A real barbershop is really hard to find these days. That’s why when I stumble in to this place, I knew that this is it. A good olé fashion barber shop. Nothing fancy like Sports Clips or Fantastic Sam’s, the barbers here do actually know how to cut hair. Especially Terry, the owner, he is an expert on cutting flat tops. He cuts it high and tight. They still use real razor for clean closed shave. The place is a little dated but it gives it the personality of what areal barber shop should be. The staff are friendly and professional in their trade.

Atmosphere is pretty good, and the conversation was tolerable. But, the haircut. I asked for a clipper cut and gave the comb length. I thought that should be foolproof. I don’t know what she used, but it was WAY shorter than what I asked for – by far the shortest my hair has ever been. Would have been perfect if I was looking to enter the armed forces…

Not sure about any of these positive reviews. Maybe I just got lousy treatment I got the worst haircut and customer service of any salon/barber I’ve ever went to. I went in here and wanted to get my haircut. I explained to the male barber that I wanted a high fade. He seemed like he wasn’t sure about it entirely but I trusted him. After directing him as to what a high fade was multiple times I said I wanted the other, more competent woman to cut my hair. He glowered at me and said in a confrontational tone: «if you wanted a free haircut, you should have just said so» So I was offended and getting a bad haircut simultaneously. The woman tried to salvage it, but there wasn’t much left to do and it cost an unrealistic $ 26. Never going there again. Stay away

I’ve been getting my hair cut there for 10+ years. I want to give them a bad review so people will stop going and clogging up the joint, but I can’t! They’re great.

Men — this is where to get your hair cut in Memphis I have searched high and low for a decent barber shop in Memphis, and this is it. Nothing but cuts for men, neck shaves with a straight razor and skilled barbers. Both Terry and Rob are excellent Make sure that you stop by the ATM on the way in as its CASH only!

If you have hair and you’re a man, you really owe it to yourself to go to High Point Barber Shop. Totally relaxed rockabilly atmosphere. Extremely fun staff. Conversation for the duration of my stay which was surprisingly short.(It only took 30min for a haircut, beard trim, and a shave.) I can honestly say that it’s the wisest use of $ 35 I’ve ever made. I look and feel great, my fiancé is giddy over my new appearance, and we would have enjoyed ourselves equally just sitting in there and conversing with the staff. Seriously. Treat yourself.

Once you get your haircut here, you’ll never go anywhere else. Rob and Terry are the best.

My last experience at High Point Barber Shop was very poor. While the barber was chopping on my hair, he was chit-chatting and gossiping with everyone in the shop except me. He barely spoke to me at all. He was not paying attention to me or the haircut. The haircut was not worth $ 22, and I thought their cash-only policy was ridiculous. The only reason Terry is still in business is because his shop is in the newly hip and trendy High Point Terrace community. Any other neighborhood, and he’d be struggling.

Visited High Point Barber Shop tonight after I missed my usual place. I came in at about 5:10pm and they closed at 6. There were three people ahead of me and two people in the chairs so I expected to be there awhile. Pleasantly to my surprise, it didn’t take as long and I was under the shears by 5:45pm. The conversations on going were cool and they kept it pretty lively. But you didn’t come here for my review of the waiting area right?! ONTOTHEHAIRCUT! Like any other true barber, certain things are expected: attention to detail and a hot shave on the back of my neck. On both accounts and more, High Point Barber Shop did not disappoint! In fact, my barber Rob, did an awesome job. We discussed big band music and upcoming shows all while meticulous attention to detail was given. They charge $ 22 for a haircut and it’s well worth it. I explained what I wanted and he didn’t ask any strange questions or give me a look like, «Are you serious!?» He was all about service. The haircut turned out great and afterwards I had questions about how to maintain the style he gave me and he was more than willing to help. Overall, I was very impressed! Great location and great people. Ask for Rob and enjoy! Great LOCAL barber shop — highly recommended!

Outstanding. Probably the best barber I’ve been to. This was my first time there and Terry did the perfect fade from a 1 all the way up the sides. Terry is a professional and overall kind man. This is the old fashioned barbershop you’ve been looking for. It’s in a safe neighborhood with great parking and I only had to wait about 10 min. I’m in the Air Force and drove in from out of town and I wish he’d move to work in DC. Give Terry a try, you WILLNOT be disappointed.

This is the best barber shop around. Terry runs the place. It’s an old feel with antique barber chairs and baseball memorabilia everywhere. They give the royal treatment– hot towels on the face, wet strait razor shave and haircuts! I get the whole package and it’s just $ 35. It’s a wonderful experience that any man would enjoy. Highly recommended. It’s cash or check only, so bring a check or cash! No plastic here.

Look, we all know that man-sentric barber shops are on the wane. These days, dudes go to the same primp and shine salons as ladies do. Either that or they go to generic chain chip joints like Fantastic Sams. I’m not knocking those places. Sometimes, their super convenient. What I am saying is. A Man should have a barber. A real barber. You can find one here. Real, old school, red and white pole barber shop. .and don’t forget to give Terry a tip.
