Came in around 12:30 on a Saturday expecting a lunch rush. Surprisingly the crowd was light which I guess was a good thing since the staff was no where to be seen. After a few minutes a waiter emerged and said he’d be right with us. Then after a few more minutes a second waiter said she’d be right with us. Then after a few more a third waiter took us to our table. The wait for the drinks and bread wasn’t bad. It took about 20 minutes to get our entrées though. I got the country fried steak with okra and«seasoned» fries. The okra was lukewarm and secret to the seasoned fries is apparently to salt them like you would regular fries then do nothing. The steak was decent after heavy doctoring with salt and pepper but for the money I’ll take a cracker barrel country fried steak over this any day of the week. The waitress we had was very nice and took good care of us. The food however was subpar.

It was to be as expected. I haven’t eaten at this establishment in 15 years. My wife seemed to like it. So, I obliged to try again. The food was a bit bland. At least, the mashed potatoes were. My burger was not too shabby. Though, they don’t ask weather you want it cooked rare to well done. It’s pretty much a well done pre-cooked patty. But, the bacon complimented it well. I didn’t get a chance to try the dessert. I’m sure it would have completed the dinner with a lovely tune. I will say this: the service that I had was excellent. And the sweet tea is to die for. Diabetics, beware. To me, the sweet tea tastes like«momma’s sweet tea». If I ever come back, it will only be for the sweet tea, and to try their fudge brownie/ice cream dessert.

I really advise if you’ll be dinning out; you should really consider taking your business elsewhere because you will not be welcomed at Dixie Café #1032861 Bartlett Blvd. We were sited; customers that arrived after us were sited and waited on while we were just waiting. Guess it was basically decided to discriminate against us. It took just as long to get our meals as it did to get waited on. After this experience I sincerely have no desire to go back.

I travel a lot with work and have been eating off the Unilocal app for a couple months now trying to get away from the chain restaurants. So I found this place and it had mixed reviews but was only a couple miles from the hotel so why not. So here goes. Service — not completely horrible but I have had better. Long time getting seated and they weren’t busy(seemed to be watching tv) and a long time getting the check. I had two grilled pork chops, a baked potato, and some broccoli with dinner rolls and a glass of sweet tea. The rolls are piping hot and really very good. The chops were tasty as well, I could tell by the texture of the potato it had been around a while. The broccoli came out green and brown and I really didn’t eat it(looked gross). Probably my biggest disappointment was the sweet tea, I live in the south and one thing most places in the south pride themselves on is the tea… this stuff was rancid, I ended up with a glass of water. If the hotel is next door I may come back, but I drove by much better food than I just ate.

Underwhelmed. Based on some reviews and a personal recommendation, we gave Dixie a try for a late lunch. I looked forward to savoring chicken fried steak & gravy, with sides of Mac & cheese and slaw. Wife had a chicken salad. Wish I had gotten the salad. The CFS was gummy and I didn’t finish it. While waiting for our order, we were entertained by an argument between wait staff in the back. One of the gals lamented she couldn’t find another job when her background checks revealed a DUI and assault on her record. We’ll probably take a pass on another visit.

Food tasted like high school cafeteria food. The country fried steak was covered in breaking, chicken and dumplings flavorless. The fried corn was covered in breeding and tasted like frozen corn. Ordered a brownie sundae and was not impressed. The only good thing was the rolls and cornbread.

Me and my wife come here on a regular basis and we really enjoy it. They bring our rolls and cornbread when you get there, which is great if you are like me and come in starving. On the menu they give you options of a light portion or a full portion and both come with two sides. They serve Beef, chicken, fish and pork plus some sandwiches and salads. The southern food is good and reasonably priced. I get a variation of the grilled chicken every time I come. The burgers are good but not award winning. One downside I have with this place and it might not be a big deal to some is that most of the veggies are from a can, if that bothers you can always carb. it up. I find that the deserts are pretty good, plus they come in smaller portions for a smaller price.

We went to Dixie Café this past Saturday with some friends to grab a quick bite and let the kids take advantage of some lunch deal they had going on. It’s been about 20 years since I’ve eaten at a Dixie Café, so I went in with a sort of «zen». I wasn’t going to expect too much, but then again, how do you screw up Southern food? I was pleasantly surprised. The service was friendly and accommodating and the food, while not the BEST I’ve ever had, was perfectly good. Everyone enjoyed their meal and, *bonus*, the kids scored free sundaes at the end.(A great incentive to get them to eat those last few bites of lunch, for sure!)

Love the comfort food, and that’s the reason they have stars at all. Wait time is not good at all, service was slow(multiple times), and they graded out an 89 on cleanliness. Food is deliciously southern once you have it though. Sweet tea is incredible.

Great little southern diner with charm and friendly service. Wonderful food like your grandmother would make every Sunday if she could cook. Mine couldn’t. Friendly service and free dessert if you are a first time visitor. They also gave us coupons for our next visit and a carryout menu. Most of the meals are under $ 10 and come with two sides. Sign up as member for specials online. You can get chicken n dumplings, country fried steak, shepard’s pie, vegetable plate or one of their many sandwiches or platters. Bread is jap cornbread and whole wheat rolls, hot and fresh. Dessert could be a shake or warm cobbler. We have never been greeted so often or been so charmed at a restaurant.

This is where you want to go for good old fashioned southern cooking, family style. They have what they call a value menu, with items like Country Fried Steak, Chicken and Dumplings and Shepard’s Pie. The price is just $ 7.95 and comes with your choice of two side items. They have a large list of veggies and some really good mashed potatoes and gravy. I love their gravy here! They also have fantastic shakes and fresh homemade pies. A great place to bring the kids.

Come here for Southern comfort food in a down home style atmosphere. Don’t come here expecting anything else and you won’t be disappointed. Think meat and veggie plate, chicken fried steak, corn bread rolls and iced tea and that is what you get at Dixie Café. It’s a local chain restaurant with several locations here and in Arkansas. They have an old fashioned soda fountain area that is fun for the kids. They like to sit on the big bar stools and get a shake. This is my go to place along with Cracker Barrel when I need Southern comfort food. This location has a bonus– a great Tuesday Morning next door!
