Americas Best Value Inn & Suites – Memphis East

If I could have given this place negative stars I would have in a second. I’m all for staying in seedy motels. The cheaper the better as long as there are no bed bugs coming home with me is my motto, especially on cross country road trips. It wasn’t the cleanliness of the room that bothered me but the sheer rudeness of the staff. My husband & I stayed one night here & in the morning there was a knock at our door around 10:15am. Assuming it was housekeeping I said through the door «no thank you» because I wasn’t fully clothed but it was a man who just cut me off & abruptly yelled «Check out time ma’am!» Neither my husband or I remembering exactly what time check out was we assumed from the knock that it was at 10am so we started rushing around grabbing our things. This was a hotel/​motel with a door out to the parking lot AND a door to the inside of a hotel hallway area. I walked out to the parking lot to put the bags in the car & the gentleman who yelled at us 5 minutes prior from inside the hotel was out there. It was like they had us surrounded. He looked at me & then walked right into our hotel room & opened the other door letting the housekeeper in. My husband was in the bathroom as this was happening. It was absolutely rude & just plain insane that this was happening. We almost left our pillow & some other items behind because of how we were being pushed out. After leaving we called the hotel just to double check what their check out time actually was & it was 11am!!! We got pushed out a ½ hour early! It was just a nightmare. I had never experienced anything like it. Terrible! There are other cheap hotels in the area, I would advise you NOT to choose this one!
