Perennial favorite. Huge TV, great live music, fun trivia… some of the best fries in town and a chili cheese dog. What’s not to love? They also have lots of ice cold beer, a pool table and fabulous people watching. One of my friends recently described it as her Cheers.

One star for the Great service One star for the French fries The place smelled like it had been mopped and sprayed down with soiled mop water Appetizers — onion rings and pickles were dredged and coated with 2 inches of bland«beer batter» Beyond greasy and inedible Fried food can be delicious if done right Sorely sad to say not the case here Sandwich — I ordered the veggie sandwich with sun dried tomatoes, cream cheese and guacamole For a $ 7 veggie sandwich it was bleak of the aforementioned toppings Veggie chili was amazing and robust with flavors and vegetables French fries are indeed award winning there fresh cut and taste as such

I’m sitting here late night – and seem to encounter the same thing every time I come up here. I’m one of three tables at the moment. And I’ve been waiting on a turkey sandwich and French fries. There are a bunch of bros in here dancing to backstreet boys on the jukebox. The food is overrated to begin with. I don’t know that I will come back here. This is some of the worst service in Memphis and I wish that were an exaggeration. I just want a turkey sandwich…

Okay, look. I like the deli. Good food, good drinks. BUT they MUST buy some new pool cues! Half are broken and none have any felt on the tips. The kids may not know any better, but it is really frustrating for those of us that do. Empty the quarters out of the tables and invest in some new sticks, please!

I wish they would stay open until 3am like they advertise. It’s a real buzz kill to show up at 12 and the lights come on at 1:30

Bonus that they were open at night on Thanksgiving. Fun place and good atmosphere to relax and have a beer. I gave myself a Thanksgiving pass to eat whatever I wanted and I had done a 4 mile turkey trot earlier in the day so this was the perfect choice. I figured hey I’m in the South and ordered the pimento cheese fries. My boyfriend ordered the fried pickles and we shared. YUM! They were both large portions and fried to perfection. Really why have regular cheese when you can have pimento cheese?

Love this place! The laid back atmosphere, delicious vegetarian food options, and friendly staff make this one of my favorite midtown spots. Entertainment can include live music of a variety of genres and billiards. On a Friday or Saturday, there are plenty of people to mingle with– and maybe a cover charge. My favorite things to eat here are the beer battered fried artichoke hearts, vegetarian loaded French fries, and the vegetarian chili– spicy and really hearty! Fun local spot with good food, good entertainment, and nice waking distance to other spots in the neighborhood.

Had a great time last night. Food was awesome and service was fast and friendly. Loved the outdoor seating. I had the club sandwich and fries. Fries were a tad salty but very good.

What to say? What to say? Good stuff! I frequent Young Ave when I need to hang with friends. The vibe is always nice and I’m often pulled into nostalgia revisiting my college days. That’s it! I feel like a collegiate rockstar when I’m in the place. Like the food. The food is comfort and my go-to hug in a basket would have to be those fabulous sweet potato fries. Crispy, hot with that perfect hint of sweetness and large enough to share with a buddy or two. Along with beer and entertainment in the back, we have go team go! It’s the best spot for those nights when you want to chill minus the Netflix. Ha!

It’s about time we tried out Young Avenue Deli! We kept hearing about it from people but kept putting off trying it. I ordered The California and my wife ordered the Deli Club. The California was good, but a little smaller than I wanted. My wife’s, however, was amazing! She gave me a couple bites and it was delicious. They have a ton of different sandwich offerings so I’ll be back to try others. Also, it’s a great place to come and watch sports. They had all the local football games running and everyone was cheering and getting into it. It’s a good time down at Young Avenue Deli!

This review is long overdue. I’m a pretty big fan of Young Ave Deli. I’m a repeat delivery orderer(and I live really close by. Lol). Rarely do they miss on the wings, turkey pita wrap or fries. About to order a combo now!

Young Avenue is too loud for me, but that’s because I’m an old soul. However, that doesn’t stop me from ordering their take out! I cannot live without their chili cheese fries and their chicken salad. It’s just heavenly. My daughter loves the mozzarella sticks. The people who answer the phones are always polite and the order is always correct.

I’m new to the Memphis area and read that this place has a large beer selection so decided to try it out. Parking was easy to find at lunch time and service was quick as well. The beer list was extensive, as I had heard, which was great. The menu had plenty of sandwich items and salads to chose from. I decided on the Bren, as it was starred as local favorite. It was alright, but not something I would order again. The homemade chips were delicious though. I will likely be back to try it out again.

Parking can sometimes be a bit of a headache, but I usually luck out and am able to park right beside the place in their lot. If worse comes to worse, I’ll first try the Café Olé lot behind Young Ave, or just find a spot on the street. I feel like this is more of a guys place. I say that because my guy friends ALWAYS want to go here and play pool. They have a few pool tables that always seem to be highly sought after. I usually just sit on the booths and watch whoever I’m with(which is a nice addition I might add). Its also one of the few bars you can actually hear people talk. For me, if I go out, I want to go out dancing or somewhere where the music is louuddd. However, this place is great for a more low key, chill night! When it comes to event specials, this place is so much fun. Just a few days ago I went to the Grizz watch party and saw atleast 20 people I knew. They have a big screen projector that makes for some pretty great watching. They also would bump some classic Grizz pump up songs that really got the crowd going. I’ve come here a few times for fights or other big sports events. Its always a fun time. My only suggestion is that seating is already limited, and the projector is angled at such a way that about 6 tables can’t even see the image. They were good about bringing out some extra seats though. our waiter was great about that! As for food, y’all. Their fries. YUM. That was all I had room for, but my friends kept telling me they had some of the best bar food. Will definitely have to come back on an empty(or drunk) stomach and try that out :).

I give this place three stars cause the service is just not good. I hardly ever go here and now I remember why, not to mention I have poor memories of being here with my ex boyfriend. I went here on this occasion for a beer and dinner with a friend. It took the server so long for us to order one drink that we decided to just go ahead and get our check and we went elsewhere to eat dinner. I understand that he was busy with other tables but one thing I have a hard time with is poor service. I find it more respectable if the server tells me «hey I a little swamped at the moment with all my tables if you could just bare with me» I can work with that but he was just kinda rude. Oh well can’t all be roses and cherries! I’ll go back of course but it will be more for the bar scene then for dinner.

This is where you go in Memphis when one is too«hip» for Panera or any other sandwich place in town. The prices are reasonable and the ambience super chill. Bands on the weekends, pool tables in the back and a big screen to show spitting events — including MMA fights, if that’s your thing. I never fit in here in my preppy outfits and dislike of loud places. The pimento cheese fries are the and I love the brownie bite sundae. The sandwiches here are so meh though, I just can’t find one I legit like and they have a decent variety. Service is not bad not great, a little slow but this place is always super crowded so that’s the nature of the beast.

After hearing so many positive reviews from friends, I had to check it out! The interior reminded me of a good bar – it was open, had pool tables, and was nicely decorated. I had a roast beef dip and my boyfriend tried the Philly cheesesteak. Both were really mediocre. Nothing I’d come back for. Per my friend’s recommendation, we also tried the chili cheese fries. They were good, but reminded me of something you could get at any bar or bowling alley. Not sure what all the hype was about, but I probably won’t go back any time soon.

This place is just what the doctor ordered for a good time: plenty of drinks, a ton of room, a menu that is guaranteed to soak up some booze, live music, dark lighting, patio, eye candy, and a whole lot of yes. While I am not a regular, I sure do know I good time when I see one and then can’t remember it the next day. I appreciate the good selection of beer, and even cider, on tap too. One can never go wrong with Jack Daniels so that’s a nice option for this hang out kind of place. It’s laid back and wide open with a nice variety of musical acts. It’s a grand time no matter how you cut it. The ample room for games such as Foosball and Billiards is a plus. It’s not a stuffy and sticky bar which is nice. When the sun goes down and it gets dark, the glow of beer signs is enough to make this place come alive. That’s personality that I would like to visit again and again. Plus, when the going gets rough you can always get a bite to eat at a table, booth or the bar. Some food and a glass of water can get anyone back into the drinking saddle. I like this place. Next time I’m in town I’ll for sure look forward to a visit to the YAD. The whole area seems pretty fun and outgoing. That’s what I look for in a party zone. Live music, food and drink and good times a plenty.

Let’s be real here — Young Ave Deli is no Lenny’s Sub Shop. My friend had the audacity to compare the two when we were talking the other day, and I made damn sure to nip that in the bud real quick. This place has memories upon memories for me. I spent much of my hay days here when attending U of M. The beer always flowing(cheap PBR tall boys, anyone?), sandwiches to boot, and the billiards and bands made for a perfect night… whether it be on a Tuesday or Saturday. That is the nature of YAD. Next to RP Tracks, I think they serve up some of the best damn sweet potato fries in all of Memphis. I must admit I am due to return on my next visit home. I visited a couple of months ago when I was back in town, and not a single thing has changed about the place. Quality is still just as much there as it was back 6 years ago when I was going at least twice a week, and the neighborhood deli is still the best in midtown for that sort of thing. A true Young Ave Deli fan through and through until the last bit of ham is gone from my Italian Sub.

Situation report: Wingman First Class, Wright, Kyle C Mission: Reconnaissance, Infiltration, and Extraction Target: [NAMEREDACTED] Mission Debriefing: At approximately 1734 hours on 27APR, command received word via an intelligence asset that a High Value Target contacted a known associate to schedule a rendezvous. The HVT would be traveling with a highly skilled escort of female assassins. The rendezvous was a front for an arms deal that could have far-reaching implications abroad. The mission was clear: recon the area, eliminate the competition, infiltrate the HVT and her entourage, and turn her as an asset. My pilot, [NAMEREDACTED] volunteered for the mission. He selected me as a wingman. We arrived at the LZ and conducted an initial reconnaissance. The LZ proved to be a popular local bar. A risk assessment revealed that the bar offered several dozen beers on tap, with another several dozen available via bottles. The bar also offers food — sandwiches mostly. Upon the instance of one of the employees we ordered the Sam-I-Am, which can be made as a pizza, but just in an effort to not blow our cover. The pizza is made with a bbq sauce base, turkey and cheese and is, by far, the best item to order on the menu. We were so busy enjoying the pizza, we almost forgot our mission. Suddenly, the HVT appeared. Wingman mode engaged. In order to successfully infiltrate the HVT’s entourage, I had to adopt the customs and mannerisms of the local populace. Since most of the people who frequent the establishment seemed to be hispters, I quickly grew my most ironic beard, donned a pair of unnecessary glasses, and poured myself into my skinniest jeans. The infiltration went smoothly. My disguise worked liked a charm and i quickly integrated myself with the HVT. It was at this point that I noticed that several members of the entourage, and even the HVT herself had slackface, a paralysis of the face that occurs from high doses of radiation. In fact, it seemed like EVERY girl here had slackface, as if they had all been born in Chernobyl. At this point we decided that extraction risk of the HVT wasn’t worth the danger. Mission abort. We would not extract any personnel from this location again. But we would order that pizza…
