. The attack, where in addition to sustaining a multitude of lesions, abrasions and contusions to my head, face and upper body also left me with a traumatic brain injury as a direct result of being kicked in the head well over a dozen times by one of my attackers.
The events that followed, in particular Greystar’s handling of the situation, was almost as bad as the attack itself. Due to my injuries, my fiancée became responsible for dealing with all matters regarding my attack, incl. communications with Greystar. Her first communication with Greystar came the morning after the attack when the property manager contacted us to discuss the events of the attack. In their conversation, he began by informing her that he was fully aware that I had been assaulted & that all parties in the assault had been identified — including the 2 attackers. Given that the attackers had fled & were not there when the police arrived, I was relieved to know that I would be able to find out their names to proceed with pressing assault charges and obtain an order of protection.
We made it clear to the Kris King, the property manager, that due to the severity of my injuries and the gruesome nature of the attack itself — getting kicked in the head well over a dozen times — that I did not feel safe in the building and that I would need their names to press charges and get the order of protection.
After asking over and over, I was denied the names of my attackers. This is where Greystar’s actions started to become suspect. I can’t even describe my utter disbelief that management was withholding the names of my attackers to prevent me from taking legal action against them. When pressed for a reason why, we were simply informed that he was not authorized to give out that information. When asked if the two men were residents of the building, he also said that he was not authorized to give that information. After repeatedly telling him that we did not feel safe in the building and felt vulnerable given the nature of the attack — he blatantly told us that there was nothing he could do, & that we should be careful when leaving our apartment esp. coming in/​out of the building.
About 2 days after my attack, we got a phone call from the property manager, where he notified us that Greystar had decided to terminate my lease & given us 30 days to vacate. I’ve yet to come up with the adequate words to capture the swirl of emotions going through my head at the time. Just a few weeks before my attack, we had negotiated with him our lease renewal for another yr. where he offered us a month free on our new contract. Now I find myself the victim of a callous & cowardly attack worsened by Greystar’s mind baffling decision to prioritize protecting my attackers over ensuring that the incident does not repeat itself. Greystar did nothing to ban my attackers from the building. On the contrary, as a response to my decision to pursue legal actions they terminated my lease.
You’d think that Greystar — who last year settled a negligence lawsuit for $ 1.5 million over a murder that occurred in one of their FL properties — would take measures to ensure the safety & security of their residents.
How safe can you feel here when the following takes place:
* Not requiring all guests to sign in
* Unattended guests in building public areas
* Only 1 person working the front desk, and no other form of security to monitor entire building incl. garages
* Failure to fix broken entrance to underground garage w/​direct access to resident floors
* Sending guests/​contract workers to residents’ apts w/​o calling residents to inform them
Not surprisingly, incidents of assault have repeated themselves since my attack on ³⁄₂₉ — on 4÷23÷2015 & 5÷29÷2015.
In addition to having to relocate in the in the midst of coping w/​the immediate aftermath of my injuries I’ve since been diagnosed w/​PTSD.
In short, don’t move here! They’ve been offering 2 – 3 months free specials since they opened & have yet to fill up. In fact, a majority of all original residents opted not to renew their lease.
My legal quest has just begun.

Location is fantastic with easy access to the beltway, toll roads, and the Silver Line Metro located right across the street from the Ascent. As a welcome gift for moving into the community, I was given a 50.00 Smartcard for the metro, a Tiffany silver plate, two cocktail glasses, and a silver plated keychain. The Penthouse is not only beautiful but holds the highest and most beautifully vivid views in all of Tysons Corner. Actually, you can even see part of DC from the fitness center, which has floor to ceiling windows. Imagine working out with great music and stunning views… kind of like being on top of the world for awhile. If you prefer, there is a serene outdoor patio on the fifth floor that is tropically laid out with furniture, plants, and barbeque grills. All of the apartments have floor to ceiling windows which I absolutely love.
The parking garage has spoiled me. First of all, there are two huge parking garages. One on the east and west side of the apartment building with easy access to the elevators on each floor. I like that the parking garage has large safety mirrors at every corner so that you can see if a car is coming or going before you turn at the end of each floor level. That is a great feature to have in a parking garage, especially for a community of this size.
No community is perfect all of the time. I did have a problem with a situation that the Property Manager, Kris King, tried to take care of when he received my email. I truly appreciate Mr. King’s quick and sincere response to my apartment problem. I am sure that his position as a Property Manager has an immense amount of business matters that need to be completed daily. With saying that, what I respect is the fact that Kris King took the time to call me and treat me as someone who truly values the residents in the apartment community. He did not ignore my concern nor send me to someone who would have no clue or response to the matter. Mr. King is a diligent and caring PM who is fair minded and the type of person with whom I would hope to have as a Property Manager in the future.

Updating my review (please see my previous review outlining all the problems here). My lease is almost coming to an end 10/​19/​2015. Seems like it has taken forever. With pipes breaking in the winter, causing flooding on the first lobby floors, the elevators being out for close to 2 weeks (Causing everyone including the elderly to have to take the stairs. I’m on the 21^st floor, I can’t even imagine how it feels for the people on the 25^th floor), hot water going out several times a week during the winter and homeless people entering the building it’s been a complete nightmare here.
My current update is we have 2 elevators out at night which they shutdown due to the loud noise inability to fix it. This has been going on for a month now (since July). There has been several complaints to the office but no resolution. The noise is extremely loud early in the morning until late at night. It noise carries over into my bedroom. Kris claims they shutdown the 2 elevators at 9pm to prevent noise until early morning, but it’s past 10pm as I’m writing this and I can still hear it. Please view the video below. Forget about washing your white clothes in warm water! This isn’t an option. I dry clean my whites just because of this issue. Who wants to wash their whites or light color clothing in cold water?!? The washer/​dryer sits in the bedroom. View the video below of the washer noise. I uploaded it twice because it accidentally uploaded an party event video.
The outside noise from the fire Department and nearby buildings is so loud. I haven’t had a good night rest since moving here. Forget about sleeping in on the weekends.
My AC/​Heat unit was never fixed and is still loud. When turned on, I stay mostly in my bedroom with the door shut just because it’s so loud. Please view the AC/​Heater video noise.
The main compliant here Kris (the Manager), he doesn’t reply to complaints and try to avoid residents until you walk into the leasing office with your concerns. You basically have to track him down because he won’t return your calls. I had to call him for my «60 day notice» lease cancellation paperwork (that everyone is suppose receive from an apartment place) to prevent from being stuck in a lease agreement for another year.
This place is definitely a lemon! Please be-​aware and do not be fooled by the discounted prices and nice decorated lobby. There are ongoing issues here that has lasted the entire year, I’ve been here.
If you do decide to move here test out the following:
1. Test out the hot water in the kitchen/​bathroom
2. Turn-​on the shower head and test out the water and pressure
3. Listen to the elevators noise throughout your tour
4. Turn on the Heater/​AC, as soon as you walk into the apartment (allow it to run for 10 mins of your tour), so by the time you are finish you will noticed the loud noise.
5. Ask about the Fire Department noise or which end is better to avoid it.
6. Do not move close to the elevators
7. They are now charging a fee for hotwater temps for the boiler. Ask about the price and fee.

Had a successful move in and then pleasantly surprised by the amount of personal attention provided by the concierge desk that’s staffed 24hrs. It would certainly benefit this areas of other property’s catch on and follow suit.

Upon moving to the Ascent my experience was made really easy by the leasing team with Vanessa & Lindsey being extremely helpful. I can’t thank them enough for their efforts. That being said the building and the property management itself has had its fair share of issues.
My first point is with regards to building security. This building has had a security issue in the new year with homeless individuals sneaking into the building at night through the garage. The first time this happened, the police were called and the building was searched. The individual was found next morning sleeping in the basement. When I personally asked the property manager the next day he lied to face saying that it had been a resident that had forgotten their access FOB. Of course any of us that forget our FOBS just sneak in through the garage rather than going to the ²⁴⁄₇ concierge that can quite simply let us back in. This makes total sense.
Another incident a few nights later involved the same individual, I was leaving the garage and saw him sneak again. I notified the concierge who again called the police. This time the individual was found in the penthouse bathrooms sleeping. He was placed in handcuffs and taken off the property. This is the same individual that the building manager had told me was a resident, who had simply forgotten his key.
Ultimately as these security breaches occurred the management made no effort to acknowledge that something had happened. This simply ignored it displaying a blatant disregard for resident’s wellbeing and security. I guess as long as no one knows, there isn’t a problem right?
Moving onto amenities, the building has a coffee machine that is in place from 5 am– 6 pm, a policy that has left me dumbfounded. For a building with 3k a month in rent (higher than many mortgages), I’m really baffled as to how they can turn off a coffee machine, perhaps their several million dollars in rent roll are not enough to cover this. Another issue that they have had is restricted hours for the Penthouse. When I first moved in the penthouse was accessible ²⁴⁄₇. Recently because of an incident involving «a tenuous interaction» between residents, access has been restricted late at night, between the hours of 12 midnight and 5 am. Ofcourse whichever Einstein figured this out is certain that a tenuous interaction can only take place within these hours and not any other time. Good Job here.
When many residents protested, the management did not change its policy. Now if I i have guests over at night and I get a noise complaint I am still liable for that, but the management is completely immune in the fact that it has restricted access to promised 24 hour privileges. Again for the amount of money this building charges such a policy is totally and utterly ridiculous. At the end this is a business not a democracy so it seems like the management doesn’t give a crap about the residents as long as they pay rent.
During the winter, the building has had issues with heating, with water and the elevators. Pipes have burst repeatedly which knocked out the elevators. The elevators were out not fully operational for several weeks and this being a dense 26 floor building it made the entire experience quite frustrating.
As summer approaches, the water got knocked out one day, the cooling also broke down in the month of April for a day or so and the building brought it back up. What is astounding is that the recent string of incidents at the building, the property management fails to send out a single email informing us of the problem.
You can imagine the inconvenience of getting up in the morning and finding out the water isn’t on or that the A/​C isn’t working. A simple courtesy email would go a long way towards alleviating this inconvenience. Unfortunately as of late, this seems like too much of an ask, as the management repeatedly fails to notify residents, of lack of water, lack of air conditioning, or the fact that internet is down in the common areas. Management standards have kept slipping.
Maintenance is another area where standards have repeatedly slid since I’ve moved in. Initially I would get a very prompt response from the maintenance team that would be on-​site almost immediately. This past week my A/​C had been down and I placed a service request. The building offers 24 hour maintenance, suggesting that somebody could be with you straight away. Ultimately it took me 26 hours, a bunch of requests to the concierge and then ultimately going to Vanessa (leasing agent, not responsible for property management) who was kind enough (not her job) to really push the maintenance team to have them come out. This 24 hour maintenance turned into a nightmare with temperatures in my apartment nearing 80 degrees. Again no apology, from the property management.
This building is a great building (and leasing office), with extremely poor management. I’ll be moving out when my lease expires. I suspect I wont be alone.
