Had a suit tailored here a few months ago. Work was well done, reasonably priced, and VERY quick. I needed the suit for an interview and actually went back a couple days after because she tightened the pants a bit too much for me, and she fixed them right up at no charge. Main downside is that she doesn’t speak much English, but she’s sweet and runs a nice shop. Would definitely go back.

Ladies, there’s a major issue that many of us face today, and for far too long we have been either in denial, or just ignoring it in hopes that it will go away. Waist gap: The chronic condition of pants which, fitting perfectly in every other way, leave enough space between your lower back and the waistband to be positively indecent. If you too, suffer from this condition, it’s time to confront it. Especially since, for a mere ten dollars you can completely eliminate it. The sweet woman who does alterations here can help. She can help with other problems you may be facing too. Pants too long? Skirt hem falling? She even does buttons. Don’t be fooled by her swiftness. It made me nervous too, the first time I handed over a pair of pants that she barely seemed to measure and marked with a single straight pin. Two days later they came back, perfectly hemmed. If you’re having the waistband altered, and you care about preserving the label you need to remember to ask specifically. It would be nice if that was automatic, but that is in general, a minor concern. For small alteration jobs this place is too convenient, and reasonably priced for me to pass by. This might be a three star rave, and if I have occasion to alter something a little more complex I’ll feel comfortable giving the bump up.

Main Street Cleaners is the little gem you’ve always wanted in a mom n’ pop dry cleaners and tailoring spot. The sweet elderly couple who run the shop are as Italian as they come and the cutest pair on earth. I’ve been bringing my items to Banima(sp?) since I could remember — she used to be located on Broadway in Ball Sq, but moved to Main Street a few years ago. She can turn things around pretty quickly, and her tailoring rates are very reasonable. I’ve had her alter everything from jeans(and she does the real hem!) to dress pants, jackets, cocktail dresses and bridesmaid dresses. Even if she hates it when I want her to shorten my skirts and dresses(because she’s got a mother’s touch), she does it just the way I like it every time! She even giggles with me a little when I bring in different pairs of shoes to try on with all of my items in need of alterations(because EVERYTHING is too long on me!). I live in Newton now and still go out of my way to bring her my most valuable pieces. Price is on par for the quality of service, I just love this woman! Go see her for all of your dry cleaning and alteration needs.
