Stopped at Dixie Queen wanted some hot wings and yes they were hot fresh hot chicken wings with the hot sauce I enjoyed every savoury bite. I don’t normally eat the skin of the chicken but I ate these to bone they were that good.

I have eaten here several times and they never disappoint. The food is made to order at an affordable price. The milkshakes are delicious and made extra thick with real ice cream. The burgers are good and come with all the fixings. Only negative I have is the burgers are really thin(order a double) and could use a little more seasoning. My fiancé ordered wings and they were good as well. However, be prepared to wait a while as they cook food fresh to order.

Awesome burgers. Nice, juicy, flavorful burgers. They are sloppy, but those are the best.

Staff was friendly. I got an orange freeze and a hamburger. The hamburger was small but flavorful, toppings seem quite fresh, as far as drive through places go. How have I never been here? Very good hamburger… even without cheese(because I ordered the wrong thing in my haste — troubles with drive-thru) also not dry like other hamburger places(i.e mcdonalds) The orange freeze… wow. That is childhood right there. Have you ever had one of those orange push ups from the ice cream truck? The novelty thing? That’s what it tastes like, very creamy and somewhat sweet, it says it is made with orange sherbert… but I haven’t had that in a long time to compare, but the thing I can connect it to is one of those orange pops, other flavors shall be tried another time. o3ob Forget sonic this is the really good quality fast food and a lot cheaper.

Dixie Queen is one of those Memphis establishments that brings me back to my childhood. When I was younger, my mom and I used to go to the Dixie Queen on Mt. Moriah to get a burger, fries, and freeze. We would eat inside and then head next door where there was a super awesome Putt Putt course. It had giant replicas of zoo animals, windmills, the whole bit. I do not frequent Dixie Queen as much any more, but every so often I have to stop in and get my freeze fix. That is what I had to do recently. I was in the area and made an instant decision to go through the drive through. I ordered an orange freeze. The freezes are just as good as I remember them as a kid. They are not icy at all, and they are not too liquidy either. They have that perfect consistency and are bursting with flavor. I don’t know exactly how to describe what a freeze is. It’s a lot like a milkshake, but kind of like a smoothie. There is really nothing else like it. You just need to try it for yourself. For the record, the burgers and fries are really good for a fast food restaurant. If you are going to eat fast food, I would definitely opt for this instead of any national burger chain. The food is especially good at 3:00am on your way home. I found out about their late hours as a young adult and was thrilled. The staff is usually super friendly too. They always have smiles on their faces and are willing to chat it up with you. The only downside: Don’t come here if you are in a hurry. They will take forever and make you late. Guaranteed. Every time. There were four cars in front of me at the drive through, and I didn’t leave Dixie Queen for over 15 minutes. I could have gotten food faster at a sit down restaurant. However, if you have the time to hang out, it is worth the wait. From my experience, Dixie Queen is one of those places that is never talked about, but an establishment most Memphis know and love.

When we pulled into this little place, I didn’t expect much. I was judging a book by its cover — it was a an old-fashioned looking restaurant, nothing fancy, and from the outside you could see that the walls were mostly bare. Nothing like the current chains that focus on bright colors and cartoon characters. We walked in and I got a little apprehensive when I saw the list of prices on the menu overhead — they served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a good selection of shakes, slushes, and ice cream, but $ 1.29 for french toast? $ 1.50 for a burger? I ordered a lime slush and an order of fries, as well as a hamburger. Turns out, the hamburger was excellent. A thin patty with mayo, tomato, ketchup and mustard. The fries were crisp and better than a fast food chain’s. They cook them in canola oil — I know, because I asked, and the gentleman was nice enough to show me. The slush was delicious — not chipped, crunchy ice, it was a real slush, with tiny little bits of ice. All in all, a surprisingly great deal and a nice time. I will definitely be back. They pride themselves on the Humdinger — it’s like a Blizzard, with cookie and candy mixed throughout. Yum.
