Love coming here! We try to go at least once a year. It’s always great! You walk into the store and the aroma of yummyness just hits you. The smell of chocolate! This is a nice size candy store. There’s lots to choose from.(rock candy, jelly beans, fudge, truffles, chocolate covered nuts, to name a few…) They always have their usual fudge flavors, along with new and/or seasonal ones. This time they had a great deal(buy one pound of fudge, get one half price) that I definitely took advantage of. I got ½ lb of peanut butter(my fave), ½ lb rocky road, ¼ lb cookies and cream, ¼ lb almond joy, ¼ lb Mississippi mud, and I don’t remember the other flavor ha! So, so good. We also got 3 rock candies, and my son a little toy tractor that has bubblegum in it along with a jelly belly gummy cockroach(lol!!!). Great price for all of it! The lady even threw in an extra piece of chocolate peanut butter fudge. They started a rewards program, buy 6 lbs, get 1 lb free. Awesome! The ladies are always so friendly!

On my way out of Primland I spotted this place on the road and it was a no brainer. Chocolate factory? Yes, I’m going! The storefront is a quaint story with a large array of chocolate. A bit overwhelming, as I can only carry so much with me back home — LOL! Fortunately, my travel companion is also a chocolate fiend, so we were able to steal away about 4 pounds of assorted fudges, chocolates, and sweets. I would have to say my favorites were the maple nut fudge and the mudslide fudge. Simply delicious. My only wish is that they had a place in Miami. :)

ITWAS A RAINYSATURDAYMORNING… and we were looking for something to do. Girlie had heard about this fudge place in Meadows of Dan. We printed off the directions and off we went. About three miles into the trip She realized I left the directions at home. But i remembered turning left on Squirrel something road. SERIOUSLY. So we did and drove for an hour or so through Deliverance country until we hit a dead end. We took a right and there was Nancys. What are the odds? Im not a sweets person but I sampled enough to get me full. Girlie got some snickers fudge and various other goodies. The place smelled awesome although the«factory» had closed for the day. Ladies were super nice and Ill have to say if you ever find yourself on Squirrel something road dont be shy. Stop in and get some fudge.

As you tool down the Blue Ridge Parkway, there are not always many options for dining. What you usually get is more your standard country fare, such as barbecue or maybe a country breakfast. When you happen upon a place like a homemade candy store, it is a total surprise. If they are also open in the off season, as everything else is closed? Even better. When you ask what something tastes like, and they give you a bite? Sweet. Then they figure that no one else is going to be in before the other half is going to go bad, so they give you the other half that they left int he case. Even better. The only downside is that it makes it really difficult to choose something. Not necessarily for purchase, mind you, because you can sample almost anything in the store, and that gives you a chance to make a fine selection. But if you just wanted to get a quick bite to get you back on the road, you may be in trouble — and stuffed — by the time you get out again. Other than that, Nancy’s is a nice surprise. I only wish they had more homemade offerings. The center of the store is — or appears to be — made in-house. But the outer ring, as interesting as it is, is all shipped in from elsewhere, in pre-packaged glory. There is some cool stuff there, but the real goods are in the inner circle.
