I have been going to A Different Concept for years – Jessica is amazing for waxing and facials!

I had a facial with Jessica this week. I’m pretty inexperienced with facials, but I can confidently say that she did an amazing job! Jessica made me feel so relaxed, there was some nice facial and hand massage action as well as all sorts of lotions and masky things. She also analyzed my skin and gave me some advice on how to continue taking care of it. I was so amazing with the results, even a few days later, my skin still feels amazing. I will definitely be back.

Great place with friendly staff. I had my hair done and a manicure and was very satisfied with the services. The prices are very reasonable compared to some other places that charge outrages amounts for exact same level of service.

I have been to this spa 2X. Once for a pedicure & once for a haircut. I met Melissa during my pedicure. She was super friendly and very accommodating. I decided to go back for a haircut. Due to the type of color/​style I was doing, it took much longer than I expected. Melissa felt really bad and gave me an additional discount. It was not necessary as I told her that I didn’t realize how long it would take just in passing conversation. She did everything possible to make me happy & I was very pleased.
I will be going back to Melissa for additional services soon. I highly recommend Melissa!

I’ve had a Unilocal account for years and I use it all the time to inform my decisions on just about everything beauty related (haircuts, tanning, manicures etc.), but never have I felt so compelled to write a review of an AMAZING salon. I’ve been here to see Jess for a custom airbrush tan 3 times now, and every time it’s truly wonderful. I’ve been to other popular salons in and around Boston for airbrushing, including perfect tan, and those other places just don’t compare. The amount of time and consideration Jess takes while airbrushing is borderline crazy– but who wouldn’t want a perfectionist applying a long lasting tint all over your body and face? Aside from her technique and eye for detail, the solution she uses is also the BEST I’ve experienced– it is the perfect bronze color whether you are going for a subtle glow or the «I want to fit in with my friends who were just in Mexico last week for spring break» effect, and the color fades evenly and more slowly than any other spray tan I’ve had or seen on friends.
I would honestly pay upwards of $ 50 for this tan (PLEASE don’t take me up on that though Different Concept!), but this tan is ONLY $ 36!!! Cheaper AND better than the other airbrush tans in Boston? YEP! A private parking lot right behind the salon? YEP! Some of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever encountered working at a salon? YEP!
To sum up– A Different Concept does the very best custom airbrush tan in the Boston area. Go see Jess, you will not be disappointed!

I had a spray tan done here before my last vacation. I was hesitant at first, because I’d never been there before, but I was made more confident by the esthetician who knew EXACTLY what she was doing. She asked me how dark I wanted to be, let me know that I could go a speck darker without looking orange, and I looked amazing the next day. I got it done the night before we flew out, showered the morning after the tan, and watched the tan gradually settle down over the course of the day.
By the time we hit the resort in Mexico, my tan looked fabulous. I looked like I’d been on vacation BEFORE vacation. The best part (besides the price)? I didn’t burn. I used sunblock, kept up the sun protection, and maintained a healthy tan with no burn the entire time I was away. Everyone else fried. Not good! I looked awesome, and had no tan lines at all.
Well worth the $ 25, and I’d spend more to have that kind of experience. WELL WORTH IT!!!

I had a refresher facial from Jessica, and she was great! I felt so relaxed, and I’m grateful for all the tips she shared with me about skincare. I love it when they give advice about your skin type, and she was nice enough to give samples for me to try.
I also had a swedish massage from someone else (I forget her name), but it was sooo relaxing, and it really helped to relieve some of the back tension I was having. I’ve had deep tissue and «stress-​relieving» massages from other places before, but swedish massage here so far has been the best in soothing pain and stress of the day.
The salon itself is small, and nothing too fancy– as you walk in, there’s an area where customers get their hair and nails done, and through another doorway there is an area where the massages and facials are done. That area is small but has a calming atmosphere complete with candles and relaxing music.
I would come here again if the salon weren’t so far away from where I live and were more T accessible, it was overall a great experience. Receptionist and the actual service were all very friendly!

They have HANDS DOWN the absolute BEST airbrush tan here. The product they use is amazing. I have tried them all straight down to Bella Sante on Newbury Street. I have never had a better one and will never go anywhere else.

I just got back from my third time at A Different Concept Day spa, and have always received really excellent service, and this time was no exception. Disclaimer: I’ve only gotten waxes here, so I can’t say yea or nay for the facials and massages (except the prices, which are SUPER reasonable across the board.)
Today I had Jessica, who was very friendly and did a great job on my eyebrows. The whole wax took less than 10 minutes, wasn’t painful and she used an awesome soothing spray, that really took the sting off.
A Different Concept has a really relaxing atmosphere, with soothing music and dim lighting. It’s a small place, but as previously mentioned, all the employees I’ve ever interacted with are friendly and helpful. As others have mentioned, you CANNOT tip on a credit or debit card, BUT if you do pay in cash, you receive a 10% discount.
All in all, good service, great value and close to my house – A Different Concept is a winner in my book!

I went to Different Concept last Saturday to get a number of treatments done for my wedding. I was made to wait a short while for the manicure despite having an appointment, but I did not mind.
The staff was friendly and accomodating, especially once I mentioned the wedding! My facial done by April was fantastic — I was so relaxed I could barely move when she was done. I’m going back again today for some more spa treatments.
Some of the hair dressers are a bit rough around the edges, but other than that the place is great and half the price of what you would pay in town!
Oh, and they have parking, which is great! But they’re a little off the beaten path so anyone taking the T is S.O.L.

I came here for a citrus body scrub and Nicole was amazing! I’m a really difficult client because I am easily tickled and can’t relax during these treatments, but she took it in stride and did an amazing job. She’s really friendly too so it was easy to get comfortable there. The prices are amazing — I mean $ 66 for an entire body scrub? I’d have paid like $ 200 for that @ Bliss. This place isn’t a Red Door or Bliss in terms of the environment, but you get the same treatments at a fraction of the price, as long as you don’t care TOO much about how the spa itself looks. It’s clean, but definitely small and ya know… average.
I’ll be back next week for another treatment and am considering booking my bridal party for services here too.

Ahhh, I knew i forgot something. I meant to review this place sometime ago.
The first time I went here, I booked myself and four friends for spa treatments. We arrived early and waited. and waited, because the owner didnt book enough employees for our services. After she pretty much yelled at me, (apparently, it was my fault, she cant keep her shit together). We got our services one at a time, and they were fabulous. Unfortunately, the amazing escetician (s)??? who did my facial has gone onto another establishment. Shocking,
The next time I went was to get a haircut. I booked for 6:30 p. m, with the owner. I was five min early and was made to wait until past 7:00. The owner (Ann) made absolutely no apologies, and just showed me the way to the sink, (this place is miniscule, there was no way I was getting lost). The haircut was good, but besides being one of the rudest hairdressers I have ever met, she also drank WHILE she cut my hair. I dont mean a glass of wine at a chi chi salon. I mean multiple beers. No doubt to enhance her obnoxious factor.
Someone talked me into going back again, and I waited just as long. I left, but not before walking over to her station and telling her how rude and inept she was.
This owner is no longer there, so this review might be null and void.
The spa treatments are great.
Also, lets just say hypothetically, that someone has pale skin and wants a spray tan, its the best. I… I mean they have ever gotten. Look Ma, no streaks!

Ok, so when it comes to Spas and Body Treatments I am very picky, as most girls are, and should be. I stumbled across A Different Concept Day Spa randomly, and decided to give it a try. I needed to get my arms waxed for a wedding I was going to, and of course I waited until the last minute. I called and found out they were opened until 9 on a Friday night, which scored major points with me. The Spa is in a run down looking building, however you can tell they are fixing it up. The facility itself is small. One side of the place is a hair salon, and the other side is waxing, treatments, etc… They pleasantly greeted me (which I deem VERY IMPORTANT), and promptly escorted me to a tranquil room to begin my waxing. The procedure itself went smoothly (no pun intended). I have sensitive skin, and usually break out with red bumps after a wax, however that didn’t happen to me this time. When I paid I was surprised to find out that they are extremely cheap in their prices! AND when you pay in cash, they give you 10% off!
I would also HIGHLY recommended the airbrush tanning. It’s SUPER Cheap, & better than any other place I have been to, or seen my friends have done.
All in all, I give A Different Concept Day Spa 4 stars. If you are looking for a luxurious experience, this isn’t the place for you. If you are looking for a local, reasonable, quick and easy spa with a reasonable extensive menu and great hours, this is the place for you!
